Space Shogunate Jark Matter (宇宙幕府ジャークマター Uchu Bakufu Jāku Matā) was the evil intergalactic government which has dominated the 88 constellation systems and controlling all of space, usurping the Space Federation. They were collecting Planetium (The Power of the Planets) to destroy the entire universe until nothing remains behind.

Character History[]

Origin[]

The self-proclaimed embodiment of misfortune, Don Armage, came into being as a result of pain and suffering across all of space, and was amassed as universal despair. Immensely powerful and intent on dominating the entire universe, Don Armage established himself as Shogun of Jark Matter. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.Final: Echo in the Universe! Alright, Lucky

In their first invasion, 300 years ago, he is opposed by eighty-eight warriors from the eighty-eight star systems aboard the Argo. However, despite managing to kill the other eighty-six, two survivors were left; Tsurugi Ohtori and his friend, Quervo. Tsurugi converted his immortality into raw power, but still failed to defeat Don Armage. When Tsurugi was about to do an attack that costed his life, his comrade, Quervo, stopped him before Don Armage killed him by taking a blow meant for Tsurugi. However, it's shown that later, Tsurugi managed to defeat Don Armage and goes into suspended animation. But, unknown to him, Don Armage is somehow alive and memories about Tsurugi back on Earth was erased.

Conquests[]

Ruled by Don Armage, Jark Matter became the dominant power in their region of space through seizing the 88 constellation systems over the course of several years. Seeking the essential power source that formed each and very world, Planetium, Jark Matter installed battleships called Moraimars, each overseen by a Daikaan, on every planet they conquered to drain their supply, with the process ultimately resulting in the destruction of these worlds. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.3: The Man from the Desert Star Meanwhile, a Karo, who ruled an entire constellation system, had a bigger, green, and more enhanced version of a Moraimars called a Big Moraimars.

Don Armage established Jark Matter's new capital as the planet Southern Cross in the Minami Juuji System, whose ruler, Southern King, of Minami willingly submitted to the Shogun at the expense of his now former subjects; his philosophy was that the weak were destined to serve the strong, who dominated the universe. In return, Don Armage granted Southern King the title of Karo, serving as guardian of the Minami Juuji System. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.41: Rushing! Planet Southern Cross

In the Chameleon System, the vanguard of Indavers was spotted by a young Hammy, who, though having been hesitant to speak up until then, mustered the courage to warn her teacher. After having acquired the Sasori System, Don Armage personally addressed Scorpio, a Scorpionman warrior who had grown to seek power to the point of selling out his own tribe to Jark Matter, leaving them to be slaughtered while turning his back on even his little brother, Stinger. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.5: 9 Ultimate Saviors Enticing Scorpio to serve Jark Matter in exchange for the power he sought, Don Armage transformed him into a scorpion monster; initially enlisting Scorpio as an assassin, the Shogun would be pleased enough by his service, which included the elimination of the Oushi System dissident Dr. Anton, that he eventually promoted him to Karo of the subjugated Sasori System. Rebellion[]

On the flat world of Crotus, Jark Matter's subjugation was overseen by the Karo Eriedrone. His forces, however, were unable to prevent the initial three Kyurangers from allowing numerous civilians to escape Jark Matter's grip. This was realized by the Don Armage, who blasted Eriedrone back when the Karo contacted him to announce the joyous news of the conquest. Ordered by Don Armage to eliminate the insurgents, Eriedrone had his Big Moraimars go to hunt the Kyurangers down on Jagjag. Ultimately, however, Eriedrone only succeeded in providing the trial by fire which caused a further two Kyurangers to emerge, making a combination of five Voyagers to form KyurenOh which destroyed the Tsuyoindaver that Eriedrone sent against them on Jagjag's moon. Gamettsui, Daikaan of Zigama, was given a tip-off from one of his Indaver subordiantes about Lucky's presence on the planet. There, he met Balance and Naga Ray, who make up the BN Team; stealing what's yours to make it theirs. Or at least that was their introductory motto before the Kyutamas from the Tenbin System and Hebitsukai System chose them to become Tenbin Gold and Hebitsukai Silver respectively. Before that could happen, however, Lucky and the BN Team infiltrated Gamettsui's base and he made the dumb decision of setting off the alarmand opening some hatches to get into a fight with a large crowd of Indavers. The first wave was done when Gamettsui showed Lucky, Balance, and Naga his Enlarge Inro as a sign of authority before introducing himself as the Daikaan of the planet. After Gamettsui's defeat, Balance and Naga became permanent new additions to the team. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.2: Let's Go! Phantom Thief BN Team!

Under the supervision of Daikaan Moretsyuoindaver, Planet Needle was in deep trouble; it's Planetium supply was running dangerously low, and it was on the brink of destruction, courtesy the Daikaan's signature battleship, the Moraimars. The Moraimars' drill-thruster component sucks out the Planetium of every world. Problem is, when the Planetium runs out, the planet that was drained explodes into space dust. The Kyurangers arrived on the scene when a vanguard of Indavers arrived to try and get in the way. They were defeated when a mysteriously cloaked member of a tribe of Scorpionmen appeared before the team. He stung Balance and revealed himself as Stinger of the Sasori System. Champ got very angry, claiming that Stinger is the one who caused his maker, Dr. Anton's death. To everyone's shock, Stinger he revealed he had one of the 9 core Kyutamas and transformed into Sasori Orange. While everyone else remained at the base, Lucky and Champ went after Stinger. It was then that Moretsuyoindaver and some Indavers and Tsyuoindavers appeared. The Daikaan was defeated and the team set off to destroy the Moraimars in Kyutama Gattai 01*03*06*07*09 KyurenOh, only for the Moraimars to transform into a Moraimars Robo, piloted by a lone Indaver in the Daikaan's absence. While that was going on, Champ tried to keep Stinger busy. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.3: The Man from the Desert Star

Shou Ronpo assigns the Kyurangers to Earth. He and Raptor 283 point out that there are numerous Daikaans and Moraimars on the planet. The team finds this to be very unusual, as normally, there would be one Daikaan/Moraimars per planet. Some of the Kyurangers think that's because Earth has a lot more Planetium than most worlds. Upon their arrival to Earth, the team notices that the humans all look so out of it. They later find out that this is the doing of one of Earth's many Daikaans, Yumepakkun. He rubs the heads of his victims, telling them to reveal their dreams, which he would later consume with his long snout with a mouth of its own. Raptor 283 later confesses that she wants to fight alongside the Kyurangers. In subsequence, she was selected to become the next Kyuranger: Washi Pink. Yumepakkun anticipated his plan's failure, and had a backup plan in the form of his Moraimars Robo; he managed to escape at the last second before it was destroyed by Kyutama Gattai 01*03*05*08*09 KyurenOh. Tvicon TV STORY-Space.4: Dreamy Android

The truth eventually came out that Stinger was a spy Shou Ronpo sent in to infiltrate Jark Matter. This became apparent as the former backstabbed Eriedrone and gave the team their Kyutamas back. Yumepakkun is finally defeated by Kyutama Gattai 01*03*05*08*09 KyurenOh, and Eriedrone by Kyutama Gattai 01*02*03*05*07 KyurenOh. With all 9 Kyurangers assembled, as the legend predicted, Lucky decides to start the real battle against Jark Matter on Earth; he saw that everyone there had some backbone after seeing the Kyurangers beat Eriedrone and Yumepakkun. Jark Matter Assassins: Ikargen and Madakko[]

One day, the Kyurangers go after Daikaan Denvil, who tortues the citizens with coordinated group dancing, of all things, and try to decide on a leader. Meanwhile, Stinger is interrogated by Ikargen and Madakko about having any possible knowledge about the Kyurangers. After Denvils defeat, Madakko remarked the Kyurangers as jelly-brains. Balance was having a hard time trying to contain himself as his birthday had arrived. Little did he know, his birthday would be used as bait for Daikaan Toome, who could literally take away some kid's birthday with his Birthday Beam. This would be interrupted as Ikargen and Madakko accidentally met up with the Kyurangers. Shou Ronpo advised the Kyurangers to stand by. With Jark Matter dissolved, the Space Federation was restored with Tsurugi Ohtori reinstalled as President. The former Rebellion was repurposed to preserve peace across the universe and restoring the liberated constellation systems. Among the dispersed Kyurangers, the BN Team of Balance and Naga Ray took to recovering the treasures which had been pillaged by Jark Matter across the universe. Notes[]

  • This is so far the only Super Sentai faction where the villains have already conquered the Earth with the Kyurangers having to undo their takeover instead of preventing a takeover.
  • The name of Jark Matter is a pun on "Dark Matter" and the Japanese word for "evil" (邪悪 Jaaku), pronounced similarly but with a different emphasis.
  • The voice actors of the three Vice-Shoguns are actors that previously portrayed a main Super Sentai member.
