Tsuyoshi Kijino (雉野 つよし Kijino Tsuyoshi) is Kiji Brother (キジブラザー Kiji Burazā), the Pink Ranger of the Donbrothers.[1] He briefly turns into a car-themed Hitotsuki called Gekisouki (激走鬼 Gekisōki, lit. Racing Demon) possessing a Carranger Sentai Gear out of a desire to make those who hurt his wife pay. Sonoi later briefly turns him into a sun-themed Hitotsuki called Taiyoki (太陽鬼 Taiyōki, lit. Sun Demon), possessing a Sun Vulcan Avataro Gear out of a desire for Miho to stay by his side. He later turns into a cloud/animal-themed Hitotsuki called Hyakujuki (百獣鬼 Hyakujūki, lit. Hundred Beasts Demon) [2], possessing a Gaoranger Avataro Gear out of a desire for Miho to come back. He later evolves into Hyakujuking (百獣鬼ング Hyakujūkingu).[3]
Tsuyoshi is 33 years old at the beginning of Donbrothers. He is the eldest member of the Donbrothers team.
History
Tsuyoshi was married to Miho Kijino, and worked for Pheasant Consultant. The two shared a happy relationship, with Tsuyoshi not knowing of Miho's real identity as a Juto.
As he battled alongside the Donbrothers, Tsuyoshi gradually learned the human identity of each of them, except for that of Inu Brother - a man named Tsubasa Inuzuka. Tsubasa was searching for his lost girlfriend, who happened to have much of the same characteristics as Miho. Tsuyoshi bonded with him over this, as he thought they were similar in the affection they had for their women. He often offered his own house as refuge for Tsubasa when the latter was on the run from the police.
Gekisouki Incident
After finding out that his wife Miho had almost gotten into a motorcycle accident, Tsuyoshi began having thoughts of vengeance against the people who tried to hurt his wife. After the defeat of Kousokuki, Tsuyoshi visited his wife again at the hospital, and swore to himself that anyone who harmed her would pay. TV STORY-Don 14: Substitute Jiro Looking at his wedding picture, thinking about Miho in the hospital, his pent - up anger rose, whose resulting negative emotions turned him into Gekisouki. He sprinted at super speed and became obsessed with traffic safety, using his Hitotsuki powers to make vehicles and the people operating them disappear to clear the roads. In the process, he blindly fought his teammates, who remained unaware of his Hitotsuki status.
His rampage as Gekisouki was stopped by Sonoi - who cut him down in a plan to free an imprisoned Taro Momoi from the Noto's dimensional prison. As Gekisouki began to dissolve, Jiro Momotani grabbed onto his body, transporting them both to the Noto's prison. Tsuyoshi came to his senses, with no memory of how he ended up there or who the strange Ranger with him was. Jiro pleaded for him to become Kiji Brother, as he needed his wings to rescue Taro. Tsuyoshi quickly changed and spread his wings, turning them into sails to help Jiro reach Taro's prison cube, with all three of them ejected back into the human world afterwards.
Once they're back, Tsuyoshi screamed in pain as he reverted back into Gekisouki, with Taro promising to save him. Both he and Jiro entered into a tag team battle against Gekisouki. The two purified Tsuyoshi with a combination attack. Tsuyoshi, after his defeat, realized all the horrible things he had done as a Hitotsuki and cried, begging forgiveness from Taro as Jiro checked on him.
Taro collected the purified Carranger Sentai Gear, which became the Carranger Avataro Gear upon his picking it up. TV STORY-Don 15: Welcome Back Taro
Taiyoki Incident
After Taro lost his second duel to Sonoi, the rest of the Donbrothers fretted in Cafe Donbura as Taro had gone missing. Shinichi was concerned that Sonoi could have killed Taro, but Tsuyoshi and Haruka did not believe that and remained hopeful Taro would come back safely to them. At the same time, the Noto trio demanded a meeting with the Donbrothers, trying to take over the team now that Taro was out of the equation.
After some squabbling, Tsuyoshi suggested some game ideas to decide whether the Noto should lead the Donbrothers or not, including a peanut throwing contest, a game of silence, and finally, an eating contest. Haruka and Tsuyoshi failed the second and third challenge, respectively, so Sonoi suggested a more dangerous game: that all three Donbrothers would have their desires amplified and if they did not turn into Hitotsuki, then they would be considered equals. The three were affected and succumbed to their desires: Shinichi wanted to keep his zen way of living, Haruka wanted to continue her manga career and Tsuyoshi was still feeling subconsciously insecure about his marriage to Miho. All three of them became the Sun Vulcan themed Hitotsuki, Taiyoki, but a recovered Taro burst in and managed to snap Shinichi and Haruka out of it and revert them to normal.
With his desires to protect Miho amplified, Tsuyoshi was unable to return to being human on his own and ran away through an invisible door. He raced through a valley and was stopped by his teammates, with Taro vowing to return him to normal as many times as needed to help him. Taiyoki proved to be far stronger than Tsuyoshi’s previous Hitotsuki form, summoning a blinding miniature sun and unleashing energy slashes from his hands by channeling Vul Eagle’s sword techniques. The knocked down Ranger trio were overwhelmed but Taro, using his newly achieved GolDon Momotaro form, successfully defeated Taiyoki and returned Tsuyoshi to normal.
At Cafe Donbura, Tsuyoshi groveled and begged for forgiveness from Taro, who was sternly looking down upon him. TV STORY-Don 33: The Wasshoi Bird
Conflict with Tsubasa
Some time after his stint as Taiyoki, Tsuyoshi invited Tsubasa to his house for dinner and to meet his wife. When the two finally met, Miho apparently regained her memory as Tsubasa's girlfriend Natsumi Kuramochi and promptly ran away from Tsuyoshi to come back to him. Tsubasa wanted to see Tsuyoshi later to properly straighten things out, only to be betrayed to the police by the latter.
Tsuyoshi attempted to talk Miho into going back with him, but the woman appeared to no longer remember him as her husband anymore, firmly believing that she was Natsumi. Tsuyoshi's efforts came across as harassment, leading a police officer to put him in jail, ironically the same one where Tsubasa was being held. Although he was allowed to go free, he had resolved to treat a porcelain doll as "Miho" to cope with his grief. This stopped once Miho seemingly returned to being "Miho" and went back to him.
Meanwhile, Tsubasa, knowing that Tsuyoshi's wife was actually a Juto that had copied the appearance of his girlfriend Natsumi, was told by Sononi he could bring back his girlfriend if he killed "Miho" in the real world. Acting on the advice, Tsubasa brought the Ninjarksword with him and assaulted "Miho". Tsuyoshi, unaware of the situation, retaliated in anger, attacking Inu Brother relentlessly for having tried to kill his wife. Just as he had Tsubasa on the ropes and fired a finishing blast from his Donblaster, Sononi shielded the latter from the fatal shot, to the horror of Tsuyoshi.
Hyakujuki Incident
Once the Donbrothers had known the identity of everyone in the team, Tsuyoshi confronted Tsubasa over the issue of his "wife", who had not returned after the latter's attempt on her life. Tsubasa tried to explain Miho had always been a Juto since day one, but Tsuyoshi did not listen. Taro intervened and confirmed Tsubasa's claim, to which Tsuyoshi refused to believe, storming out to search for Miho himself, but to no avail and his desire to find her turned him into the Gaoranger-themed Hitotsuki, Hyakujuki.
Haruka and Shinichi were transported and transformed into their ranger forms to face Hyakujuki, which they deduced was Tsuyoshi. He then suddenly transformed into Hyakujuking and fired at Saru Brother, Oni Sister and Sonoi, who joined in an attempt to kill the Donbrothers. Without Don Onitaijin or Toradoragonjin, the heroes had no way of fighting Hyakujuking until a giant Avataro Gear summoned a mysterious mecha, which easily defeated Hyakujuking and forcing him to revert back into his Hitotsuki form. Sononi and Sonoza arrived to warn Sonoi about Sonoshi's return with Sonogo and Sonoroku, who then appeared and slayed Hyakujuki. Tsuyoshi reverted back to normal as he was sent back to the Noto's prison dimension, much to Haruka's and Shinichi's horror. TV STORY-Don 45: Laughing Village, Rugged Village
Tsuyoshi was later set free along with the taxi driver, Yoshioka, Black Bear, Sakaki and all the other prisoners by Sonoi using the Ring of Forgiveness. He later then joined his Donbrothers companions and the three Noto generals against Sonoshi, Sonogo and Sonoroku. TV STORY-Don 46: A Natsumi Night's Dream Unbeknownst to him, the "Miho" Juto had been murdered by a horde of Cat Juto when he was imprisoned.
A new relationship with Natsumi
Following the end of the Juto's threat, Tsubasa had been reunited with Natsumi. He formally introduced her to Tsuyoshi and tried to comfort him after the loss of "Miho". Tsubasa's overtly direct manner of doing so, however, did not make Tsuyoshi feel better, consequently making him appear inconsiderate to Natsumi. This, coupled with a few other issues between the two, ultimately made Natsumi break up with Tsubasa.
Natsumi visited Tsuyoshi as he was about to move to another place, wanting to forget about Miho. She explained that she still remembered her copy's life with him even when trapped in the Juto's forest, and wanted to continue that dream with him in the real world.
After the Donbrothers had defeated Sonoya and Sonona, Tsuyoshi and Natsumi became an official couple.
Donbrothers vs Zenkaiger
Some time after the final battle, Taro had stepped down from being the leader of the Donbrothers in favour of Jiro. Tsuyoshi and Natsumi's relationship was still going strong, and thanks to Jiro's financial support, Tsuyoshi rose to a new position as the chairman of Pheasant Consultant. However, he and the rest of the team had become tired of Jiro's leadership and quit the Donbrothers even after Taro's return. Upon seeing Taro fall in battle alone against Kikaiki, Tsuyoshi and the others changed their mind and took up arms again.
Thanks to Sonoi, Taro was able to come back to life and lead the Donbrothers. Tsuyoshi helped his team and the Zenkaigers defeat Kashiwa Mochi World and Kikaiki. Later, he resigned from his chairman position, choosing to become Kiji Brother under Taro's leadership once more.
Personality
Tsuyoshi is a man who lives like he has nothing to lose and while he has no dreams of his own, he does everything he can to support the dreams of his wife, Miho Kijino.[4] Tsuyoshi does have some issues with his confidence, as he sees himself as nothing special and is a bit timid at times. While he is a good worker, he is often pushed around by his boss and due to the misfortune effects of being a Donbrother, his ideas for his company are seen as mediocre at best and not recommended by his superiors.
Generally, Tsuyoshi is well - meaning and willing to help ou other people, even offering his house as a resting place for Tsubasa despite his apparent status as a criminal. He does not have a high opinion of himself, though, believing that a "average loser" like him has no business being the husband of a "perfect" woman like Miho. His lack of self-confidence at one point turns into full - on insecurity, as he feels an ordinary person such as him does not deserve Miho, thinking that she is ashamed of him. He has used Kibi-Points to be the more assertive, successful man that he assumes she would be proud of, only for his wife to reveal she hates his arrogant behavior and genuinely loves him as he is.
Being around Taro Momoi and his positivity has stirred up motivation in Tsuyoshi, as he wants to change and improve himself in several ways, such as doing exercises and trying new things like learning how to polish a hard floor with a rag.
Despite his clumsy and humble persona, Tsuyoshi can be cruel if anyone dares to hurt his wife. On an occasion, he tackles Don Momotaro when he is trying to purify a Hitotsuki-corrupted artist. It gives an opening for Sonoi to apparently kill the artist instead, shocking the rest of the Donbrothers. Tsuyoshi is even satisfied with this result, believing that he would do anything to protect his wife no matter who he has to go up against or what he has to do them. This desire for retribution would later consume and slowly turn him into Gekisouki.
As the story goes on, Tsuyoshi's feelings towards Miho gradually transforms into an unhealthy obsession, as he refuses to learn and accept the truth that Miho is actually a Juto in disguise. As he fails to comprehend what exactly happened to his wife, Tsuyoshi begins to show troubling signs of insanity, such as talking to a random china doll that acts as a "substitute" for Miho and imagining it responding back to his conversations. He has no intention to treat those who speak ill or harm his wife in a calm and sensible manner. Not only is his obsession towards Miho the cause of his turning into Hyakujuki, it even leads him to discard his friendship with Tsubasa, baiting him to be jailed by the police as he hides his sinister smile until his plan has succeeded. Late in the series, he is willing to outright kill Tsubasa when he presumes the latter has attempted to take Miho's life. However, he does react with horror when he accidentally shoots Sononi instead of Tsubasa, as the former has done nothing to antagonize his wife that he knows of.
In the final episodes, it is not until Taro Momoi, an individual who is truly incapable of lying, tells him that "Miho" has never really existed and is only a Juto, that he finally realizes he cannot escape the truth anymore. As a result, for a while, he becomes a crabby and irritable person who would be easily set off by anything involving romantic couples. Then, once he has calmed himself down as well as finally accepting the truth regarding the true nature of his beloved wife, Tsuyoshi decides that in order for him to move on from his feelings of heartbreak, he has to abandon everything that reminds him of his beloved wife. This includes resigning from his job at Pheasant Consultant and moving out of the home that he has once shared with her. Only for him to be reunited with her (Miho), in a way, as Natsumi after she has broken up with Tsubasa to continue the "dream" that "Miho" has left behind.

Using the Avataro Gears of Legend Sentai, Kiji Brother has access to the powers of any Pink Ranger of his choosing. However, unlike the other Donbrothers, none of Kiji Brother's Avatar Changes match his gender, typically meaning that when using a female ranger's powers, he is commonly forced to fight with a skirted suit, usually to his embarrassment.

- Taro Momoi/Don Momotaro: Tsuyoshi's relationship with Taro had a rocky start at first, but he began to respect him after seeing how much effort Taro put in to help others. However, no matter how much he respected Taro, his obsession towards Miho always made him clash with the latter. He even ignored Taro when Taro told him to stop the fight with Inui because it was stupid, and also the only one to not revert back from being Taiyoki when Taro appeared and scolded the team for doing another stupid thing. Despite everything, he considered Taro valuable as a leader, who had helped him become a better person at the end of the series.
- Shinichi Saruhara/Saru Brother: Tsuyoshi and Shinichi got on well for having the same view of the team and how to handle a harsh situation.
- Haruka Kitou/Oni Sister: Tsuyoshi was deemed as a weird and a loser by Haruka based on how he looked. Despite already being in the team & knowing each other, Tsuyoshi & Haruka were not particularly close in terms of friendship with each other. He did take part in her various schemes alongside Shinichi, though.
- Tsubasa Inuzuka/Inu Brother: At first, Tsuyoshi considered him a criminal just like everyone else did. Though, after learning of his own girlfriend, he was convinced that Tsubasa was innocent and always supported him in times of need. The two shared a bond over how similar their women were. However, their friendship was broken by Tsuyoshi when Tsubasa managed to re - acquire his wife as his lost fiancee. He betrayed Tsubasa to the police and even tried to murder him when the latter seemingly attempted to kill Miho. Tsubasa, for his part, was understanding enough of Tsuyoshi's plight to not bear any ill will towards him, even trying his best to help him overcome his crisis. Tsuyoshi was unreceptive to his methods, though, and their relationship remained strained in the final episodes. By the time of Jiro's leadership, the two appeared to have made up, as Tsubasa considered Tsuyoshi a favourite customer of his bakery.
- Jiro Momotani/Don Doragoku/Don Torabolt: Tsuyoshi did not like Jiro's antics and was wary of his Dangerous persona.

- Kijinoki's name could either be derived from Tsuyoshi's surname "Kijino" or from Pheasant Demon (雉の鬼 Kiji no oni)
Legend Sentai Devices
The Kiji Brother Ranger Key (キジブラザーレンジャーキー KijiBurazā Renjā Kī) is Tsuyoshi's personal Ranger Key released as part of the "Ranger Key Memorial Edition - Anniversary Heroes and Donbrothers Set". It is unknown if it will appear in a future crossover. Of course as with all Ranger Keys, should it exist, it would be able to transform one, i.e. Gokai Pink, into Kiji Brother.[10]

However, Kiji Brother is more crane-like, as real pheasants have short legs.
- While Kiji Brother is rendered in CGI in full-body shots, his proportional upper body means that for shots where he is viewed from the waist up, he is depicted with a traditional spandex costume. Full spandex suits would later be made for stage shows.[11]
