History[]
The history of this Tommy begins by following the history of his original counterpart, up until the late 1990s as he never gained the White Light and Jason, Zack and Trini stayed on the team despite going to the Peace Conference. In the year 2000, after dating Kimberly for a few years, Tommy proposed to Kimberly and she said yes as both got married later that year, unfortunately so did Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, who plotted a scheme to bring down the Power Rangers. During their first year of marriage in 2001, Tommy worked at the Angel Grove Youth Center with his wife, with him teaching kids as a karate instructor while she was a gymnastics teacher. Later that year, Serpentera attacked and destroyed the Command Center, killing Zordon and Alpha 5 in the process.
Tommy decided to take the fight to their enemies on the Moon to avenge Zordon and end Rita and Zedd’s reign of terror once and for all as the Rangers formulated a plan. COMIC STORY- MMPR 30th Anniversary Special
Billy developed a bomb like device called the Benevolator, which in theory would purify the villains with a wave of Grid Energy. Tommy and Kimberly were supposed to plant the device inside the Bandora Palace while they created a diversion to distract the enemy forces by launching an assault outside with their Zords. The plan didn’t go well as Rita discovered the couple in her bedroom planting the Benevolator and preparing to set it up for detonating. She thrashed Tommy around with her magic wand, with Tommy’s falling body cracking the casing of the device. Before she could go in for the kill, Kimberly fired an arrow that pierced Rita’s chest, killing her. His wife was distraught as she only intended to wound the evil sorceress but he reassured her that it was fine as they had no other choice. The Benevolator malfunctions and activates early with the casing comprised, Billy suggests using the failsafe detonator with would cause it to detonate in ten seconds. Realizing that isn’t enough time for both of them to escape, Tommy stays behind to activate the device despite his wife’s objection, wanting to stay with him. He insisted that she bail and gives her one last kiss as she teleports out. COMIC STORY- MMPR: The Return #2
Before Kimberly teleported, it is revealed that Tommy gave her his Power Morpher in case he didn't make it. Just as he was about press the button, a young Selena walked into the room looking at her mother’s body much to his shock. Finister called in for Putties but Tommy fought them off wanting to save her. When he accidentally hit the button, he gave the young Selena his communicator and teleported her off the Moon. COMIC STORY- MMPR: The Return #3
Due to Billy’s miscalculation and the amount of Dark Energy increasing the power of the malfunctioning device, it goes from a pacifying device to something akin to a powerful nuclear bomb. The volatile blast presumably kills all of the evil space aliens and takes Tommy with it, leaving his wife in traumatic grief and raising their daughter all alone while a chunk of the Moon had been broken off by the explosion her husband caused. Following their final battle with Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd on the Moon, the team disbanded and swore to never morph again. Kimberly visited his headstone when she returned to Angel Grove after Trini’s memorial service. COMIC STORY- MMPR: The Return #1
When Selena finally collected the Dragon Power Coin to power the Morphin-Matic to bring back Rita, Olivia pushed her out of the way and inadvertently brought Tommy back. Confused at what was happening and seeing his friends older, Selena morphs into a twisted version of the Yellow Ranger and attacks the team. After Olivia gives his morpher back, Tommy morphs into the Green Ranger once again and rejoins his team. Before Kimberly could kill Selena, Tommy recognizes her as the child he teleported to Earth and revealed the truth to her causing her to teleport to parts unknown. Returning to Earth with his friends, he was happy of their accomplishments and agreed to help his daughter to be the next Pink Ranger after Kimberly steps down. COMIC STORY- MMPR: The Return #4
