The Samurai's Journey is the three-part episode and the sixteenth to eighteenth episodes of Power Rangers Ninja Storm based on Cameron Watanabe becoming the Green Samurai Ranger.

Synopsis[]

Part 1[]

Cam laments not being a Ranger, and he won't be alone for long, as the illusionary Madtropolis monster drains the Rangers of their powers! Though they're given a brief boost, and manage to give the monster a good beating, he grows large! Can our heroes take the strain of running the Megazords with what little power they have? Or will Cam have to go against his father's wishes and use the mysterious Scroll of Time to seek out a long lost source of energy?

Part 2[]

Sent more than 20 years into the past, Cam encounters his mother and father during their teenaged years when they first met. He also learns of Lothor's true identity, which hits closer to his family tree than he ever realized! Cam seeks the Samurai Amulet, an artifact of great power that his mother once possessed. Can he befriend his parents in time, and stop the man who will be Lothor from getting it first? Meanwhile, in the present, the Evil Space Ninjas hold a talent search to find new monsters to assault the Earth.

Part 3[]

Though now a Ranger, Cam returns to his Ninja Ops duties. But when Lothor unleashes five monsters at once, the team is split up, forcing the Green Samurai Ranger to return to the battlefield already. When stung by the Sucker monster, and slowly turning into a bug, will Cam's second outing as a Ranger be his last?

Plot[]

Part 1[]

The episode began with Hunter doubting Sensei's abilities and Dustin said that he is strong despite being a guinea pig. Sensei shows them Tameshiwari - the art of brick breaking, and Hunter said that he stood corrected and asked how. Tori said that the power comes not from the body, but from the mind and Sensei agreed. Hunter and the others tried to do the same, but all of them failed.

On Lothor's ship, we see Marah and Kapri arguing in front of Lothor, who was disguised as Madtropolis, and he said to them that they're both evil and he himself have been scared of them. Marah asked if he thinks they're evil and Lothor added that they're beautiful and intelligent too. Kapri thinks that she and Marah are on one of hidden camera shows and Lothor asked if he told them how much he loved having them here. Suddenly, the real Lothor said that he hasn't laughed this hard since the plague on Velcra turned everyone into little piles of black ooze and they realized that it was an illusion. Lothor said to Zurgane that Madtropolis' illusion powers was a nice party trick, but it didn't scream world domination. Madtropolis also said that with his sphere, he can capture the rangers' powers, leaving the earth completely defenseless, and Lothor liked the sound of it.

Back at Ninja Ops, Sensei told the Wind and Thunder Rangers that they have come so far in their training, but they still have a long way to go. After seeing Cam break the bricks, the Rangers asked how he did it and Hunter said that it had to be a trick. Cam upset, tells them that just because someone's not a Ranger, doesn't mean they're completely useless, prompting him to leave to get some air away from his pride getting wounded again and Tori follows after looking at the boys in disgust. Dustin asked the others if he thinks he's mad at them, and Shane said that he's always mad at them but also that he hates them, and Blake asked what they said, and Sensei feared that there were more to it than mere words.

Outside, Cam was skipping stones and Tori asked if he was alright. Cam said that he was tired of the lack of respect and Tori asked who said that he doesn't get any respect and that everything they're able to do is because of what he's able to do. Cam said that it wasn't enough and that he wants more and be a Ranger like them instead of being on the sidelines. Tori asked him to tell Sensei and he said that he had and that Sensei forbid him. Though the other Rangers openly support him, Sensei feels bound by a promise made years ago, but he will think about what they said.

Back outside, Tori told Cam that Sensei just wanted what's best for him and that he has to tell Sensei how he really feels. Tori also told him that Sensei is the reasonable guinea pig she'd ever met. Cam said that if Sensei doesn't listen, he's not going to clean his cage for a month. Meanwhile, Lothor sends down Madtropolis, and after the Rangers fought off the Kelzaks, he steals the Rangers' powers.

Back at Ninja Ops, Cam told them that in order to stop Madtropolis, Cam managed to provide the Rangers with a brief restoration of power, but it soon fails. When Madtropolis grew big, the Rangers needed their Megazords, but Cam said that they'll never last a Megazord fight. After Madtropolis defeated the megazords, Sensei believes only a power source lost long ago can save them. After arguing about it, Cam receives the Scroll of Time, and using it, he travels back in time to find it and when he got to the past, he meets a younger version of his father.

Part 2[]

Years in the past, Cam arrives at the Wind Ninja Academy. Claiming to be a new student, he enters to look for the needed power source before he has to return to the present. He encounters younger versions of his parents (Kanoi and Miko, the first female student in the Wind Ninja Academy) and a previously unheard of uncle (Kiya). Cam discovers that Miko owns the powerful Samurai Amulet. While getting to know her, he doesn't openly tell her who he is, but mentions if his mother ever saw what he was doing, she would be disappointed in him. Miko assures Cam that she would be proud of the person he was becoming. Before he can do anything about it & think of a plan for the amulet, he is framed for its theft.

However, before the Sensei could give judgment, Kanoi interrupted, revealing Kiya not only to be the true thief, but practicing the forbidden dark ninja arts. Kiya then attacked the Academy, but Miko is able to kick it away to Cam who challenges him for it. He and Kiya fight in the forcefield he created. After a long battle, Cam defeats him and the amulet's powers reveal his future as Lothor before breaking the barrier. Kiya is held down and restrained by two of the students. Disappointed in Kiya for stealing the amulet, framing Cam for it, and using dark ninja powers, the Sensei stripped Kiya from his ninja rank, expelled him from the academy. Before being banished off he warns Kanoi he will be back for revenge for his betrayal and denounces his name to become Lothor. Cam tries to stop it, but the Sensei holds him back and places Kiya in an orb of light to be imprisoned in for a long time. He banishes Kiya into space, where he believed that his dark powers could do no harm. Cam warns the Sensei that they need to destroy Kiya now before it's too late. The Sensei reminds him that they can only judge by the present actions, not the future that is unseen. Cam demands the Sensei that they should trust him because he knows what he's talking about. He points out they need to destroy Kiya now before it's too late because he has seen into the future and it's not good. But then the scroll lights up and he's out of time. Cam wanted more time to get to know Kanoi and Miko. She bids Cam farewell and he goes back to the present.

On top of that, Cam returns to the present and saves the powerless Rangers from Madtropolis.

Part 3[]

The episode begins with Cam telling the Rangers that they need to get back to Ninja Ops, and Dustin said that he'll wait for a taxi. Lothor told Dustin to run and Dustin said to Cam that he's right behind them. Blake said that Lothor didn't get enough love as a child, and after trying to run from an ambush, they found themselves trapped between Marah and Kapri, Kelzaks and Lothor, who called Cam nephew and asked him if he didn't like family reunions. Cam told Lothor that he can't choose his own family and he certainly didn't choose him. Lothor said that there's always a place for someone like him in his evil army. Before Lothor and his crew could finish the rangers, Sensei teleported them back to Ninja Ops. Sensei told them that the sphere holds the power of five rangers and only a greater power can open it and Dustin asked about six rangers and Cam thinks Dustin is right. The rangers celebrated getting their powers back and asked Cam how did it all happen.

On Lothor's ship, Marah and Kapri thought that Lothor was feeling sad, and that they wanted to cheer him up, until they realize that he was shaking his protein shake and he said that his doctor told him that he needed to lose a few pounds. Lothor told Zurgane to begin Operation: Alien Outreach and that there would be no escape.

Back at Ninja Ops, the Rangers wanted to talk about Cam's relation to Lothor and Sensei told then that he was of no relation and Cam asked how can he say it. Sensei told them that by law, once a ninja is banished, they cease to exist and that the one he knew as his brother was a mere memory. Cam thinking its unfair, feeling he had the right to know about his full family tree and the others agreed, and Sensei asked would it have changed and would they have fought Lothor differently. After the alarm went off, Lothor sends down a small army of ninja space aliens to Blue Bay Harbor. The six Rangers head out to stop them, but Sucker stings Cam. Now, Cam is slowly transforming into a giant bug.

When the Rangers head back to base, they see the aftermath of Sucker's attack on Cam and he said that he got a little too close to him. Sensei told the others that Starvark has grown, so Shane, Tori and Dustin summon the Storm Megazord to confront him, while Hunter and Blake confront Tentacreep. However, after Tentacreep and Starvark are defeated by the Thunder Staffs and Storm Megazord with Flail combo respectively, Magic Moustache grows and Hiphopper and Sky Scrapper show up. Sensei investigated Cam's condition and said that he has been injected with a toxin, causing Cam to have insect-like qualities. Sensei told Cam that Sucker must extract the toxin from Cam's body and Cam said that basically, he has to get Sucker to reverse what he did to him in the first place and Sensei agreed. Sensei also told Cam that his Green Samurai Ranger powers that had protected him from a worse fate and that every new challenge brings setbacks, and the storm will learn from them and grow stronger, leading Cam to say if that his way of saying "never give up", and Sensei agreed. He also told Cam that his battle with Sucker won't be his last mission as a ranger and Cam thanked him.

The Thunder Rangers fight Hiphopper and Sky Scrapper, while the Storm Megazord fights Magic Moustache, right when Sucker returned. Cam then fights Sucker, uses his stinger on himself and undoes the alien transformation. Right as the Storm Megazord defeats Magic Moustache with the Lion Laser, Sucker then grows and overpowers the Megazord. However, Cam sends in the Samurai Star Chopper, combines with the Storm Megazord and defeats Sucker, right as the Thunder Rangers defeat the last 2 monsters with the Thunder Blaster.

Cam stands tall on a mountain, saying that he did good for his first day on the job, and Lothor said that he will deal with Cam if it was the last thing he does and he will make his nephew pay. Marah interviewed him about his defeat to Cam and he sends her in the TV.

Once back at Ninja Ops, Cam said that he linked his Samurai Saber directly to the Ninja Ops mainframe, so he can be able to continue his strategic duties even in the field. The Rangers surprised Cam by giving him his new uniform, and Sensei said that it takes a powerful man to choose his own destiny. He congratulated him and that no father can be prouder of his son. The Rangers celebrate as Sensei looks at the picture frame of his wife.
