Slate is a copycat criminal capable of shapeshifting into any other being provided he has their DNA, which he acquires from Broodwing. He also piloted his own giant robot which was ultimately destroyed by the Delta Squad Megazord.
He serves as the secondary antagonist of the two-part episode Reflection.
History[]
Slate was sent to Earth by Gruumm. Slate possessed the ability to mimic any monster forms with DNA aquired from Broodwing.
Slate attacked Newtech City and attacked the Rangers while they were playing. Slate mimics Rhinix, Bugglesworth, Hydrax, Tomars, Sinuku, and Devastation. The Rangers were astonished to see the monsters that were already captured. Slate showed them his forms of Rhinix, Hydrax and Bugglesworth. The Rangers were shocked and wondered how the monsters managed to escape from their Data Cards and then Slate leaves. Sky was sent by Cruger to the Gamma Orion planet to interrogate Mirloc about it.
Sky arrived to the prison on Gamma Orion and asked Mirloc, about this monster. Mirloc told Sky that it was Slate, who mimicked the monsters with his abilities to copy the alien DNA, which was likely provided to him by Broodwing.
The Rangers then realized that it was Slate, thanks to Sky who found it with Mirloc. Slate met Broodwing and Broodwing gave him the DNA of new aliens to transform.
Slate then returned to the city and successfully fought the Rangers with his alien forms. Slate turned into Sinuku and when the Rangers found him, Slate teased them by turning into the aliens they already defeated. Slate turned into Devastation and successfully defeated the Rangers. Slate attacked them with an explosive circle, but the Rangers freed themselves from it and attacked Slate with a table fire from the S.P.D. Blasters, forcing him to reveal his real form.
He then jumped into his giant robot and fought the Delta Squad Megazord. The Rangers damaged his robot and he is found guilty of identity theft along with other crimes thanks to the Judgment Scanner. The robot was destroyed while Slate escapes but is confronted and about to be contained by the Rangers.
However, Morgana interfered and gives Slate a gift from Gruumm: the ability of being several monsters at the same time. With the help of Morgana, the monster squad takes down the Rangers. That is until the Red Ranger calls upon the S.P.D. Battlizer and contains Slate by destroying all of his clones. TV STORY-Reflection
