Stego Search is the seventh episode of Power Rangers Dino Fury.[1] It features the debut of Stego Spike Zord and the Dino Fury Megazord Spike Formation.
Synopsis[]
The Warden takes away Javi's keytar, putting him in a bad mood, which he refuses to explain to the team. Javi is forced to open up about his problems in order to find his Zord.
Plot[]
At the Dinohenge Chamber, Solon reveals to the Rangers, minus a missing Javi, that her Zord Finder is complete and ready to find the missing Stego Spike Zord. Upon activating it, Solon can only detect the Zords they already have active, meaning that they must find it and wake it up. Meanwhile, Javi goes to the park to test out his newly bought keytar, and his performance attracts the patrons’ attention, along with Jane and J-Borg who record it for BuzzBlast. However, Warden Garcia puts an end to the performance as it is disrupting the bird’s nesting season before confiscating Javi’s keytar with the intent of returning it. Javi tries to argue against that, but Garcia stands by his word, even reminding his son that he can barely commit to one instrument a month.
An upset Javi returns to the chamber where the Rangers explain that while Solon’s Zord Finder managed to find the Stego Spike Zord, the signal suddenly stopped before they could find its exact location. However, Javi is not in the mood to talk, refusing to open to his friends about what happened at the park before teleporting away, Izzy following him to see what is bothering him.
At Area 62, Boomtower is frustrated that Void Knight has not held up his promise about giving him more power, and decides to take matters into his own hands. He opens the device containing the Sporix Cells they already collected and places it into his chest cannon, ignoring Mucus’ pleas of reluctance.
In the downtown area, Izzy finds Javi moping on a bench and tries to get him to tell her what is going on. Before Javi can tell her, Boomtower, Mucus, and a squad of Hengemen teleport down. As the citizens run away, Izzy and Javi morph and fight the Hengemen as the former calls Zayto. Izzy and Javi activate the powers of the Sprint and Shield Dino Keys and attack Boomtower, distracting him long enough for a morphed Zayto to attack from above with a Hyper Strike. Also, Amelia keeps Boomtower at bay with the Gravi Ball while Ollie slashes at him with the Elasto Lash. Despite that, Boomtower decides to show the Rangers his new powers thanks to the Sporix Cell and fires a devastating Boom Blast at them. Javi protects Izzy with his shield, but the others get caught in the blast and demorph. Izzy tries to attack Boomtower as he continues to use his Boom Blast on Javi, but the latter reacts at the last second and lands a powerful slash on her, causing Izzy to demorph. Javi goes to an injured Izzy and takes her out of the battlefield, just as Void Knight and more Hengemen teleport in. Void Knight has figured out that Boomtower stole one of the Sporix Cells from him and is furious with both the latter and Mucus, teleporting the two back to Area 62 and leaving the Hengemen to take on the Rangers. They manage to handle themselves against the Hengemen unmorphed while Javi takes Izzy down to the road where Warden Garcia is waiting. Javi explains that they got caught in an attack and only managed to escape thanks to the Power Rangers, but Garcia angrily accuses him of not doing enough to protect Izzy as she was more injured compared to him. This makes Javi even more upset, as he brushes off the Ranger’s concerns while he leaves with his family.
Back at Dinohenge, Solon continues to figure out why the Stego Spike Zord managed to activate, while the Rangers discuss Javi’s bad mood. Solon reveals that she found a viral video of Javi entertaining the park patrons with his keytar earlier that day, but it also included the part where Warden Garcia took it away from him. Now knowing the reason why Javi was upset, they tell the latter what they saw when he teleports in. Suddenly, Ollie realizes that the video was recorded around the same time the Zord activated, and Solon theorizes that it responded to Javi’s musical abilities. To test that theory out, Solon has Javi play his whistle, and it is proven to be true as the Zord responds to it. Solon manages to find it at Greenly Woods. Before the Rangers can go out to find it, the Ranger Hotline goes off with a report of Boomtower attacking the city. While Javi goes out to find his Zord, the three remaining Rangers go out to confront Boomtower.
The three Rangers teleport in morphed and on guard as Boomtower could be anywhere. However, Boomtower makes his appearance, already giant-sized, and fires at the Rangers. Zayto calls for the Zords as they form the Dino Fury Megazord, but because Boomtower still has the Sporix Cell under Void Knight’s permission, he tanks their attacks and overwhelms them with his cannon blasts. Meanwhile, Javi manages to find the Stego Spike Zord with his whistle and sends it to help the others, using its spikes to inflict damage onto Boomtower before he could fire another Boom Blast. Javi combines the Stego Spike Zord with the Dino Fury Megazord, forming the Dino Fury Megazord Spike Formation, and joins the team in the cockpit. The configuration proves to be strong enough to tank Boomtower’s claymore before it grapples him and tosses him around. Just when Boomtower charges up for another Boom Blast, the Rangers fire the Megazord's spikes at him before defeating him with the Stego Mega Punches. Boomtower shrinks back to human size badly damaged and teleports away with Mucus, while Javi teleports back home to check on Izzy.
Javi and Izzy, having her injured arm in a sling, meet up with the Rangers back at BuzzBlast, who gift him with a new keytar to replace the one Warden Garcia took away. Javi is grateful for the gift and apologizes for not telling them his problems, promising to be more open with them in the future. Javi jams to his keytar which causes everyone in BuzzBlast to dance. Jane and J-Borg join in the dance, only for the latter to spin too fast and burrows down to the ground, hitting a water main and causing water to spray all over the office.

Errors[]
- When Boomtower blasts the Rangers, Javi is beside Izzy despite being in front of her moments earlier, but after the others are blasted away he's in front of her again.
- When leaving to check on Izzy near the end of the episode, Javi begins to teleport a moment before he actually touches his Morpher to initiate it.
Notes[]
- Total Sporix Beasts Collected:
- Void Knight: 1
- Boomtower: 1
- Dino Fury Rangers: 3
- Void Knight: 1
- This is the first episode to not feature an appearance from any new Sporix Beasts aside from Mucus, oddly Wolfgang's counterpart had debuted in this episode they had used for Boomtower's footage of fighting the Rangers and the Megazord, but due to this monster not growing or due to not being enough time, they had omitted the monster from the episode. Though in "Unexpected Guest", Wolfgang would appear though this was the brother of the Cerberus Minosaur in the Sentai while in Dino Fury, he was treated as a singular monster.
- Izzy's full name is finally revealed in-show to be "Isabella."
- As of this episode, all of the core five Rangers have re-awakened their Zords with Javi summoning his Stego Spike Zord. Interestingly enough in the Sentai, the Tiger Claw and Stego Spike Zord's counterparts debuted in the same episode though they would be used to combine with the Megazord one consecutive episode at a time. But in Dino Fury, they had taken an episode off after Izzy found her Zord to have Amelia use her Zord for a new formation while Javi finds his Zord this episode.
