- "No, I didn't mean it, please. No!"
- ―Shimazu's final words to Kapri and Marah before his demise.[src]
Shimazu was an ancient warlord that attacked the local village 2,000 years ago. His spirit was sealed in an ancient mask carved in his likeness. The reincarnation of him was one of the main generals in Lothor's army.
History[]
Introduced in the two-part episode "Shimazu Returns", he was accidentally brought back to life by Motodrone during a battle between the Green Samurai Ranger Cam Watanabe and Motodrone, due to Motodrone's reanimated energy. He joined Lothor's army and unleashed three wolf-like monsters called Wolfblades. Though the Rangers defeated his Wolfblades and the combined three-headed wolf monster called the Wolfblade Conglomerate with the Thunder Ultrazord, he remained as part of Lothor's army for the remainder of the series. TV STORY-Shimazu Returns
Shimazu, along with his partner Vexacus, plotted to take control of Lothor's ship, but he was eventually betrayed.
In the penultimate episode of Power Rangers Ninja Storm "Down and Dirty", Shimazu later teamed up with Marah and Kapri, who revealed themselves to be masterminds, having concealed their genius. They used him to try to destroy the Rangers in their Zords. However, after the Zords were destroyed by the Rangers, Marah and Kapri destroyed him, having been working for Lothor throughout. After he was destroyed, his mask remained; and as stated when he first appeared, if it was his mask that holds his soul, it's possible that he's still very much alive inside the mask.
Shimazu returned from the Abyss of Evil in the final part of the two-part series finale episode "Storm Before the Calm", and was quickly defeated by the Red Wind Ranger's Battlizer. Much like the other generals however, it wasn't revealed if he was completely destroyed. TV STORY-Storm Before the Calm
Alternate Shimazu[]
In an alternate dimension, Shimazu is good. He is among those who help Mayor Lothor fight the Evil Ninja Rangers. TV STORY-The Wild Wipeout
Personality[]
Shimazu is calm, quiet, manipulative, sadistic, and very cunning. He will take his missions both seriously and offensively. Despite his amusing personality and antics, he is a treacherous and merciless trickster. He relishes the thought of being in control of a situation, which leads him to conspire alongside Vexacus to trick Zurgane and eventually overthrow Lothor. He is all too glad to cause enough mayhem with or without his boss's direction.

Notes[]
- It is possible this villain is named Shimazu because of his demonic appearance. In Japanese history Shimazu Yoshihiro, head of the great Shimazu clan of the island Kyushu, was often referred to as "The Devil" Shimazu.
- Shimazu's name, demonic appearance, accent, Japanese writing on his leg, and fighting style all suggest he was most likely an Asian/Japanese warlord.
- Unlike his Sentai Counterpart, Sixth Spear, Satarakura, who was loyal to his master, Tau Zant, Shimazu was more deceptive to his master, Lothor. He is the fourth villain with this distinction, with the first being Darkonda, the second being Deviot, the third being Vexacus, the fifth will be Imperious, the sixth will be Serrator, and the seventh will be Madame Odius.
- Unlike his Sentai Counterpart, Shimazu does not kill the Samurai Green Ranger nor destroy his Megazord (the Samurai Star Megazord will be the only Megazord to survive in Ninja Storm). Additionally, Shimazu was never seen without his mask.
- However, Satarakura did plot against Tau Zant once Sandaaru showed up.
- Also, unlike Satarakura, Shimazu was never a member of Lothor's army in the first place, while Satarakura has been a member of Jakanja for a long time.
- It is unknown why Shimazu did not appear again whereas his Wolfblades return in Dino Thunder.
