Tengu Warriors in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie

"You want us to take another whack at it?"

In Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie the Tengas were called Tengu Warriors. Upon being reminded that the Power Rangers had gone after the Great Power on Phaedos, Ivan Ooze spat out some purple goo which grew into nine individual growing puddles of ooze. The ooze solidified as the Tenga warriors, who squawked until Ivan silenced them. He then told the birds that their mission was to go to Phaedos and kill the Rangers. They then flew out of the Moon Palace to carry out their mission.

Upon arriving on Phaedos, the Tenga wasted no time in engaging the Rangers. However, they took too long in toying with them, drawing the attention of the warrior Dulcea. She promptly drove them off by spinning the halves of her staff, causing a whistling sound that sounded like "nails on a chalkboard" to the birds. The Tenga returned to Ivan on Earth, briefly lying about their failure. However, once they told him about Dulcea's interference, Ivan became so angered, he blew them up.

Queen Tenga

An early draft of the script has Ivan Ooze, after the Tengus' initial failure at destroying the Rangers, called upon the power of darkness to make lightning bolts supercharge the Tengus' evil tenfold, then he used an energy bolt to create a differently-colored Queen Tengu with glowing red eyes. A "Queen Tenga" appears as a boss in the Game Boy version of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie.

Notes

• The Tengu Warriors, along with their Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Season 3) counterparts, Professor Longnose from Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, and his Ninja Sentai Kakuranger counterpart are based on the Tengu, a creature that is part of Japanese Mythology.
• The costumes for the Tengu Warriors are reused for the Tenga Warriors in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Season 3).
