"Vancuria? I make no excuses! I feel extremely terrible! The surface? Very well! Listen punks! Now, we of the Infershia are ready! Let's show the bugs on the surface...what true terror tastes like! Devour them all!"
―Victory General Branken's first words when Phantom Spy Vancuria entered the Audience Chamber.[src]

"Ah ha ha ha ha! Finally! We meet! You may call me the Victory General, Branken! Prepare yourselves, you annoying little worms! Bwa ha ha ha ha! I’ve got more than enough power! First, I’ll take care of these pests."
―Branken when meeting the Magirangers for the first time.[src]

"What-- What the hell is going on here?! Hold it! Hades Gate! That’s—This can’t be happening! What’s the meaning of this?!"
―Branken after Heavenly Saint Lunagel re-sealed the Hades Gate.[src]

"How is this possible?! I am...Victory General Branken! "
―Victory General Branken's final words before his death.[src]

Victory General Branken (凱力大将ブランケン Gairiki Taishō Buranken, 1-18) was the high commander of the Underground Hades Empire Infershia who served as the initial main antagonist of Mahou Sentai Magiranger.

History[]

Past[]

Once a High Zobil, Branken strove to reach his rank and proved himself to Absolute God N Ma who upgraded the Zobil into his new most powerful minion. Using his immense power, Branken was able to take control of the Infershia in N Ma's absence and accepted the mysterious Wolzard into his leadership without questioning it.

Magiranger[]

Although Wolzard unlocks the way out of the Kedomono Realm in 2005, Victory General Branken is unable to escape at first because of his immense power and his lack of magic leaves him relying upon his allies to escape. Branken is initially seen berating Vancuria for giving him limited information about the surface world shortly after the defeat of the Hades Beast Troll. He later sends Wolzard to the surface with an army of Zobils to take over the world but he is thwarted by the new Mahou Sentai Magiranger. Tvicon TV STORY-Stage 1: The Morning of Departure

Branken temporarily breaks through to the surface when Wolzard robs the Mystic Titans of their Giant Robo power and uses it to free him. He lands a beat-down on MagiDragon, ripping it apart and is about to make the final strike on Kai but he breaks free and uses a counter-spell to imprison Branken once more. He cries out to Wolzard for help but the general lets him get resealed since he has what he came for. Tvicon TV STORY-Stage 6: The High King of Darkness

After the death of Hades Beast Leech and Vancuria's failure to destroy the Magirangers with a vampiric Houka Ozu, Branken deems her weak and banishes her from the Infershia for fear of death. Tvicon TV STORY-Stage 12: The Mark of Determination

Once Heavenly Saint Lunagel is captured by Wolzard, he uses her power to raise the Hades Gate to the surface and Branken manages to force himself into the surface realm before the gate closes. Tvicon TV STORY-Stage 17: Tenderness isn't Needed

Branken's Death

Branken's Death

Branken overwhelms the Magirangers until Lunagel is freed by Kai and seals the Hades Gate, cutting off an invasion by the Infershia and leaving Branken alone on the surface. As Branken reacts in horror to his fading power, Kai arrives on Barikion and slashes Branken before forming FireKaiser and hitting him with the Fire Spinning Braid. As the Magirangers regroup, an enraged Branken reveals his origins before proclaiming that the Infershia will rule so the Magirangers form MagiKing once again. They gain the upper-hand against Branken, granting them access to a new spell just as the Infershia general unleashes his signature Hell Slash. They counter with the Magical Slash but, rather than being defeated by the Hell Slash as happened before, Branken's sword is immediately frozen when the blades collide as Miyuki has manifested her spirit to aid them. With his only source of dark magic gone, Branken is defenceless and can only watch as they finish him off with the Magical Family Slash with him only having time to express shock before being obliterated. Legacy[]

All that remained of Victory General Branken was his sword which Wolzard found and claimed for himself. He would later reforge it into another WolSaber (the original having been destroyed by Kai during their earlier battle).

With Branken dead, Vancuria was able to successfully rejoin the Infershia without fear of death and resurrected Sorcery Priest Meemy to replace him as the acting leader. Tvicon TV STORY-Stage 19: The Magic Lamp

Personality[]

Branken believed that the weak had no place in Infershia and had a short temper, attacking any ranked lower than him who displeased him. Branken was part machine, and had gears that moved and a standing horn that spewed steam when he was angry. After Wolzard allowed Kai to reseal him, Branken developed an intense rivalry with the knight and attacked him on multiple occasions.

Forms[]

MF Styxoids

High Zobil

Branken was originally a mere High Zobil (ハイゾビル Hai Zobiru) before fighting his way to the rank of general. The High Zobil form of Branken himself was never seen and only acknowledged by him in his final battle.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Super Physical Strength: Victory General Branken possessed Herculean strength, able to hurl MagiDragon (with MagiPhoenix riding it) with one arm with relative ease and even ripping it apart into the individual mecha forms with a single slash of his sword.
  • Durability:, Branken was hit by Fire Kaiser's Spinning Fire Braid which knocked him down and didn't even wind him.

Abilities[]

  • Skilled Fighter: Branken was an incredibly good fighter in spite of his arrogant nature, being able to match Wolzard during a sword fight and overwhelming all five Magirangers in their mecha forms and even MagiDragon with ease.

Weaknesses[]

  • Lack of Magic: Due to lacking magic, with his abilities instead being derived from N Ma, Branken was unable to escape the Kedomono Realm without immense magical assistance.
  • Hell Fang: Branken's Hell Fang sword was the only source of his dark magic since his High Zobil origins did not allow him to have natural dark magic. When MagiKing froze it, Branken was rendered powerless and was completely powerless to stop his death.

Imperial Sword Hell Fang

  • Imperial Sword Hell Fang (皇剣ヘルファング Ōken Heru Fangu): Victory General Branken's sword which was forged from one of N Ma's fangs and was extremely strong.
    • Energy Slash: Branken could also charge up his energy with purple energy and swing his sword at full force. He only performed this once, as the opening attack of his last battle but it horribly shook up MagiKing.
    • Energy Shockwave: Branken could charge up his sword with golden energy and then stab it into the ground and unleash an energy shockwave. This was powerful enough to make parts of his throne room's ceiling collapse and destroy several High Zobils.
    • Hell Slash: (地獄のスラッシュ Jigoku no surasshu) Branken's signature attack where he could charge up his sword with dark magic spewing and will swing it at full force to unleash a devastating upward purple energy slash. It was strong enough to take MagiKing down with one hit and mention to take the Magirangers right out of their mecha forms and de-morph them.
