This article is about a/an episode in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. |
The End[1] is the tenth/final episode of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and the final episode of the overall Power Rangers Dino Fury series. It serves as the third/final part of the three-part series finale and debuts Zayto's form as a full-fledged Morphin Master.
This episode also serves as the series finale of the original Power Rangers main continuity that began in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers; Hasbro had been planning a franchise reboot as early as 2020, although plans for future media are currently stalled as a result of a series of developments behind the scenes, including a recent fallout with Netflix. Synopsis[]
If Team Cosmic Fury can't stabilize the Master Captivator, a wave of pure evil threatens to wipe out all the good in the universe. No pressure, right? [3]
Plot[]
Aiyon wakes up in a void of white before noticing someone ahead that looks like Zayto, but with bright blue eyes.
Bajillia Naire continues her countdown to the destruction of the Master Captivator, only to be interrupted by Mucus and Slyther, who stole a Squidrill, kill the interviewer and fire randomly to give the Cosmic Fury Rangers a chance to escape while Scrozzle teleports away. One blast causes a Zentinel to fly into the Master Captivator, cracking the case before Bajillia orders for a blockade around Eltar as the Rangers retreat with the Master Captivator.
Meanwhile, Aiyon hugs the being, still believing it to be Zayto, until he tells him he is not and is just seeing him as his friend. The being then overhears Aiyon mentioning he is the Gold Ranger and Lord Zedd, leaving him curious, believing the Morphin Grid connected the two. Aiyon then asks the being if he can find Zayto's energy; the being agrees to try.
Just outside Eltar, Mucus and Slyther try their best to blast a path through the many Squidrills for the Rangers' ship to get through, until it was destroyed. Fortunately, they managed to eject in time. Soon, the Rangers then receive a message from Billy Cranston, having received Solon's distress call before a rift opens up, revealing the Dino Megazord, Astro Megazord, Galaxy Megazord, Ninja Blaze Megazord, and Beast-X Megazord, who start to take on the Squidrills. While assessing the situation, the Cosmic Fury Megazord became shocked to see the crack on the captivator get bigger. They then receive another message from Billy before they tell him about how Zedd intended to become a Morphin Master, only to be betrayed by Bajillia. Billy lets them know all the Rangers will continue holding the Squidrills off until they find a solution.
Meanwhile, the being finds Zayto, noting the latter is important to Aiyon, but he is no longer mortal. The being then decided to help Aiyon by informing him his fellow Rangers need his help and will return him to his body, leaving him with a phrase, 'May the power protect you.'
Aiyon regains consciousness on the ship before meeting up with the others, and, having mind read Izzy Garcia when she hugged him, joins in on trying to find a solution to stabilize the captivator before Fern suggests they find a secure place that the blast won't touch anyone. Solon tells her it'll be like Zordon's wave from 25 years ago, where it'll reach every corner of the universe. Javi Garcia makes a remark about how the Morphin Masters should be helping, giving Ollie Akana the idea to send the captivator to the unoccupied Morphin Grid, even if the wave would disrupt it and they, and all the other Rangers around the world, might even lose their powers. Amelia Jones and Fern are both willing to take the risk before the former believes that the way to get it into the Grid, on Aiyon's shared belief, is the Altar of Zordnia, traumatizing Javi as he lost his arm there.
Arriving on Zordnia, the Rangers try to find a way to open the portal while the captivator cracks even more, with Javi insisting he'll put Master Red's staff into the altar, like last time. However, Izzy stops him and wishes to help, giving Ollie an idea that they should share the danger. However, Bajillia, having smuggled herself aboard the ship, tries to shoot them, only for Javi to deflect her shots with the staff until the last one knocks her down before the Rangers soon morph and try their best not to let Bajillia shoot the captivator, and eventually destroy her. However, her discard blaster causes a misfire, hitting the captivator and causing the crack to grow even bigger. With no time to lose, they grab the staff and prepare to insert it into the altar. Before they could even insert the staff, it comes flying out of their hands and into a portal that had just appeared. Zayto, now donning Morphin Master armor, but in champagne, emerges from it before he uses the staff to send them and himself into the Master Captivator.
Inside, they encounter Zedd, but they can't shoot each other, as they're now simply energy. Zayto offers a deal with Zedd to release the Morphin Masters in exchange for release from the captivator. Zedd at first insists he'll find another way to survive, one that doesn't require sacrificing his new power or making a deal with Rangers. Ollie reminds him of his motto "No peace for the strongest, only survival" and asks what Zedd gains from becoming nothing just to hold onto power. With time short, Zedd reluctantly accepts Zayto's deal.
Sometime later, Zayto and the Rangers were unfortunately "defeated" as a giant purified Zedd gloats about it before being called by his wife, Rita Repulsa, to get her a drink, causing him to revert to normal size. However, it turns out to be an illusion, due to being on Nibyro, as Zayto and the Rangers watch the entire thing. The guardian tells them that Zedd will be trapped for eternity unless his spirit is noble. It would also be a trap for any mastermind that intends to free him. Yet, Zayto believes Zedd will eventually become a force for good in the universe, also having potential for redemption.
Back on the ship, Zayto, now with his own staff, the Rangers, Solon and the freed Morphin Masters continue to watch Zedd trying to appease 'Rita' before the Morphin Masters wonder how Zayto was now one himself, which not even he understands, but Aiyon believes it is because of the being that took on the former's likeness. This astonishes the masters, who do not recognize the being. The Green Morphin Master and Aiyon reflect how the prophecy she gave him has truly become true once again. With Zayto's mortal life completely over, the Rangers heartbrokenly bid Zayto farewell and thank him for teaching them everything. He grows to the same height as the Morphin Masters, and they all leave through a portal before the Rangers head home themselves.
Sometime later, Javi performs at a concert, singing a song which included Zordon's phrase, lighting worked on by Mucus and Slyther. However, Aiyon tells Billy that Javi got the phrase from the former when the being said it, which makes Billy believe the being Aiyon spoke to in the Morphin Grid may have been Zordon himself, boosting his determination to find him. Amelia soon gets a message from her parents, saying her sister had already been born and have sent her a photo. She then goes on to say they named her Poppy, after Pop-Pop himself as a thanks for saving Amelia from the explosion of Area 62 when she was a baby and took good care of her ever since.
Quickly sneaking through the stage to show Aiyon, Billy, and Mick Kanic the photo, she overhears Billy and Mick talk about the being possibly being Zordon and might even be a ghost when she spoke to Aiyon and wishes to join in on the search. Soon, the Rangers, their families and Mick, except Billy, storm the stage to celebrate with Javi, all the while being watched by Zayto, via the Morphin Grid.

Errors[]
- When the Dino, Astro, Galaxy, Ninja Blaze and Beast-X Megazords return to help the Rangers against the Squidrills, the Ninja Blaze Megazord "Ranger Blast" Final Attack is shown, a Green blast is shown instead of Gold. In Super Ninja Steel, this attack is supposed to represent the Rangers flying out of the Ninja Blaze Megazord, but there is no Green Ranger in the series unlike its counterpart.
- Additionally, the attack is also shown in rapid-fire with repeated succession, but in Super Ninja Steel, the attack is supposed to only be used once per battle, as the entire purpose of the attack is to is eject the Rangers from the Megazord. This would leave the Ninja Steel Rangers ejected into space and suffocating if used in this battle.
- When the Cosmic Fury Rangers morph, Aiyon's Cosmic Morpher is left open throughout.
- Despite Simon Bennett confirming that Cosmic Fury takes place after the Once and Always special, the way how Billy wonder if the being in the void Aiyon was in was somehow the spirit of Zordon and that he is still out there, he says it like he hasn't tried to bring him back, despite trying to bring him back in said special.
Notes[]
- This is the final episode to be filmed in New Zealand.
- According to Simon Bennett, the episode was titled "The End" to signify the intent that this was to be the series finale of the original Power Rangers series and continuous storyline that has been ongoing for thirty years since Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.[4] The next project will be a reboot in an all new continuity.[5][6]
- This episode marks the return of Rita Repulsa, albeit an illusion made for Lord Zedd. She is voiced by Susan Brady, who voiced Rita as the Mystic Mother from Power Rangers Mystic Force.
- It marks the return of the Dino, Astro, Galaxy, Ninja Blaze and Beast-X Megazords.
- The Ninja Blaze Megazord is the only Megazord from the Saban Brands Era to appear in this episode.
- Conversely, the Disney Era is the only Era to not have a Megazord appear in this episode.
- The entity taking Zayto's form that Aiyon speaks to is heavily implied to be Zordon due to his knowledge of the Power Rangers, Lord Zedd, and the speaking of his iconic phrase "May the power protect you". According to Zordon's actor David Fielding, he believed that the entity's identity was left open-ended and may or may not have been Zordon, instead being an amalgamation of all the mentors in the series.[7]
- David Yost is the only actor to appear in the first and last episode of the original continuity.
- The last words are spoken by Zayto makes him the last character to speak in the original continuity.
- Chance Perez's real life wife and daughter can be seen in the audience during Javi's show.
