Tidemare was a kelpie-themed Sporix Beast and the twelfth Sporix Beast to awaken. He worked under Slyther and was the main antagonist of the season 1 episode of Power Rangers Dino Fury "Storm Surge", which is also the first part of the two-part Gold Ranger Saga.
History[]
Past[]
Over 65 million years ago, Tidemare and the other Sporix Beasts invaded Rafkon, the home planet of Zayto. Though he and his fellow Knights of Rafkon fought hard, the Sporix ravaged Rafkon and removed all traces of life from the planet. The Sporix then turned their attention to Earth but Zayto and the remaining Knights had managed to escape Rafkon and tracked the Sporix Beasts to Earth where they engaged them in battle with the help of the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Despite the Knights initially having the upper-hand against the Sporix, most of them grew enough in power over time to grow giant and force the Knights of Rafkon and their dinosaur allies to retreat. When all seemed lost however, the Morphin Masters arrived and bestowed the Morphin Grid's powers to Zayto and his followers, as the first Ancient Dino Fury Rangers which gave them the advantage they need to defeat the Sporix Beasts and seal them inside of their eggs.
Dino Fury[]
When the Sporix were accidentally released in the modern day during Void Knight's raid on Dinohenge, Tidemare's egg is amongst the Sporix that escape. TV STORY-Destination Dinohenge
Ollie, following the screams of people, heads to the Marina and sees a Sporix Egg on the shore which hatches into Tidemare. He immediately fires off a Splashnado which Ollie dodges and morphs, slashing at him with his Chromafury Saber. However, the Sporix Beast is unhurt and punches him away as the Red, Pink, Green and Black Rangers appeared. The Red Ranger uses the Blazing Dino Key to battle this water monster with the Blazing Fury Blast, but the beast manages to use his Splashnado to disable the attack. After firing his water balls and defeating the Dino Fury Rangers, Tidemare manages to escape with Slyther and Mucus following him, both of which had witness the battle.
Off-screen, Slyther and Mucus manage to catch up to Tidemare and convince him to join them in their plan to hack the Blue Ranger's Drone, which he accepts. Tidemare was then with Slyther and Mucus as they use the laptop to take control of the Blue Ranger's Drone. The Dino Fury Rangers manage to intervene and after Slyther reveals to the Blue Ranger that he tricked him, he has Tidemare take on the Rangers as both he and Mucus teleport away. The Rangers morph and do battle with Tidemare, but despite being five-to-one, Tidemare was far too strong and was easily able to overwhelm them with his sheer power. After countering the Black Ranger's Hyper Strike with his Splash Shield's counter-attack, Tidemare then attempts to make a charging finale strike at the Dino Fury Power Rangers, but before he could do so, a yellow energy laser was fired and pushed the kelpie monster away from the Rangers with a powerful strike. That attack came from the Gold Dino Fury Ranger. After wittnessing the Gold Ranger's power, Tidemare summons an army of Hengemen to aid him, but the Gold Ranger was able to quickly take care of them with his Mosa Blaster. The Sporix Beast then attempts to use his Splash Shield against the Gold Ranger, but his opponent's Mosa Blast was able to go though his shield and damage him. Tidemare then prepares his strongest water ball attack and fires it at the Gold Ranger, but the Gold Ranger then fires his Electro Fury Blade Blast, which not only pushes back his water ball, but was also able to destroy him. Tidemare was then reverted back to a Sporix Egg, to which a very concerned Red Ranger immediately picks up before the Green Ranger got to it. Due to his immediate defeat by Aiyon, Tidemare is unable to use his collected energy to grow. TV STORY-Storm Surge
Tidemare participates at the invasion of the Sporix during the final battle against the Rangers and the Rafkonians. He fights along with Fogshell against the Rangers and the Rafkonians. He is defeated off-screen by the Rangers (minus Amelia), his Sporix Egg was used by Void Queen to create Nemesis and after the Rangers' victory, he is imprisoned forever by Master Red, Blue and Green in a crystal. Personality[]
Tidemare was an arrogantly brutish Sporix Beast who believed his abilities were powerful enough to ward off enemies to which he did prove. He was also shown to be brave as he wasn't afraid when Aiyon appeared before him to fight him though this may just show his bull-headedness to fight.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Tidemare is voiced by Richard Simpson, who previously voiced Draknarok with the same voice pattern as Galvanax and Bulldozertron.
Design[]
- Tidemare was based upon the Kelpie, a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland that has been described to appear as a horse, but is able to adopt human form.
Etymology[]
- Tidemare's name was a pun on ocean tides and mare, which is strange given he was a male.
Notes[]
- Tidemare was the first Sporix Beast in the Power Rangers Dino Fury series to hatch in front of Ollie, fight off against the Dino Fury Gold Ranger, not grow giant, and be reverted back into a Sporix while human-sized.
- Tidemare is the first Sporix Beast to be defeated before growing. The second Sporix Beast not to grow giant was Fly Sporix Beast.
- Tidemare is the first and only Sporix Beast with water abilities to have proper hands since Brineblast has water pistol-style blasters for arms and Crashflood has water wave-like spikes for hands.
- Tidemare had a passing resemblance to fellow Sporix Beast Shockhorn. This is because Shockhorn's costume was recolored and retooled to become Tidemare's Sentai counterpart.
