Main article: Space Crime Syndicate Makuu
The Space Crime Syndicate Makuu were a group of space criminals fought by Space Sheriff Gavan, Retsu Ichijouji. They created a dimension called Makuu Space, oozing with malicious energy, but were defeated by Gavan, resulting in Makuu Space collapsing siginficantly. However, Ashurada, a descendant of the former Makuu boss, Don Horror, conspired with Zangyack to use Gavan to catalyze the blood of Don Horror in his veins, which would make Makuu Space expand and consume the Earth. This plot was foiled by Gavan and the Gokaigers, who destroyed Asurada.

That would not be the only time a Super Sentai team encountered the Makuu and joined forces with a Space Sheriff to fight this common enemy. The Go-Busters fought against Rhino Doubler of the Makuu, who chased Shelly to Earth. Shelly being the assistant to the new Space Sheriff Gavan, Geki Jumonji.
