The TegaJune (テガジューン, Tegajūn) is the main transformation device and sidearm of Ring Hunter Garyudo.

Overview

The TegaJune is a right-handed gauntlet gun, equipped with a gun barrel which can be used for ranged combat and a dagger-like blade that can be used for close-ranged combat.

The TegaJune is used by Ring Hunter Garyudo to transform, which is done by placing the TegaJune Sentai Ring into the slot below the TegaJune's barrel. It can also be used with one of the Universe Warrior Sentai Rings to summon previous Sentai Reds that preceded the Gozyugers.

Transformation

To transform into Garyudo, Kuon first inserts the TegaJune Sentai Ring into the changer. Once inserted, Kuon performs the following actions:

1. Kuon points the barrel at a 45° angle upwards to his left, clapping the top of the barrel of the TegaJune once first, then twice afterwards.
2. Afterwards, Kuon swings the TegaJune to his right, pointing it upwards at a 90° angle before making a cocking motion on the TegaJune's barrel.
3. He then swings the TegaJune back to his left, performing a slash motion at a 45° angle towards the front.

After the various motions are performed, the transformation is initiated after Kuon presses the trigger at the TegaJune's handle. Following the slash motion, a red energy cross mark envelops Kuon and sends him into an inner space. Now wearing a black undersuit, red threads pivot around him, materializing most of Garyudo's armor pieces. Unlike the Gozyugers, who are covered in claw markings, Kuon instead receives a cross-shaped marking on his right eye; then, a set of thicker threads wraps around his head to form the helmet. The helmet materializes its gun's barrel, releasing three shots that shatter the space behind Kuon. Finally, a giant energy cross appears and attaches to his chest, while four red claw markings form the upper torso armor and cape, completing Kuon's transformation into Garyudo.

Unlike the Gozyugers who can perform Retransformations to change into previous Sentai Red Rangers, Garyudo possesses the ability to summon past Sentai Red Rangers to aid him in battle instead. To do so, Garyudo simply inserts a Universe Warrior Sentai Ring into the TegaJune before clapping the barrel of the TegaJune once, pressing the trigger afterwards.

Additionally, Garyudo can shoot the summoned Sentai Red Rangers using his TegaJune to convert them into weapons that he can wield or give it to another Red Ranger he summons.

Combination

To begin the combination sequence, TegaJune appears at a courthouse. The TegaJune Sentai Ring detaches as TegaJune releases all of its joints, unfolds its legs, and rearranges its arms and shoulder pads to face forward. During the combination, the "X" on the chest is blue. The gun's muzzle and wing fold down, and the middle joint folds as well. The bottom twists 180° counterclockwise before the feet open. Finally, the giant TegaJune Sentai Ring reattaches at the top to form the head, with the chest's "X" turning red to complete the combination.

Special Attacks

Same as how Garyudo shoots the Sentai Red Rangers he summons to convert them into weapons, Garyudo can also convert the Red Rangers he summoned into a special attack like the Universe Warriors did as they gained the ability of other Rangers through utilizing the Ring simply by shooting them.

By holding down the trigger of the TegaJune with TegaJune Sentai Ring inserted, it allows Garyudo to perform a finisher called June Blast (ジューンブラスト, Jūn Burasuto). Garyudo aims the TegaJune barrel at the enemy, while its muzzle is filled with purplish energy and four red triangular energy that gradually converge into a red cross mark. Finally, Garyudo shoots a stream of purple lasers at his enemy.

Queen TegaJune (クイーンテガジューン, Kuīn Tegajūn) is the combination of the TegaJune and the TegaJune Sentai Ring. She can serve as the main Giant Robo of Garyudo. In this form, TegaJune is skilled in firearm combat and is extremely agile. She can fire rapid shots from the TegaJune-based gun in her right hand, has the power to absorb both emotions and energy, and generate a red laser beam from the X-engraved gem on her chest. She can also revert into her TegaJune form to fire powerful purple energy shots and fly.

Design

Along with TegaSword and GoodeBurn, TegaJune forms a rock paper scissors motif, with TegaJune serving as the "scissors" within the trio. However, unlike the other two, TegaJune's design is specifically designed after a Japanese variant of the scissor hand, which is called the "Inaka choki" (田舎チョキ, "Inaka choki"), which resembles the gun hand that's used in more unconventional/memetic versions of rock paper scissors.

Etymology

• The name TegaJune is a combination of "a gun" (銃ね, jū ne) and "my hand" (手が, te ga), which when combined means "So your hand is a gun" (手が銃, Te ga jū ne).
  • The name also comes from the saying "June Bride" where if someone marries in June they will live a lifelong romantic and happy marriage.

Notes

• The TegaJune is a retool of the TegaSword, changing the gold and blue color scheme to white and red and replaces the TegaSword's blue blade with a gun barrel and a blade as well as straps on her left leg.
• Unlike the TegaSword, TegaJune announces the sounds in proper English instead of Japanese-English. The only exception to this is Queen TegaJune's transformation and the finishers performed with it and the TegaSword Rings.
• Queen TegaJune, in a break from Sentai mecha tradition, was not shown in the preview of her debut episode. This is a reference to the superstition that is is bad luck to see a bride before her wedding.
