Fansub Example

A fansub (ファンサブ fan sabu) is a fan-made production of translated text subtitles synchronized with foreign audio-dialogue in a television episode or film. Fansubs exist due to the inaccessibility of home video releases of foreign properties in certain parts of the world, thus fans sometimes resort to obtaining it through other means due to the lack of legal alternatives.

This was mostly done in the 80s/90s with VCR equipment, as Japanese home video collections of shows were limited, expensive, and often inaccessible to foreign fans. However this issue has been rendered moot due to the internet today that has allowed fansubbing to be done entirely through online software and editing, as well as ease of obtainment of said material.

Many entries in the Super Sentai Series, such as episodes and films, have been subbed by various fansub groups so that anyone is able to enjoy them. This page will serve as a list of the fansub groups, and links to their sites.

Please keep in mind that it is against the policy of the Ranger Wiki, as well as Wikia, to link directly to torrents, downloads or uploading episode videos from streaming sites such as YouTube, unless it is an official source such as Crunchyroll, Toei's Youtube Page etc.

We only use fansubs out of necessity to obtain information from the content within the episodes and films, mostly for the purpose of educating people about the subject of Super Sentai and raws for screen capture images. Whenever possible, if an official English release does happen, we try to encourage fans to purchase it to support the creators of the content and future releases.

Official subs

Though a rare occurrence, certain productions in the Super Sentai Series have been officially subbed and are available on DVD in the west from Shout! Factory.
