Venus Island
The Venus Island was a jungle infested island in another dimension. It only appeared as the eponymous primary setting of the episode "Welcome to Venus Island".
History[]
Lord Zedd saw Bulk and Skull messing around and imitating his Putties on the beach to try and lure out the Power Rangers to discover their identities. Through some extreme jumps in logic, he sent down his Putties to kidnap Trini's neigbor Hallie to prove himself as the ruler of the universe. Goldar and the Putties quickly arrived and kidnapped Hallie, bringing her to Venus Island. since getting hold of Tommy was Zedd's real goal. However, Goldar had managed to lose a bottle of instructions in the "battle" which really angered Zedd and forced him to change his plans. The altered plan amounted to "give me Tommy or I will turn Hallie evil forever" since Zedd still wanted to strip him of his powers. Venus Island only exists for as long as Zedd wishes but can also vanish in an instant which would doom Hallie forever. They set Hallie up in a cave in a forcefield covered box with a spell to turn her evil over time and she would be iredeemable when the red fog reaches over her head. Once they arrived on Venus Island, Zedd created the Invenusable Flytrap from a flytrap on the island's beach as part of a trap and capture the Rangers, the monster screaming with rage before walking away. The Invenusable Flytrap welcomed the Power Rangers to the Island and hoped they'd enjoy it there since they'd never leave before proclaiming herself the mistress of Venus Island.The Rangers attacked but, despite being heavily outnumbered, she easily overwhelmed them and cut every one of them down with her bare claws. Even when Trini and Tommy tried to cut them down with their Power Daggers and Dragon Dagger, she just knocked the weapons aside and bashed them down down. The Rangers then regrouped around their fallen comrades but the Flytrap opened her chest compartment and absorbed four of the Rangers into her although Trini and Tommy were too far back to be absorbed.
The Flytrap then delivered Zedd's ultimatum; give Tommy up to become the Evil Green Ranger again and they get back Hallie and the captive Rangers. However, the remaining two's response was to flee back to the Command Center where they had to race against the clock to get to Venus Island before it disappeared. Tommy learned that Zedd would free the girl if he would take up her place, becoming the evil Green Ranger again. Tommy agreed but Alpha found a way for Tommy and Trini to save their friends. The Invenusable Flytrap's weakness was found to be heat since too much of it would eject the Rangers. The duo returned to Venus Island and jump kicked the Invenusable Flytrap back which Billy heard so they combined their Power Coins together and started heat punching her in the stomach.
On the outside, Tommy and Trini realized that they heard them so they performed a devastating jump punch that sent the monster flying. They then charged heat into their fists and blasted the monster with heat at the monster. The combined heat made her so weak that a single punch from Jason allowed the trapped Rangers to get free from the monster since the heat ripped open her chest and ejecting them from her. For the remainder of the battle she was seen holding her stomach as her chest flaps stayed open whilst moaning in pain and pleading for the Rangers to stop. Enraged to the point of insanity, the Flytrap claimed that they were her prisoners and had no right to escape so charged but the Rangers produced the Power Weapons and jumped at her. She was first stunned by a Power Bow arrow and a Power Dagger, then knocked back by a combined Power Axe and Power Lance slash, then knocked down entirely Jason's Power Sword and Tommy's Dragon Dagger. Weakened, she clutched her chest and told them that she was enraged but the Rangers formed the Power Blaster. The Flytrap could only scream in outrage as the Rangers fired and obliterated her. After screaming at his minions a bit, Zedd tried to salvage the situation by domming Hallie and sinking the island into the sea with her on it. However, the Rangers were able to rescue Hallie by destroying the forcefield with Trini's Blade Blaster and returned to Angel Grove before Venus Island sunk.
Since Lord Zedd was purified by Zordon's Energy Wave four years later, it is most likely that Venus Island can never rise to the surface of the ocean ever again.
Behind the Scenes[]
- The only reason that writer Judd Lynn created Venus Island was to have an excuse to waste time with a weather balloon since the amount of footage of the Invenusable Flytrap totalled only six minutes and they needed around ten minutes.
