"And there we go. The Zord Jammer is ready for launch! Fly, my pretty! Fly!"
Slyther before and after deploying the Zord Jammer.[src]

The Zord Jammer was a four-faced robotic fairy/jellyfish-like device that served as the titular plot device in the season 2 episode of Power Rangers Dino Fury "Jam Session" and the primary threat of that episode.

Overview[]

This jellyfish-like robotic creature was created by Void Knight as a way to jam the Dino Fury Power Rangers' Dino Zords.

History[]

After Void Knight succeeds in awakening Santaura with his machine, he begins working on going home and leaving Earth. To make sure the Rangers do not interfere with his plan, Void Knight designs the Zord Jammer, planning to use it to block the Rangers' Zord summoning signals that he has secretly recorded in previous fights. For construction, he enlists the aid of the recently hatched Junkalo after seeing the latter's ability to eat trash and regurgitate them into metal. Once Junkalo hands Void Knight enough parts, he has Slyther begin construction whilst he sets out to record the signals for the Pacha Smash Zord & Baby Pacha Zord as they are the most recent Zords the Rangers acquired. Once Junkalo successfully lures the Rangers out and forces them to summon the Pacha Zords, Void Knight records their signals and goes back to Area 62 to finalize the Jammer.

Once the Zord Jammer is complete, Void Knight has Slyther and Doomsnake join him in Pine Ridge to activate the device. The Rangers confront Void Knight, but Slyther successfully activates the Jammer as it rises onto the air and grows to giant size. Zayto asks Solon for the Zords but they do not respond due to the Zord Jammer’s waves. Void Knight is pleased that the Jammer is working and tells Zayto how he recorded every signal from their Zord fleet to his advantage. Zayto and Aiyon focus on destroying the Zord Jammer but none of their attacks work as the device repels them. Despite the initial disadvantage, the Rangers seek to find and awaken the Ptera Freeze Zord as it is the only Zord whose data Void Knight did not record prior to construction. However, Mucus overhears them and warns Void Knight about the new Zord. Not wanting the Zord Jammer to be destroyed, Void Knight goes to Blackwood Valley with his entire crew so they can find it before the Rangers do. Unfortunately for Void Knight, Javi Garcia succeeds in freeing the Ptera Freeze Zord and has it attack the Jammer. Zayto transforms the Ptera Freeze Zord into its Battle Mode and the Rangers freeze the machine before destroying it with the Freeze Strike.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Summoning Negation: The Zord Jammer could constantly produce color-varied pulses from its eyes and body that prevents the Zords from being summoned.
  • Enlarging: The Zord Jammer could enlarge itself to giant size at will.
  • Levitation: The Zord Jammer could hover in the air and prevent itself from making contact with the ground.
  • Energy Shield: The Zord Jammer could conjure up a blue energy shield to protect itself from enemy attacks.
    • Deflection: The Zord Jammer was able to deflect the Rangers' attacks with their Boost Keys using its energy shield.
  • Optic Lasers: The Zord Jammer could fire purple energy lasers from its optical sensors.
    • Laser Spread: The Zord Jammer could also fire its optic laser in a two-way spread.

Abilities[]

  • The Zord Jammer had no special abilities.

Weaknesses[]

  • New Zords: The Zord Jammer was unable to block signals going to Zords that Tarrick had not scanned beforehand.
  • Body Encasement: After its body was encased in ice, the Zord Jammer was unable to project its summoning negation power.

Arsenal[]

  • Bladed Legs: Although it never used it, the Zord Jammer had blades on its leg-like structures to slash at opponents.

Behind the Scenes[]

Portrayal[]

  • The Zord Jammer was not voiced due to being non-sentient.

Design[]

  • The Zord Jammer appears to be a flying robotic entity that resembles an ocean jelly with four faces at the bottom.

Etymology[]

  • The Zord Jammer's name is combined from the words "Zord" and "Jammer".

Notes[]

  • The Zord Jammer had a special prop created specifically for use in a few scenes for Power Rangers. In Ryusoulger, it was portrayed exclusively by CGI due to both its complicated appearance and because it would only appear in the sky without fighting.
  • The Zord Jammer is the second major threat in the Power Rangers Dino Fury series to not be either a major villain/antagonist and/or a Sporix Beast the first if which being Santa's Magic Sketchbook.
  • In Ryusoulger, the Zord Jammer's counterpart was a Sporix Beast but like Santa's Magic Sketchbook, it was changed to being a non-sentient regular object since all Sporix in Power Rangers are animalistic and humanoid in design instead of inanimate objects.
