This article is about an evil zord in Power Rangers Dino Thunder. |
The Zelzord was a large squid-themed Zord that appears in the second part of the two-part series finale of Power Rangers Dino Thunder "Thunder Struck". It is Zeltrax's personal giant Zord, is his third/final creation and alongside Zeltrax, serves as the penultimate threat of Power Rangers Dino Thunder before the Dino Thunder Rangers' final battle against Mesogog.
History[]
The Zelzord is created by Zeltrax and the Triptoids during the extensive amount of time that he is presumed dead after being defeated by Conner's Triassic Battlizer.
The Zelzord arrives in Reefside just as Ethan is about to attend a gaming convention and immediately rips a massive hole in a mountain. Ethan calls the other Dino Rangers for help and they respond but first have to fight Triptoids and content with the Zelzord blasting them all with lightning.
Whilst Tommy attacks the Zelzord to rescue the captive Elsa and Trent deals with the remaining Triptoids, the main three Rangers summon the Thundersaurus Megazord to combat the Evil Zord. They are evenly matched but Kira leaves to help Tommy as he struggles against the Triptoids inside and the Zelzord uses an energy whip to overpower the Thundersaurus Megazord.
Overpowered, Conner calls for the Mezodon Megazord which he has Ethan pilot whilst he stays in the Thundersaurus Megazord. However, Zeltrax channels his powers through the Zelzord and turns day to night and it then devastates the Zords with a single attack. Even so, the Mezodon advances through more lightning blasts and restrains the Zelzord which allows the Thundersaurus Megazord to rip a hole clean through it, allowing the Rangers and Elsa to escape. Even so, it soon breaks free by charging up a shot and blasting the Megazords but the entire Zord fleet then arrives and perform a devastating combined energy blast that rips through the Zelzord and seemingly destroys it.
However, it survives mortally wounded and begins tearing apart the city with a massive field of suction. With no other choices left, Ethan and Conner are forced to sacrifice the Thundersaurus and Mezodon Megazords by tackling the Zelzord flat on its back in self-destruct mode, all three Zords being obliterated but the two Rangers survive.
Personality[]
Despite initially appearing to just be another pilot non-sentient Zord, the Zelzord proved to have an intelligent AI capable of fighting even without a pilot at the helm. It was vicious, violent, and relentless in its will to destroy, but was also completely silent.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Power: The Zelzord was stronger than any other Zord in Power Rangers Dino Thunder and even more powerful than any monster (such as Goldenrod, Copyotter, both forms of the White Terrorsaurus and Ugly Monster) that the Dino Thunder Power Rangers have fought. Even the Mezodon Megazord was not able to defeat it.
- AI: The Zelzord had its own sentience and AI that allowed it to operate even without a direct pilot.
- Strength: The Zelzord was very powerful in terms of strength, being able to wrestle with and quickly break free from the Thundersaurus Megazord.
- Armor: The Zelzord has thick armor that can withstand attacks from its foes, being able to survive the Thundersaurus Megazord's Dino Drill Attack and the Mezodon Megazord's Hatchet Attack without getting a scratch.
- Invisiportal: The Zelzord arrived in Reefside via an Invisiportal too large for Zeltrax or his minions to summon themselves with.
- Chest Energy Beam: The Zelzord could fire a gigantic red energy beam from its chest. It is the Zelzord's strongest attack since it was powerful enough to rip a massive crater in a mountain.
- Lightning Vision: The Zelzord was able to fire regular or light green lightning beams or blasts from its single eye that caused massive explosions. This attack was very powerful, being able to push back the Thundersaurus Megazord with ease.
- Charge Blast: The Zelzord was able to charge green lightning into its only eye to fire a devastating lightning beam of the same color from it. This attack also had a huge range, being able to hit both the Thundersaurus and Mezodon Megazords at the same time.
- Eye Energy Whip: The Zelzord could also launch out a green energy whip from its eye as well, which it can wrap around and restrain its foes. It was used on the Thundersaurus Megazord, restraining it and slamming it up and down.
- All-Out Chest Lightning Strike: The Zelzord could channel green lightning in front of its face and then launch it at the enemy from its chest.
- Self-Revival: The Zelzord could revive itself after being destroyed.
- Chest Suction Vortex: The Zelzord's most dangerous ability where it can create a massive field of suction in its chest that is strong enough to draw in the Megazords and wreak havoc across the city.
Abilities[]
- Depth Perception: The Zelzord's AI had depth perception despite having just a single eye.
Weaknesses[]
- Backwards Restraint: Although immensely powerful, the Zelzord was helpless when the Mezodon Megazord grabbed it from behind.
- Penetrating Force: Although it shrugged off many finishers, the combined Dinozord attack was able to rip through its entirety and destroy many of its circuits.
Arsenal[]
- Staff: The Zelzord wielded a massive white staff with blue jewels on each end of it for combat.

- Both have the name with the first several letters the reflects the pilots' name.
- Both can fire energy beams.
- Both have a form of projectile-based attack that is made up of electric energy.
