Synopsis[]
Lucky's homeworld's King Aslan was revealed to be a fake! The Kyurangers uncovered this, and Lucky has become its new king, and the bonds of the Kyurangers have never been stronger! The Kyuranger's aim is to gather enough Kyu Energy to smash through the barrier protecting Jark Matter's homeworld, Planet Southern Cross. The team is divided into 2 once again, and go on a search for the Perseus and Cepheus Kyu Energies. However, there is one member who is starting to feel left out. That is their Commander Shou Ronpo. Since Tsurugi's exceptional leadership, Shou feels that his role as their Commander is wearing thin. Meanwhile, the Cepheus team must overcome 9 different challenges prepared to specifically challenge each Kyuranger! Although he also feels an obligation to continue fighting, Shou starts to feel that his purpose in the team is wearing thin...
Plot[]
Having liberated the Leo System, coronated Lucky, and resumed the journey to confront Don Armage in the Southern Cross, the Kyurangers review the plan for getting past the barrier—collect Kyu energy into blank Kyutamas from the three constellations based off of the three sages that broke through 300 years ago (the fourth, Andromeda, already in the Kyuranger's possession). They decide to split up to get the first two. Before Shou can spin the Kyulette to select the teams, Tsurugi gives everyone assignments. Balance will remain on the Battle Ship Orion; Lucky, Stinger, Champ, Spada, and Kotaro will go to Perseus; and Tsurugi will take the rest to Cepheus. Meanwhile, Lucky switches from his white coronation coat to his standard Kyuranger jacket to symbolize that he's deploying as a Kyuranger. As everyone prepares to deploy, Shou reflects on how lately he's been blowing out air more than anything else.
Tsurugi's team arrives at Cepheus's Kyuulin Nine-Chamber Temple. Tsurugi explains that 300 years ago, he and Quervo had to pass nine trials to convince a warrior form that system to join the fight. Similarly, the Karo of the system, Desgon, appears and reveals that the Kyurangers have to pass the nine new trials to obtain the planet's Kyu Energy. The first of these is the "Indaver Hell Chamber," where the six of them have to defeat a total of 99 Indavers in one minute. Shou compliments how well the others are doing, with the end score being 38 Tsurugi, 17 Hammie, 16 Garu, 13 Naga, 10 Raptor, and 5 Shou. Although the others scold Shou for a second, Tsurugi is unbothered by it, saying that in a similar trial 300 years ago, Quervo only beat five of the Kyuulin warriors while he handled the rest.
The next three chambers are past a fork in the road, so Shou decides as commander to assign himself and Naga to one team, Tsurugi and Raptor in another, and Garu and Hammie as the third. Tsurugi and Raptor face Chamber 2 - Muscle Training by doing 9,999 sit-ups, which Tsurugi does by himself. Chamber 3 - Kitchen, requires Garu and Hammie to impress two Indabee with their cooking. They call Spada, whose group has not reached the Perseus System yet, and have him walk them through a recipe for sushi, which passes the test.
