This article is about a villain in Power Rangers Ninja Storm. |
- "I'm sick of Power Rangers! Rangers, Rangers, Rangers! That's all I ever hear!"
- ―Zurgane to the Power Rangers.[src]
- "You will pay for that!"
- ―Zurgane after Vexacus shattered his sword blades and his final lines before his first destruction.[src]
Zurgane was the main general in Lothor's army. He was a karakuri robot, which was controlled by an alien bug inside the shell. This is never shown in Ninja Storm, though it's shown in the Zurgane action figure in the U.S. toyline.
History[]
While Zurgane looks like a Karakuri robot, he is actually a small alien ant-like creature that controls the much larger samurai-like robotic suit, as revealed in the toyline, but this was never shown on the series.
He was first shown in the first episode of Power Rangers Ninja Storm "Prelude to a Storm", where he along with Lothor's forces came to the Wind Ninja Academy and captured all of the Ninja Students.
Even though the Thunder Rangers were on Lothor's side at the time in the three-part episode "Thunder Strangers", he despised them, for they got the glory and attention that he wanted from Lothor. He is always mocked by his fellow crewmates because he doesn't have a mouth or eyes. Zurgane is known to be Lothor's technical adviser as he fixes objects on the ship and builds his own evil Zords and even uses robotic monsters.
After the destruction of Zurgane's latest Zord by the Power Rangers, Zurgane was left in bad shape. Vexacus took advantage of that in order to perform a sneak attack, shattering his blade and destroying him with a single blow. TV STORY-General Deception
In the two-part series finale episode "Storm Before the Calm", when the Abyss was open, Zurgane returned for the final battle, only for him to be defeated again by Shane in his Battlizer.
He later returned again a year later from the reopened Abyss in the final part of the two-part special team up episode of Dino Thunder "Thunder Storm" to serve Lothor once again, as he was partnered with Elsa of Mesogog's army. He was destroyed by the Thunder Rangers and Tommy Oliver with the latter dealing the final blow with his Brachio Staff Energy Orb attack.
Alternate Zurgane[]
In an alternate dimension, Zurgane works at Storm Chargers where he and Choobo have opposite personalities. Zurgane is among those who assist Mayor Lothor in his fight against the Evil Ninja Rangers. TV STORY-The Wild Wipeout
Personality[]
Zurgane is a ruthless, sadistic, sarcastic, arrogant, and headstrong general. He enjoys destroying everything in the service of Lothor and is highly loyal to him, but there are instances where he couldn't stand him. He hates the Power Rangers so much he often expresses his frustration with hearing their names or being defeated by them. Above all, he likes nothing but evil, but like most villains present in the show, he does show a sense of humor occasionally and has plenty of comedic moments. Although very loyal to Lothor, when he was attacked by Vexacus, he offered to join forces with him. This could mean he was not loyal enough to not ditch his master to save his own skin, or he may have planned to portray a helper to Vexacus but then destroy him for Lothor when he would get the chance.
Powers and Abilities[]
Being the second-in-command general, Zurgane is one of the more powerful warriors in Lothor's army. In the first part of the three-part episode "Thunder Strangers", he is strong enough to best all three Wind Rangers in Battle.
Powers[]
- Teleportation: Zurgane can teleport to any location at will.
- Finger Blasts: Zurgane can fire energy blasts from his fingertips that are powerful enough to take down the Ninja and Thunder Rangers all down with one blast.
- Capture Sphere: As shown in Blake's flashback during the third part of the four-part episode "Return of Thunder", Zurgane can also fire white colored energy spheres from his hands that can capture his enemies, which is similar to Choobo's ability.
- Face Laser: In Lothor's ship during "General Deception Part 1", Zurgane accidentally fired a purple laser from his face.
Abilities[]
- Strength: In the first part of the three-part episode "Thunder Strangers", he is strong enough to best all three Wind Rangers in battle.
- Armor: Zurgane has super strong armor that can take many hits and not even get a scratch. He survived the destruction of his ultimate Zord, not to mention the obliteration of the other three Zords on top of that, and even being slashed by the fragment of his own shattered sword just knocked him back.
- Sight: Zurgane can see despite lacking visible eyes.
- Speech: Zurgane can also talk despite lacking a visible mouth.
- Technical Adviser: Zurgane is an expert adviser in technology, being able to fix objects on Lothor's ship and create his Zurganezords.
- Kelzak Summoning: Zurgane is able to summon an army of Kelzaks to aid him in battle.
- Quick Attack: Zurgane can zip out of his Zords and jump around the battlefield, striking down his enemies with a large barrage of attacks. He did this to the Wind Rangers after being dared to leave his Hyper Zurganezord and knocked them straight off of their Ninja Gliders.
- Monster Upgrade: Zurgane has the ability to upgrade a monster's power, as shown in the episode "Boxing Bopp-a-Roo", when he gave Bopp-A-Roo larger black colored boxing gloves.
Weaknesses[]
- Zurgane appears to have no weaknesses.
Arsenal[]
- Shoulder Swords: Zurgane has swords on his shoulder pads that he can pull out for an aid in combat. In the episode "General Deception-part II", they were powerful enough to cleave the Storm Striker's weight ball in two with a single slash.
- Sword Lasers: Zurgane can fire blue energy lasers from his swords in rapid succession.
- Sword Blast: By crossing his swords together, Zurgane can fire a purple energy blast from the point they meet.
- Energy Deflection: Zurgane can deflect energy attacks with his swords, as shown when the Ninja Rangers used their Ninja Blasters against him during the Hyper Zurganezord battle. He was also able to send them back using his sword with enough force to blast them all down.
- Energy Empowerment: Zurgane can slash at opponents with red energy gathered from his swords.
- Lightning Ground Waves: In the first part of the two-part episode "Thunder Storm", Zurgane can slam his swords down to release orange lightning waves that will run along the ground to be unleashed at his enemies as seen when he was fighting Cam, Hunter, and Blake in the Abyss of Evil.
- Lightning Laser: Zurgane can combine his swords and charge them up to fire a light purple colored energy laser with lightning of the same color around it.
- Zurganezords: Zurgane can pilot Evil Zords called Zurganezords.
- Personal Alien Manager: Zurgane sometimes uses Lothor's P.A.M. to summon monsters and make them grow through the Scroll of Empowerment.
- Humanization: In "General Deception Part 1", the P.A.M. was used to give Kelzak Furies human disguises.
- Decloaker: Zurgane was given a device by Lothor which allows him to release a red-yellow beam that reveals anything that are concealed or hidden and a light green beam that does the opposite.
- Clone Disc: After his third Zord was destroyed, Zurgane used a disc that held cloning programs on the abilities of the Rangers' Zords to power his fourth and final Zord.
