This article is about a/an episode in Power Rangers in Space, the last installment in the Zordon Era. |
The Rangers' Mega Voyage is the seventeenth episode of Power Rangers in Space. It is the conclusion of the four-episode Darkonda arc, introducing the Mega Voyager and marking the end of the first of Darkonda's nine lives.
Synopsis[]
With the Astro Megazord pinned down and running low on power, the Power Rangers find the location of the Mega Vehicles - five powerful space crafts which combine to form the Mega Voyager, and gain control of them with Zordon's key cards.
Plot[]
The battle between the Astro Delta Megazord and Darkonda/Mutantrus resumes. Alpha 6 contacts the Rangers telling them he’s decoded the keycards and that they indicate a powerful weapon hidden on one of Jupiter’s moons. He transfers the cards to the Rangers and they leave Alpha 6 on Astro Megazord to continue the battle while they head for Jupiter on the Delta Megazord.
Astronema is curious about the Rangers’ departure and tells Darkonda to send Mutantrus after them. She begins interrogating the monster that lost the Keycards to Andros and he explains what happened back on Onyx. Astronema panics, tells Ecliptor to get her battle gear and they leave the Dark Fortress.
The Rangers are able to lose Mutantrus during its pursuit and they continue on towards Jupiter. On their approach, they are greeting by an automated voice telling them their ship is under remote control. They enter the station and navigate through it. They come across a hangar door which Andros spots a control panel for a hangar door which he assumes will lead to the weapon. Before they reach the control panel, they are interrupted by Astronema and Ecliptor, leading to a fight. The Rangers buy Andros some time to crack the code for the door. As they are attempting to meet up in the room on the other side of the door, Astronema stuns Cassie (who has the Keycards) but she recovers quickly and is still able to narrowly make her escape.
The Rangers continue through some dark tunnels and Ashley almost fells off the edge of the catwalk but Andros catches her. As they pull Ashley up to check on her, the lights are activated in what turns out to be a massive docking bay for new Zords, the Mega Vehicles. They speculate that Zordon must have left the Zords there for an emergency. The team man their new vehicles and lift off enroute to Earth.
During their return trip, Andros is getting a feel for the controls of his new Zord but is attacked by Mutantrus. He forces the monster to the surface of the moon where the team is able to defeat him and continue back to Earth.
Alpha 6 is panicking as the Astro Megazord is losing power and begins to fail. Cassie notices that there’s a transformation control and they combine the vehicles to form the Mega Voyager. The Astro Megazord’s energy now fully depleted, the Rangers arrive in the Mega Voyager just in time and defeat Darkonda with Mega V3’s missile mode.
After the battle, The Rangers are back on the Astro Megaship making repairs. They determine that the damage is so extensive that repairs will take days. D.E.C.A. is not functioning properly due to the low power levels.
Ecliptor informs Astronema that the energy readings for the Ranger’s ship is unusually low. Elgar attributes this to Darkonda begins praising him, which infuriates Ecliptor. Astronema decides that this is an ideal time to attack Earth.

Zords[]
Errors[]
- The entire end battle sequence from the previous episode was recycled, resulting in the following.
- The Astro Delta Megazord briefly turned into the Astro Megazord upon getting up at the beginning of the episode, with both Andros and Ashley disappearing from the cockpit in different shots and then them magically returning to the cockpit right after the formation returns to being the Astro Delta Megazord.
- Just before the Rangers form the Mega Voyager, Cassie says she's found something called the "Transformation Control". The control actually shown is labeled the "Docking Lever".
- When the Astro Delta Megazord is thrown to the ground by Mutantrus, the viewers can clearly see Japanese signs on the buildings.
- Astronema tells Ecliptor to send Mutantrus to attack the newly revealed Mega Vehicles although how they did this was unclear seeing as the monster wouldn't be able to fit in the Dark Fortress and was last seen floating away through space.
Notes[]
- The opening titles are extended by approximately fifteen seconds beginning with this episode.
- Darkonda is destroyed for the first time in this episode.
- Mega Voyager is the first Megazord to lack the word Zord in its name. It is also the first Megazord to retain its Sentai counterpart's name. The reason for this is that the name is clearly shown in the cockpit.
- This is the first episode to use an orchestral score and it would last all the way to the end of Wild Force.
