Synopsis[]
Someone steals Javi’s song in a competition, and he doesn’t know what to do - but an encounter with the monsters helps him realize that sometimes a change in strategy is what you need.
Plot[]
Javi is preparing for the Songathon, confident he will win with his signature song, Spotlight. Warden Garcia comes in for support as Javi jams to it for his father and the Rangers in the plaza. Later, the group goes to BuzzBlast as the Songathon begins. After Pop-Pop does his set, the next musician up is Blair Bartlett, the former frontman of the Screaming Zombies. To the group’s shock, Blair sings Javi’s song. Angry by this, Javi stops the show and tells the judges that Blair stole his song, figuring that the latter heard it when he was practicing all over town. Blair denies this, and the judges allow the former to continue to do his set. As for Javi, he is rescheduled for the final set the following day, which will give him a chance to make a new song. However, Javi is not happy about this.
Meanwhile, Mucus sees the show at Area 62 and tries to pitch an idea to Santaura. Seeing how Blair was accused of copying Javi’s song, Mucus suggests they copy the Ranger’s attacks and use them against them. However, Santaura says her plan is already in motion as she activates the machine before retreating into her room. She gleefully watches Tarrick having the Sporix energy radiate into him.
The next day, Javi has no ideas about a new song that is good as Spotlight, and he is still mad at Blair for stealing the song. Javi wonders if he should quit the contest, but Solon tells him not to. Suddenly, the alarm goes off as a mysterious being is attacking the stadium. The Rangers teleport to see a monster attacking civilians, although he claims he had met them before. Not knowing what he is talking about, the Rangers morph and attack the monster. However, he proves to be too challenging for them and causes all but Zayto and Javi to demorph. After Zayto demands to know who the monster is, the latter introduces himself as Void King, aka Tarrick. Everyone is shocked that Tarrick has become a monster, as the latter says Santaura corrected his traitorous feelings. Zayto tells Javi to take the others back to the base, confident he can handle Void King.
Zayto summons the Dino Knight Morpher and activates Dino Knight Armor. Although Zayto is evenly matched against Void King, the latter attacks with the Dino Knight Strike, having copied Zayto’s attack. Seeing that he is outmatched, Zayto retreats.
Back at Dinohenge, Solon checks on the injured Rangers as Zayto and Javi discuss Void King’s copying abilities. Zayto wonders how they can defeat someone who knows his moves, but Javi has an idea about that comment. Javi says he can use the Dino Knight Armor to train with Zayto so the latter can spot weak points in his fighting style. That way, Zayto can overcome Void King’s attacks. The two Rangers go out to the field as Javi activates Dino Knight Armor Mode. The two spar as Javi uses the Dino Knight Strike on Zayto. However, Zayto dodges the attack, and Javi prepares for another attack. However, the Dino Knight Strike used up a lot of energy, and Javi finds he cannot do it again. Seeing this, Zayto gets the jump on Javi.
When the two return to base, Zayto believes that the training work as he can attack Void King when the latter uses the Dino Knight Strike against him. As Javi still wonders about his new song, Zayto suggests he does something differently to win the Songathon. Javi takes the idea and goes off to practice, just as the alarm goes off. Void King is back, and Zayto decides to go alone as the team is still injured.
Zayto confronts Void King at the stadium and morphs into the Dino Knight Armor again. Void King attacks with the Dino Knight Strike, but Zayto blocks the attack and charges his own Dino Knight Strike. Despite Void King preparing another attack, he finds out he does not have enough energy to do so. Zayto attacks and lands a direct hit against Void King. Void King retreats, promising that he will be back. When Zayto returns to the base, he sees the Rangers recovering and tells Javi that the strategy worked. Javi says he made a new strategy for the Songathon and asks Zayto for help.
Returning to BuzzBlast, the group prepares to see Javi’s performance, unaware of what his performance is. Javi comes up and plays his Spotlight song but makes a few changes compared to what Blair did. With Zayto’s help, Javi quickly plays through his different instruments, inciting the crowd. After her performance, J-Borg gets a last-minute submission from Mucus as she does a dance routine with the Hengemen. However, the performance ends when Wreckmate blows her up. Afterwards, the judges and the online votes are tallied, and Javi is crowned the winner of the Songathon. Everyone celebrates on stage as Javi thanks Zayto for his help.
