The Skullgators were giant Gashadokuro-themed alligator combatants that served Galaxy Warriors in Power Rangers Ninja Steel and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel.
History[]
After Spinferno falls in battle against the Ninja Steel Rangers, Cosmo Royale questions to the spectators in the Warrior Dome if he should be given another chance. Unfortunately, the audience vote no so Cosmo hits the red button on the Gigantify Machine which sends down the first Skullgator to fight the Rangers. The Rangers try to defeat it with their individual Ninja Steel Zords, with little to no success. When the Rangers finally combine their Zords to form the Ninja Steel Megazord, they were able to defeat and destroy the Skullgator with the Ninja Steel Megazord's Master Slash Final Attack. After Ripcon fails and flees from the battle after Levi Weston joins the Power Rangers as the Gold Ranger, a Skullgator is sent so the Rangers form the Ninja Steel Megazord. Unlike its predecessor, this Skullgator proves more than a match for the Megazord, shaking it up pretty badly just by blocking a swing. Luckily, Sarah has just finished the new Ninja Clone Star which duplicates the Megazord five times over and they quickly overpower him with a massive strike from all four. Although a single slash from the Skullgator destroys them in puffs of smoke, it is crippled by the Robo Red Solo Strike and destroyed by the Master Slash. TV STORY-Gold Rush
Two Skullgators are sent to earth when Ripcon is gigantified. When they are overpowered by the Bull Rider Megazord's Rodeo Rapid Blast Final Attack, they fuse into a large skeleton sword that Ripcon uses to knock down both Megazords. They are separated by an energy slash delivered by the brand new Ninja Fusion Zord and the two Skullgators are both obliterated by the Ninja Fusion Zord Master Slash Final Attack, which also kills Ripcon. Another pair of Skullgators are deployed to assist Drillion when he is gigantified. They are both easily destroyed by the Ninja Fusion Zord though the battle ends when Drillion retreats, having dismantled the formation before being driven away by the Lion Fire Zord. TV STORY-The Royal Rival
In Cosmo’s board game that traps the Rangers, a Skullgator is deployed as part of the Misfortune Card earned by Calvin losing to Spinferno. In addition, the Rangers fight the Robo Rider Zord that has been turned evil by another Misfortune Card. The first Skullgator is destroyed by the Astro Ninja Steel Megazord's Cosmic Blast but another joins the battle. When Levi joins the battle (having just discovered the trap after sitting out the game), he regains control of his Zord before kicking back the Skullgator and forming the Bull Rider Megazord. The Skullgator is no match for the formation and is quickly destroyed by the Bull Rider Megazord's Rodeo Rapid Fire Final Attack. TV STORY-Grave Robber
Around a year later, Badonna sends four Skullgators to help Brax against the Rangers. Brax survives by retreating to the Warrior Dome but the Skullgators are paralyzed by the Ninja Blaze Megazord's Serpent Punch. Once Brody powers up the Ninja Super Steel Blaster, they destroy one with the Master Slash before turning into the Rumble Tusk Ninja Steel Megazord behind the explosion and crippling a second with the Double Axe Final Attack. They fly into the air as the Astro Ninja Steel Megazord and annihilate the crippled Skullgator with the Cosmic Blast before finishing off the remaining two with the Sub Surfer Ninja Steel Megazord's Riptide Slash Final Attack. To destroy the Rangers once and for all, Tynamon uses Odius's hammer with the Ninja Fusion Star and Levi's voice to fuse 6 Skullgators unleashed by Cosmo to create Megamauler. TV STORY-Happy to Be Me
Any remaining Skullgators are presumably destroyed by Victor and Monty's bombs and thus the threat posed by them is over for good. TV STORY-Reaching the Nexus
But the Warrior Dome is found by Sledge, Poisandra and Wrench and is repaired. Wrench finds Cosmo's Gigantify Machine, Sledge gigantifies Snow Fright but not send Skullgators to help her. The threat posed by the Skullgators is over for good when Koda destroys the Warrior Dome, killing everyone on board and destroying the Gigantify Machine. TV STORY-The Poisy Show
Personality[]
The Skullgators were completely feral and mindless beasts who spoke only in angry roars and snarls. They did however have the capacity to work together and with other villains in battle.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Optic Beams: The Skullgators could fire dark blue-purple colored energy beams from their eyes.
- Skullgator Sword Transformation: The two Skullgators assisting Ripcon were able to combine into a massive Zanbato-like sword for him to use in battle.
Abilities[]
- Weapon Combat: Many of the Skullgators were able to fight and overwhelm the various Megazords in battle with their pickaxes.
- Strength: The Skullgators were able to take down the Robo Red Zord and it was then able to easily pin it down. When fighting the Megazord in the episode "Gold Rush", a single slash from its pickaxe knocked back the Megazord and severely shook up the cockpit and by spinning around in a circle whilst holding said pickaxe, it destroyed all four of the Ninja Steel Megazord clones.
- Durability: The first Skullgator was able to resist the Dragon Zord's Fire Breath and multiple kicks and punches from the Robo Red Zord had no effect. The most impressive display of durability however was in the episode "Family Fusion" when they survived the Bull Rider Megazord's Rodeo Rapid Fire.
Weaknesses[]
to be added
Arsenal[]
- Pickaxe: The Skullgators wielded massive pickaxes in battle.
Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- The Skullgators did not have voice actors since their voices consisted exclusively of snarls and roars.
Design[]
- Via their counterparts, Skullgators were based upon the Gashadokuro from Japanese mythology. They are giant Yokai created from the skeletons of those who starved to death gathering to form into a skeletal specter. They sneak up on people and devour them after becoming large. The only way a human can protect themselves from one, before it is too late, is to hear a distinct ringing noise in their ear. Supposedly, this is the sound the Gashadokuro makes when sneaking up on humans.
Etymology[]
- Skullgators is an portmanteau that come from the words "Skull" and "Alligators".
Notes[]
- Unlike their counterparts, which were formed by corrupted Power Stars, the Skullgators were a legitimate species of giant monsters which were akin to the Greenzillas.
