Soul Searching is the eighth episode of Power Rangers Wild Force. It continues the storyline introduced in the previous episode, dealing the sudden illness of the Red Lion Wildzord after combining with the Polar and Black Bear Wildzords. The episode introduces the Gorilla Wildzord and Kongazord and also reveals a connection between Master Org and Cole Evans' pasts.

Synopsis[]

Cole searches for the Soul Bird to heal the Red Lion. However, he is stopped by Master Org. When Master Org finds Cole's family picture, he remembers a past encounter with Cole's parents. Although the Soul Bird escapes, the Rangers find the egg laid by the mythical creature.

Plot[]

Cole checks on the Red Lion Zord after getting ill from the Wild Force Megazord Double Knuckle configuration during their fight against Cell Phone Org. The Lion Zord is still not feeling well, but Cole promises his Zord he will find a way to help him, just as the Bear Zords express their concern as well. Princess Shayla explains that the Bear Zord’s power was too much for the Lion Zord to handle, but there is one hope they have in restoring him to full health. In ancient times, a rare mythical bird called the Soul Bird lived in a forest and had the power to heal the Wild Zords. Hearing this, Cole asks where they could find the Soul Bird. Shayla explains that the Soul Bird stayed behind when the Animarium left the forest, but she also adds that finding one is difficult as only a few were able to see them. Despite hearing that, Cole is determined to find the Soul Bird and have it heal the Lion Zord.

The Rangers go down to the forest to look for the Soul Bird, but Master Org senses what they are doing and dispatches Jindrax and Toxica to destroy it before the Rangers can find it. During their search, Jindrax and Toxica run into Bulldozer Org, a lost Org with immense strength as he manages to use his plow to lift a fallen tree with little ease. Realizing that he could be some use, Jindrax tells Bulldozer Org about the Soul Bird and the latter agrees to help them find it in the name of Master Org.

Later, the Rangers run into Jindrax and Toxica who refuse to let them find the Soul Bird. The Rangers morph with the intent of fighting the duo, but they reveal that their opponent will instead be Bulldozer Org, who is already giant-sized. Even though they have no access to the Megazord with the Red Lion Zord ill, the Rangers are still willing to fight against the giant-sized Bulldozer Org by themselves. Cole is against the idea, but when Bulldozer Org knocks them down, he agrees with them. Just before they can attack, the Red Lion Zord speaks to Cole through his Crystal Saber, telling him that he will fight regardless of health. With that, the Rangers summon their Wild Zords and form the Wild Force Megazord. Unfortunately, none of their strikes scratch Bulldozer Org as he tanks their attacks before pushing them back. Seeing the strength this Org has, Taylor suggests that they take the risk and summon the Bear Zords for Double Knuckle Mode. Cole is hesitant as it is too risky for the Red Lion Zord, but the latter roars from the Megazord, telling Cole that he is willing to take the risk. With this blessing, Taylor hands Max and Alyssa the Polar Bear and Black Bear Crystals and they summon the Bear Zords. The Zords manage to push Bulldozer Org back, and the Rangers reconfigure to the Wild Force Megazord Double Knuckle. The strength of the configuration pushes Bulldozer Org back and they proceed to finish him quickly with a Bear Blaster. Just before they can, the Megazord’s power fluctuates as the Red Lion Zord, already weaken, cannot handle the stress of the Bear Zord’s power. Taking advantage of this, Bulldozer Org fires at the Wild Force Megazord, disassembling the configuration and knocking the Rangers out of the cockpit.

The Red Lion Zord tries to fight back, but in its weakened state, Bulldozer Org knocks him away, much to Cole’s horror. Just before Bulldozer Org can finish the Red Lion Zord off, the other Wild Zords come to the defence of their fallen ally and attack him. However, Jindrax and Toxica taunt the Rangers, telling them that they will never find the Soul Bird, but Cole leaves as the rest of the Rangers fight against the duo to prevent them from following him. In response, Toxica summons the Putrids, while Cole demorphs as he looks for the Soul Bird. Suddenly, Cole senses someone and sees that it is Master Org. A livid Cole denounces Master Org’s destruction as pathetic and calls him a coward, but the latter fires back with his staff, claiming he has no fear. As he uses his energy to shock Cole, Master Org cackles at the Red Ranger’s plight. When Cole drops, the photo of him and his parents fall out, and Master Org sees it.

The sight of the photo causes memories to flood back to Master Org as they are seen from his perspective. In it, Master Org is chasing after two explorers with a baby inside the mother’s arms. They try to barricade themselves inside the tent as the mother tries calming the baby down, only for Master Org to break his way through. As he looms over the parents, the father realizes that he took the seeds, only for Master Org to capture the father in vines. The mother runs off, but Master Org catches her and grabs what he thought was the baby, only to see an empty blanket. The mother refuses to tell Master Org where the baby went off to, and he attacks her with his vines, cackling as he does so.

When Cole comes to, he sees Master Org holding the photo and demands the latter hand it over, grabbing it from his hands. As Master Org starts to realize that Cole was that baby who escaped his grasps, the Soul Bird arrives back to its nest. However, Master Org fires at the nest, causing the Soul Bird to fly away in fear. Master Org believes he has won as nobody can find a Soul Bird twice, but then, a mysterious entity roars, causing the ground to shake. Master Org takes his leave, promising to Cole that this is not over, while Cole collapses in defeat as he failed to befriend the Soul Bird. Suddenly, a giant figure casts a shadow over Cole, and he receives a green Animal Crystal with a gorilla statue inside it.

Meanwhile, the Bear Zords fire against Bulldozer Org as Cole returns with some help. He summons his new Gorilla Wild Zord, and the strength of the new Zord overpowers Bulldozer Org, along with his exploding bananas. Cole asks the Gorilla Zord for his strength as he lets the Red Lion Zord rest for now, and all five Rangers combine the Gorilla Zord with the Bear Zords, Eagle Zord, and Bison Zord, forming their new Kongazord. The strength of the Kongazord overpowers Bulldozer Org and they destroy him with the Double Knuckle Final Strike.

After the battle, Cole takes the Rangers back to the location where he found the Soul Bird but is still disappointed that Master Org drove it away. While looking at the wreckage, Cole notices something from the downed nest and finds an egg that the Soul Bird laid. They plan to take it back to the Animarium as Cole sadly realizes that the unborn chick, like himself, will never know who its mother was.
