This article is about an ally in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. |
Sebastian (セバスチャン Sebasuchan) is the personal servant of Hymeno Ran in the country of Ishabana. Despite his appearances, he is a 25[1](27 post-time skip) year-old man whose real name is Romane Dearborn (ロマーネ・ディアーボーン Romāne Diābōn).
History[]
Background[]
Born Romane Dearborn, the Duke of Ishabana's thousand-year-old Dearborn family, he was a charming young man with a kind heart, whose looks were beyond dazzling and won the hearts of the people around him, with some even fainting in his presence. Unfortunately, the people's extreme reactions towards his beauty proved too much for him, and he began to see his looks as a sin, as he was unable to be himself in front of others truly.
Three years before the start of the series, he was contemplating the decision to disfigure himself when he was stopped by Hymeno herself, who took him in as her butler. He was christened the name "Sebastian" and given a makeover to look older, thus freeing him from the burden of his beauty. TV STORY-Ep. 36: Hymeno's Matchmaking Strategy

Personality[]
Sebastian takes his job as Hymeno's butler very seriously, acting with grace and good manners befitting a gentlemanly butler. he even changed his appearance to look older due to Hymeno's desire for him to appear more like a stereotypical butler. Sebastian goes along with Hymeno's excessive self-indulgence because he knows she has good intentions behind it all, but that doesn't stop him from worrying about it occasionally.
Post-time skip, Sebastian is shown to have become much more self-indulgent and can be seen overeating on multiple occasions. It is not until Hymeno's return that he is snapped back to his senses, returning to his former self.

Etymology[]
Sebastian is one of the many random characters inspired by the Sesemann Family butler of the same name in Johanna Spyri's 1880/1881 novel "Heidi's Years of Wandering and Learning", which was adapted into anime as "Heidi, Girl of the Alps" that aired in 1974. The butler in both the aforementioned novel and anime was kind and people loved him so much that his name has since become a stereotypical, iconic name for butlers in Japanese media.
