Silverback was Goldar's gorilla-like brother who first appeared in the story "Only the Strong" from the 2016 Annual Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic by Boom! Studios.

Character History

Silverback was Goldar's older brother who had earned many victories in the name of Lord Zedd with his race giving him a new armored piece for each victory. After one particular victory over a resistance planet, Zedd's emissary arrives and told Silverback and Goldar that he wished to see them. However, it was at this point that the brothers became divided in ideologies. While Goldar was more respectful towards Zedd, Silverback believed that Zedd had become weak, in large part due to his disfigurement at the hands of the Zeo Crystal, and believed that he shouldn't take orders from the weak. This had clearly happened over some time since he implied that he had resented conquering so many planets in what he saw as a wasteful endeavor. Zedd mortally wounded Silverback with a massive red energy blast from his staff and had Goldar execute him for his treachery with his own sword through beheading (which then became Goldar's sword).

Personality

Although not much is known of Silverback's personality, due to the very little time we spend with him, it is clear that he is a bullheaded, hotheaded and arrogant individual who respects power and ability over individuals and was willing to kill those he seemed weaker than him. He also shows no regard or care for who the individual is, as seen when he tried to kill Zedd in spite of his reputation but seemed to hold some respect for his younger brother until his ideas about Zedd became clear. His arrogance is very apparent since he even got into a heated arguement with Zedd and sense to have no regard for his own safety.

Arsenal

  • Sword-Silverback wielded a large bladed golden sword in battle which would later become Goldar's personal weapon.

Notes

  • Silverback is named after the gorilla term of the same name.
  • Silverback once wielded Goldar's sword before Goldar did. Goldar previously wielded a small Viking like axe instead prior to him killing Silverback.
