This article is about a/an ranger in the Power Rangers comic sub-franchise by Boom! Studios. |
Xev is from Planet 0117 of the A47 Galaxy. He's the brother of Telosi. After an encounter with the Morphinaut, he cycled through multiple Black Ranger powers across time & space, & eventually became the Black Squadron Ranger of the Squadron Rangers.
Later, after sacrificing his Morphin Heart to save the Phantom Ranger, Xev became the Black Emissary, an ethereal entity who represents the Morphin Masters. Adopting the appearance of Power Rangers respectively colored black, he was not shown to have distinct forms, but instead shifted through the forms of various Black Rangers throughout history.
History[]
Prophecy[]
As seen by the philosopher, Sire Lentinvous, sixteen thousand years ago, as he witnessed the beginning of the universe in a vision, the Morphin Masters created the Emissaries from the light of a star, each one a different primary countenance. The purpose given to these Messengers, was to spread peace & tranquility throughout the universe. The Messengers existed outside of time, & could view the entirety of time in a non-linear fashion, allowing them to see into the past, & somewhat into the future. Because they also existed outside of the natural flow of time, they were effectively immortal in that they could not die naturally.
Becoming a Ranger[]
Xev was at the Masterforge Namize when it was invaded by the forces of Dark Specter. During the attack, he was turned into a Spectoid & served Dark Specter during another invasion on Planet 0117. Xev was eventually saved by his brother & friends when the Morphinaut diverted some of his Morphin Energy to him & it counteracted Dark Specter's influence immediately. Later, with his brother Telosi & his friends, he received the overflow of the Morphinaut's Morphin Energy & was turned into the Black Wild Force Ranger. In their new forms, the Morphinaut told the team of Rangers to go to Ori's Proto-Arch & destroy it after using it while Dark Specter unleashed more of his forces. Notes[]
- His costume design is based on the Dairangers from Gosei Sentai Dairanger, but is original for the comic. The helmet & his Morphin Heart is themed after a hippogriff, giving it an appearance similar to the Pink Squadron Ranger's phoenix-themed helmet.[1]
- Because the Kibaranger suit was adapted as part of the Mighty Morphin Ranger suit worn by Tommy Oliver, Xev’s Black Squadron Ranger suit was created to fill the Squadron Rangers’ Sixth Ranger spot.
