Trickster Treat is the twenty-first episode of Power Rangers Super Samurai, the second season of Power Rangers Samurai. It is the second "Halloween Special" of the series.
Synopsis[]
Master Xandred and Octoroo deploy a mind-bending Nighlok named Trickster, trapping the Power Rangers in a series of horror movies. The Rangers must figure out what is reality and what is illusion. Will the Rangers escape the nightmare?
Plot[]
Master Xandred and Octoroo take it like an insult that people dress up like monsters for Halloween. That's why Octoroo has Trickster putting bizarre thoughts in people's minds. This way, Trickster creates a dream world. In this dream world, the Rangers, in their Halloween constumes, fight the Moogers.
After fighting them off, the Rangers suddenly wonder how they got there and don't remember dressing up for Halloween. Meanwhile, Trickster is watching what's going on. Trickster then has Mia singing and the other Rangers dancing in front of a crowd. Suddenly, a Mooger shows up with a weapen and blasts at the Red Ranger. The Blue Ranger throws himself in front of the beam, trying to protect the Red Ranger.
The strike causes the Rangers to demorph and face a bunch of Moogars. Trickster makes sure the Rangers flip back and forth but that only leads to them catching on. The Rangers morph to take on the Moogers and then Trickster himself. The Rangers hit Trickster with the 5-Disc Beetle Cannon but it only makes him grow. Trickster grows so much that he's much bigger than the Octo Spear Megazord and kicks the Zord away and keeps toying with it.
The Rangers then notice a sound that a wind mill makes and recognize it from earlier scenes. By striking the wind mill down, the Megazord ends the nightmare. At least, that's what Trickster wants the Rangers to believe but the dream is still going on.
The Rangers continue their fight. After Trickster grows again, they call up Claw Armor Megazord. The Claw Armor Megazord finishes the dream once and for all, thus also destroying Trickster. Master Xandred is furious.

Errors[]
- Due to unmorphed footage being taken entirely from past episodes, the Rangers' civilian clothing constantly changes between shots.
- When firing at Trickster with the Fire Smasher's Cannon Mode, they name the attack as 'Multi Disc Octo Cannon' however as it was being powered by the Claw Disc it should have been named 'Multi Disc Claw Cannon'.
- When the Multi Disc Octo Cannon was fired only 5 discs show when there are 6 discs.
- When Antonio calls for OctoZord to fight Trickster, Octozord appears from a sushi cart instead of Antonio's fish cart. This is due to footage from Shinkenger
- A couple shots of the Gigazord cockpit can be seen despite the Rangers using the Octo-Spear Megazord instead.
- The music from the Morphing and Mega Mode sequences are switched.
- In some shots of Jayden, the Bull totem can be seen for a split second, revealing he is in the BullZord cockpit.
- When Trickster hits the Octo-Spear Megazord, Kevin, Mike, Mia, and Emily, are for some reason in their respective zord cockpits instead of the Megazord's.
- When Trickster says "Either way, you're all gonna lose your minds." the Rangers are briefly shown in the Claw Armor Megazord, as seen with Antonio's console having ClawZord totem instead of the OctoZord.
- When the Rangers are ejected from the Megazord, Antonio is missing.
- For an odd reason when Mike uses his Spin Sword against Trickster, he says "Leave Storm" instead of "Forest Vortex".
- When the Rangers finish off Trickster, they are shown to be back in Octo-Spear Megazord cockpit (as shown as Antonio's console has the OctoZord totem) and Jayden is not in Super mode.
Notes[]
- Unmorphed footage of the Rangers is comprised completely of stock footage, with the actors merely supplying new dialogue. Footage of the Samurai Rangers for this episode was recycled from both parts of "Super Samurai", "He Ain't Heavy Metal, He's My Brother", "The Master Returns", "A Crack in the World", "Stroke of Fate" and "Samurai Forever". For the final Zord battle, footage from the scene of Shogun Mode's transformation was used.
- With the exception of the stock footage, none of the Samurai Rangers appear unmorphed.
- This episode may be placed after "Shell Game" due to the absence of Dayu, Serrator, and the LightZord.
- This marks the first and only appearance of the Kuroko in Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai. The Shiba banner also appears once again after making brief appearances in the flashbacks of Master Xandred's attack on the Shiba House in "Test of the Leader" and "Fight Fire with Fire", and the banner was seen during battle in "Clash of the Red Rangers". In Shinkenger, these were servants that helped stage the "scenery" for the Shinkengers and helped the citizens evacuate.
- The Shinkenger ending stance replaces the traditional Samurai roll call where the other five Samurai Rangers kneel and Jayden stands as he runs his left hand up his Spin Sword's edge for a second.
- The opening is exactly the same as that of the first episodes of Samurai. The only new footage is Shark Attack Mode. Samurai has the logo, not the Super Samurai, with the absence of Rick Medina and Steven Skyler.
- Unlike the previous Samurai Halloween special, this is the only special where the Rangers have an adventure, while the previous one had Nighlok monsters tell their story of their defeat.
- This is also the only Samurai/Super Samurai Special with the physical appearance of Steven Skyler as Antonio Garcia.
- This episode never aired on Nickelodeon UK. It's UK premiere was delayed until November 3rd, 2013 on Channel 5, where it aired in the middle of Megaforce's first run.[1]
- This episode marked the only appearance of the Samurai Rangers' Illusion Mode.
- In the first illusion, the Rangers wear costumes that represent their Zords.
- After the morphing sequence, Trickster states that it was the longest "costume change."
- This is the only episode where every Ranger is shown with an individual morphing sequence.
- In both the other Halloween special and the two Christmas specials, Steven Skyler is not credited because his only appearances are in archive footage. Despite Antonio having original voice clips like the other Rangers, Skyler is not credited in the opening.
- The writer of this episode is Michael Sorich. Who is well known for voicing several monster from Mighty Morphin to Wild Force. Such as Squatt, Triskull, and Retinax.
- During the concert sequence, the Rangers sans Emily comment on their uncontrollable dancing.
