This article is about a/an monster in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. |
Scuttleworms are, as their name implies, a species of monstrous three-headed worms native to planet Erridus in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. They mainly serve as a foil for the Cosmic Fury Rangers as well as the forces of Squid Ink, Inc., one of which appears in the episode "Off Grid" and serves as the primary threat of that episode.
History[]
The only information initially known about Scuttleworms is that they have voracious appetites, noted by Jozotic when he mentions that some of the beasts he encountered devoured his hunting bots. Aiyon, however, learns of this trait while foraging for food on the desert planet. Having collected some food, he finds a larval worm having eaten clean through one of his collection bins. He quickly spills the bin and retreats, the larva now grown to its adult form after eating its meal and chasing him in search of more food. TV STORY-Off Grid
Scuttleworms are shown to molt and mature quite rapidly. When in their adult forms, they become bipedal as well as hyper-aggressive, their bodies still composed of numerous tentacles and mouth segments.
They reproduce in pairs, laying eggs in a ring around their nests. Should their nests be disturbed, both parent worms will attack to protect their young. While unknown exactly how Solon was captured by a pair of worms, her unexpected absence while repairing the Cosmic Cruiser provokes Fern to search for her. Fern finds Solon in a nest about to become food for hatching larvae and starts blasting them with a Cosmic Morpher, only for the parents to return and attack her. As Solon struggles to free herself, she steps in front of a shot meant for Fern; the ensuing scuffle then entangles Solon and Fern as such that the Morpher activates and fries Solon's robotics. A DNA link between the two is also forged, transforming Fern into the Cosmic Fury Orange Ranger. TV STORY-Take Off
Solon later explained that it took over 14 hours to remove the Scuttleworm goo from her body. TV STORY-Operation Seasoning
