Personality[]
Though an easily-angered individual, Sledge has proven to be intelligent enough to come up with complex plans and lead his own crew. He is even able to keep his cool under stressful situations and enact long term plans. One such long term plan is gathering the Energems. Though Sledge was hired by Arcanon, Sledge intended to betray Arcanon when the time is right, so he can secure rule over the universe. If anything, the fact that he's easily-angered is one of his greatest flaws to the point it could impede his ability to cooperate with allies and enemies alike. Typically, it wouldn't seem this way, but he values the opinions of his generals. As a means to cope with his anger, he threatens punishment to his generals for the sake of amusement, although he won't hesitate to use true discipline if deemed necessary. As his appearances progressed, Sledge has exhibited humor, though most of the time, it was unintentional.
While Fury and Wrench are the most trusted generals, there is only one being he is truly in love with, and that is Poisandra. Though not shown often, he is shown to rely on Curio as well. There are times in which Sledge suffers from a crisis, something that could lead to tension between the couple: choosing between love and power. Love represents Poisandra while power represents the Energems. In the end, he'd compromise with himself so that having both is possible. Though Poisandra harbors a similar level of fascination over fancy artifacts, it is clear that Poisandra loves Sledge more than the artifacts; this is shown when Poisandra grew bored of the Energem hunt and wanted to spend a life with Sledge. As reported by Poisandra and through Sledge's actions, Sledge would in multiple occasions come up with baseless excuses whenever confronted by Poisandra. Sometimes, these excuses have truth and other times, it's flat out lies. Although in love with Poisandra, Sledge was very reluctant to marry Poisandra. In fact, he only stopped delaying their marriage out of desperation to keep Poisandra by his side. It was proven that Sledge truly cared for Poisandra when she was destroyed during the Beast Morphers and Dino Charge team up during her brief resurrection.
Though Sledge is usually depicted as fearless, Sledge has been shown to fear powerful beings. These powerful beings include Arcanon, Evox, and a revived Goldar. In the case with Arcanon, Sledge feared him mainly because he was a very skilled sorcerer with the Dark Energem in his possession, which forced Sledge to use subtlety and deception to topple Arcanon. As for Evox, the fear appears to be more implied. This is shown when Sledge collaborated with Snide in a plan to destroy the Power Rangers. In this instant, Sledge and Snide were technically enemies at this point and were only united due to fearing Evox. His fear of Goldar was more obvious given that Goldar had more than enough power to obliterate Sledge for good. In his dying moments, Sledge pretty much begged for mercy.
Sledge has come off as a hypocrite when it came to integrity. This is shown when Sledge attempted deception on Arcanon, Odius, and Snide on three different occasions. In all three instances, Sledge intended to backstab them so he can further assert his power in the universe. However, when reviewing data about Lord Zedd, Sledge displayed disgust over how Lord Zedd was quick to trick the Machine Empire into receiving a bomb in the disguise of a present. That being said, Sledge has shown a dislike of being tricked by a bomb, which was a running gag for him. Additionally, the fact he criticized Lord Zedd could stem from being fine with backstabbing others, just that he didn't want it done to him. He is also shown to be willing to trust Heckyl to lead his crew and be in friendly terms with Snide, who became his partner, and initially a stable relationship with his employer, but eventually growing to be completely inimical to Lord Arcanon. As such, Sledge is one of the most goofy, yet also complex villains in the series.
Powers and Abilities[]
Sledge is equal in power to Snide, Heckyl (surpassed post separation) and Lord Arcanon. However, Sledge bore fear for Lord Arcanon mainly due to his possession of the Dark Energem. This fear went away when Sledge finally had the Dark Energem to finally obliterate Arcanon, and gain full authority over his empire, thus making him one of the strongest and most powerful villains in Power Rangers Dino Charge and Power Rangers Dino Super Charge.
Upon his appearance in subsequent series such as Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel and Power Rangers Beast Morphers, Sledge's power is still formidable enough to take on the Ninja Steel Power Rangers and Grid Battleforce Rangers respectively. However, in those instances, Sledge wasn't really one of the most powerful villainous forces. In the case of Power Rangers Ninja Steel and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, his strength was rivaled and/or exceeded by Galvanax and Odius. As for Power Rangers Beast Morphers, his strength was surpassed by Evox and a revived Goldar, though Sledge was able to beat his former rival Tyler Navarro even when the latter already had years of experience as a Power Ranger and also was with his T-Rex Super Charge Mode.
Powers[]
- Teleportation: Sledge can teleport to any location at will. TV STORY-Finders Keepers
- Extraordinary Strength: Sledge is most likely the strongest of all villains in the series, being able to fix his ship with his bare hands as well as demorph Tyler and Chase with a single strike. During his first appearance, a single light punch (when compared to his usual blows) was enough to make Wrench stumble away.
- Enhanced Lifespan: Similar to all aliens, Sledge has a far longer lifespan than mortal beings, which allows him to live for millions of years, though it is possible the conditions of outer space may slow down his aging process.
- Vivix Summoning: Sledge can summon an army of Vivix to assist him in battle. TV STORY-End of Extinction
Abilities[]
- Combat Skills: Sledge has also shown some impressive skills when it comes to hand-to-hand combat as he could defeat four Rangers and Keeper with ease.
- Singing Voice: It is revealed during the first part of the three-part series finale of Power Rangers Dino Charge and Power Rangers Super Dino Charge, The Rangers Rock!, Sledge is a decent singer, as he spent some time in Japan on stage.
Weaknesses[]
- Aging: Unlike his shipmates and prisoners, while capable of living longer, his body is subjected to aging, as evidenced when his fighting skills diminished in battle, though he could still overwhelm the Rangers in battle regardless.
- Malfunctioning Armor: Sledge's armor is ancient and brittle and at times, would malfunction, which could hinder any opportunity of movement, such as when it is needed to escape from enemy fire.
- Behavioral Issues: Sledge can be impulsive and impatient, leading him to be uncooperative with plans laid down by his minions, which can result in the failure of a mission and eventually bring about his downfall and undoing.
Arsenal[]
- Handgun: Sledge has a powerful handgun capable of firing green energy lasers that are strong enough to take down any opponent in one shot.
- Energem Compatibility: Sledge's handgun can also be powered by Energems, causing its lasers to change color depending on what color that Energem is.
- Energy Stream: When powered by the purple Energem, Sledge's handgun can fire a stream of purple energy that was strong enough to counter Heckyl's lightning beam.
- Immobilization Ray: Also when powered by the purple Energem, Sledge's handgun can unleash a purple energy ray that immobilized the Rangers.
- Energem Compatibility: Sledge's handgun can also be powered by Energems, causing its lasers to change color depending on what color that Energem is.
- Armor: Sledge is mostly covered in armor, which protects his body from attacks and allows him to fly with great speed using a potent jetpack with twin thrusters positioned on the backside.
- Jetpack: Sledge has a jetpack on his shoulder pads that lets him fly in high speeds. He commonly uses it as a means of escaping the battlefield instead of teleporting.
