Tank Top Shadow (タンクトップシャドー Tankutoppu Shadō) is a Shadow Monster that appeared in Ressha Sentai ToQger Returns: Super ToQ 7gou of Dreams.
History[]
Tank Top Shadow was the servant of Grand Duke Hei until he defected after witnessing his own light for the first time and joined the ToQgers, having frequently appeared as Akira Nijino's tank top, with the latter also a Shadow Line traitor. He first appeared when he teleported in and confronted the past ToQgers in a train yard at which point he then introduced himself and told them to return to the past where they belong and forget Akira. The children refused and prepared to change but a mysterious figure appeared and introduced himself as ToQ 7gou to Tank Top Shadow's surprise. He then leapt off the train car he was on top of and cut Tank Top Shadow's Hangar Swords in two before unleashing his Hell Punch, a massive barrage of punches which Tank Top Shadow shrugged off. Tank Top Shadow then drew more hangar swords as 7gou pulled out his ToQ Blaster in blaster mode and they battled but Tank Top Shadow was no match and was forced to retreat back to Hei who he apologised to for turning on him only to witness Hei corrupt Akira. Later that night, he was found by the younger version of Right Suzuki by a campfire in the woods whilst he was searching for Zaram before the future version of Right found them and realised that he was no longer evil. However, he revealed that he always been Akira's tank top and wished to return him to the Shadow Line only for Right to claim that he would never return which really angered Tank Top Shadow who rammed into him. The younger Right tried to convince him that he wasn't evil but he was too angry so the elder Right tried to morph but couldn't because he had lost his imagination as he got older so he was attacked again. Deciding to cut and run, both Rights fled and Tank Top Shadow went to pursue but stopped himself because he considered what the younger Right said and walked away.
The following morning, he accompanied Grand Duke Hei to confront all eleven of the ToQgers in the quarry and watched him resurrect General Schwarz, Baron Nero, Madame Noir, and Marchioness Morc. Once the adult ToQgers managed to morph, Hei sent him into battle and he fought Right but was easily defeated and then became heavily outnumbered when the other leaders were destroyed. Hei then got involved and overwhelmed four ToQgers easily, holding his own against Right until Tank Top Shadow stepped in and both easily overwhelmed him before Hei referred to the corrupted Zaram and teleported himself and Tank Top Shadow away. Later on, when the child ToQgers found the warehouse he was based out of, he confronted them with Hei and witnessed Akira's corruption into Zaram and the subsequent fight between the child ToQgers and Zaram. However, once Zaram regained his mind and started to question himself, but went on the attack when Right tried to attack Zaram. He then confronted Right for mistreating Akira only for Right to reveal that he considered him "a cool guy" but Tank Top Shadow just got angrier and tried to kill Right only for Zaram to take the hit instead much to his confusion. Akira turned back to normal and admired a rainbow but Hei was enraged and tried to bisect Akira only for Tank Top Shadow to take the hit for him. Driven mad by anger, Hei prompted to relentlessly slash the Shadow Monster and then impale him through the stomach with his Archduke Saber. Tank Top Shadow fell to his knees and explained to Akira that his actions were prompted to defend the nearby rainbow (in reference to something Akira said earlier) and nearly said his real name before turning to sparkles.
He was avenged an hour later when both ToQgers killed Grand Duke Hei with the Coupling Bazooka and the Daikaiten Cannon. Afterwards, Akira managed to revive Tank Top Shadow through undisclosed means which remained with him for the next ten years as Akira's tank top.
Personality[]
Tank Top Shadow was a very conflicted and troubled being torn between having Akira rejoin the Shadow Line and doing what's right. He was originally very loyal to Hei until he turned against him which sadly led to his death. At the end of the movie it is revealed that somehow Akira saved his life and he did, in fact not die.
