This article is about a changer in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger |
The World Thief Transformation Gun Geardalinger (界賊変身銃ギアダリンガー Kaizoku Henshin Jū Giadaringā) is the main transformation device and sidearm of Twokaizer.[1] It is voiced by Tomokazu Seki.[2]
History
Prior to their arrival to Earth, the World Pirates infiltrated the Tojitendo Dynasty at some point and stole the plans for the Geardalinger. With a personal Sentai Gear created by Flint and made in the image of the Gokaigers, Zox uses it to transform into Twokaizer.
At another point in time Zox's younger brothers Ricky & Cutanner were cursed by SDtopia, transforming them into SD-stylized robots. Zox eventually got his hands on Sentai Gears bearing their images, also allowing him to transform into his Ohren Form and Shinken Form.
The nature of the Geardalinger brought into question the nature of the Geartlinger and the Sentai Gears, as the weapon's plans came from within the Tojitendo when it was previously though the similarly-styled Geartlinger & Sentai Gears were produced by Kaito Goshikida's missing parents.
Functionality
The Geardalinger is Zox Goldtsuiker's personal weapon and transformation device. It has two forms, a Gun Form and a Sword Form. As Twokaizer Zox prefers to use the Gun Form, but in his Shinken Form he uses its Sword Form. Transformation is regularly performed with the Gun Mode, though form change can be performed in either form.
The Geardalinger also doubles as a tambourine when struck by the ship's wheel's center. It has different sounds depending on the form being transformed into, though it regularly says "Hey!" on its own. The device can also be used to control Battleship CrocoDaiOh, with the device's ship wheel acting as an actual steering wheel.
Transformation
|
To initiate a transformation, Twokaizer first inserts his respective Twokaizer gear into the top chamber. He then cranks the steering wheel to charge it up before firing a gear shaped energy blast that doubles back and hits him, initiating the transformation.
Special Attack
|
To attack with the Geardalinger in special precise shots, Twokaizer firsts spins the wheel on the device before hitting the wheel in the desired area. After making the desired amount of marks, he then pulls the trigger and/or spins the wheel, firing several shots that hit exactly where Twokaizer had marked.
Finishing Strike
|
To initiate the finishing strike, Twokaizer spins the Geardalinger a second time in his current form. His finisher changes depending on his current form. His default form's finisher is the Twokaizer: Gold Scramble while Shinken Form's finisher move is the Twokaizer: Shinken Strike, and Ohren Form's finisher move is the Twokaizer: Superpower Star Knuckle.
Behind the Scenes
Portrayal
The Geardalinger is voiced by Tomokazu Seki (関 智一 Seki Tomokazu)[3], who previously provided the voice lines of the Mobilates from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the Ryusoul Changer from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, Big One, and both Super Warumono World and Normal Warumono World in the series. Additionally, Seki's Ohranger and Shinkenger quotes are ripped straight from the Gokaiger's equipment.
Design
- The Geardalinger is based on a short pistol, and with its blade extended resembles a pirate cutlass. It also bears a resemblance to a nail gun.
- The Geardalinger could also be based off of a tambourine, due to it producing sound when the ship's wheel's center is struck.
Etymology
- The Japanese prefix reads Kaizoku (界賊 ), meaning "world thief", which is a play on words for "pirate" (海賊 Kaizoku).
- The "dalin" part on the name is a pun on "ship's wheel" (舵輪 Darin), the part of a ship that allows the vessel to be steered and turned.
Notes
- The forms Twokaizer uses are based on teams with at least one weapon that combined elements of a bladed weapon and a gun like the Geartlinger:
- Ohranger - King Smasher
- Timeranger - DV Defender
- Shinkenger - Rekka Daizantou
- Gokaiger - Gokai Spear
- Under the effects of the Retro World, the Geardalinger briefly transformed into a wooden flintlock gun with a small ship steering wheel attached to it.
