The Last Ranger is the thirty-first episode of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.
Synopsis[]
Memorase gives four of the Rangers amnesia. Dana holds the monster off long enough for Ms. Fairweather to restore the Rangers' memories. When they rejoin the battle, they vanquish the demon with the Thermo Blasters and the Lightspeed Solarzord.
Plot[]
The episode begins with the Demon Memorase attacking Mariner Bay and terrorizing civilians by destroying buildings. The Rangers arrive on the Rescue Rover, but Dana stays behind to care for an injured boy, and the others go forward to stop Memorase. Carter orders the team to use the V-Lancers, but the latter overwhelms them with his skills, even deflecting their lasers with his lance. Then, Memorase strikes the Rangers down with an energy wave.
Once Dana finishes tending to the injured boy, she runs to the others’ aide. However, Memorase uses a supersonic sound attack to disorient the Rangers, causing them to demorph as they hold their heads in pain. Feeling satisfied that he knocked them out, Memorase teleports away as Dana comes to their aid. However, Dana is shocked to see that none of them remember who she is, nor that they are Power Rangers.
Dana takes the four back to the Aquabase, as Ms. Fairweather and the other researchers check on them. None of them recognize the area, and Joel claims he doesn’t remember who Ms. Fairweather is. Confirming the worst, Ms. Fairweather says there is one way to get their memories back, but it won’t be easy.
The four Rangers are strapped onto booths as Ms. Fairweather prepares to get their memories back. She believes that Memorase blocked their memories of being Power Rangers, but Ms. Fairweather says that they can force the four to remember those memories by using archive footage of their previous battles and events. Ms. Fairweather starts the process, getting the four to remember how they were first recruited by Dana to come to the Aquabase.
At the Skull Castle, Olympius sarcastically congratulates Diabolico for failing to cause all the Rangers to lose their memories. However, Diabolico argues that they only have Dana left to deal with, meaning that Memorase has easy pickings for the Pink Ranger without her teammates.
Back at the Aquabase, Captain Mitchell expresses concern about the vulnerability of Mariner Bay with the Rangers out of commission, and asks Ms. Fairweather how long the memory restoration will take. Ms. Fairweather says that the machine is at 25% capacity, and is worried that interrupting the process before it’s finished will cause the four Rangers to lose all of their memories. As Ms. Fairweather feeds in more memories at an accelerated rate, she moves onto personal memories to get them up to speed.
Ms. Fairweather starts with Joel, using memories from the time they first met, him rescuing her from the collapsed cave at Mount Jasmine, and her and his younger cousin Simon seeing the team off when they go to off to destroy the Asteroid Monster. For Kelsley, she is given memories of the time she rescued a dog on roller blades in the middle of the street, and stopping a thief. Chad is forced to remember training Kelsley on Tai Chi and fighting Brian, and Carter is given memories of the training drills and getting inspiration from Captain Mitchell, destroying Demonite, and mastering the Mobile Armored Vehicle.
Meanwhile, Diabolico sends Memorase back to Mariner Bay, causing the alarms to go off. Dana wants to go out and stop Memorase, but Captain Mitchell refuses to let her go alone, as he could erase her memories as well. However, Dana sneaks out of the lab and goes off on her own.
Suddenly, Joel wakes up and has his memories back, along with Chad and Kelsley. However, the machine overloads before Carter wakes up, and Ms. Fairweather is too late to shut it down. Although Carter wakes up, he is in pain until Captain Mitchell gets an alert about Dana fighting Memorase. As the other Rangers go out to help Dana, Carter is too dazed to help them.
As the three Rangers come to Dana’s aid, Memorase summons the Battlings to overwhelm them before setting his sights on the Pink Ranger. Dana demorphs in the struggle, but seeing her in trouble causes Carter to remember all the times he spent with her. This causes Carter to get his memories back.
As Memorase corners Dana against a boulder, Carter comes to aid and knocks Memorase aside. Dana remorph and kicks Memorase down, while the others take out the Battlings. With Carter’s help, Dana overpowers Memorase and leads the others to destroy him with a combined blast from the Thermo Blasters in Booster Mode.
However, Jinxer throws a growth card onto Memorase’ corpse and revives him into a giant. The Rangers summon the Rescue Zords and the Max Solarzord, combining to form the Lightspeed Solarzord. Memorase strikes with a power slash from his staff, but the Megazord absorbs the energy and uses its blasters to destroy the Demon monster.
The Rangers return to the Aquabase, with Dana glad to see that her friends are back to normal. As Ms. Fairweather and Captain Mitchell come to set up a difficult training session, Joel tries to feign amnesia to get out of it. However, Ms. Fairweather calls his bluff by claiming that she was going to ask the Green Ranger out, much to Joel’s dismay.
