- "The Fiery Adventurer! Bouken Red!"
- ―Bouken Red's roll call[src]
Satoru Akashi (明石 暁 Akashi Satoru), nicknamed "Chief" (チーフ Chīfu) by his fellow Boukengers, is the Passionate Adventurer [Citation needed]from 16 April 2023 (UTC), or Ardent Adventurer[3] Bouken Red, alternatively Boukenred[3][4][5][6][7] (熱き冒険者ボウケンレッド Atsuki Bōkensha Bōken Reddo) of the Boukengers.
History[]
Boukenger[]
Satoru is the chief of the Boukengers and the Fiery Adventurer. Driving the GoGo Dump and the GoGo Commander, he leads the team with a calm expression and a fire in his heart, mainly battling King Ryuuwon of the Jaryuu Clan. Once an enthusiastic treasure-hunter known as the "Immortal Fang", the tragic deaths of his partners Kyoko and Shirou in a blaze trap made him retire, only to be hired by SGS. He says "Attack!" and simultaneously snaps his finger at the end of each order he gives to the others. He refers to the other Boukengers by their respective colors, much to Masumi's disliking.
The Lost Vehicles[]
He became filled with self-doubt after GoGo Vehicles 1-5 were buried under ice in a deep crevasse, the resulting suffering of his teammates sparked his memories of Kyoko and Shirou. It took his mighty willpower for him to control the overload-prone GoGo Drill and prevent history from repeating itself.

Manuscript of Leon Giordana[]
Satoru has at times gone off by himself to find Precious or protect his comrades. In Task 10-11, he let Ryuuwon and Arch Priest Gajah take DaiBouken with him inside to the secret island where SGS kept the Manuscript of Leon Giordana.

The Greatest Adventure[]
Satoru used to be a huge fan of Jimon Kagawa's writings about heroes. He is a constant rival of Ryuuwon and took Ragi, a human whom Ryuuwon had transformed into a Wicked Dragon, under his protection and received "the Greatest Adventure" while restoring the Water Metropolis.

The Greatest Precious[]
During the events of the Boukenger movie, Satoru encountered his father Kouichi, whom he eventually settled his affairs with. Satoru was given the offer to quit the Boukengers and join SGS Rescue, but he refused, because he likes to have his own adventures. Instead, he gave Eiji Takaoka the GoGo Changer.

Final Fight with Ryuuwon[]
When most of the GoGo Vehicles were damaged by Furious Demon God Gai and Grand Beast Rei's new Homunculus, he took SirenBuilder, since Eiji at that time was frozen in stone and was never used, to go stop the Quester controlled Homuculus. His real intention was to detonate SirenBuilder with the Homunculus holding on, but everyone came in time to tell Satoru that they are a team and cannot do everything alone. He fought Ryuuwon for the final time, only to endure the destruction of the Precious Bank thanks to Great Sword Man Zubaan. He then followed Desperado in the modified DaiVoyager.

Aftermath[]
Six months after the final battle with Gajah, Satoru left the Boukenger team to take on a new adventure by taking the space-worthy GoGo Voyager into space to fight outer space Precious. Though he was surprised that Sakura followed him, and apparently utterly clueless as to her true intentions.

Gekiranger vs. Boukenger[]
Satoru in Gekiranger vs. Boukenger
At the beginning of the movie, when Sakura is possessed by Pachacamac, Satoru is forced to aid him in obtaining the two jewels the monster needed to regain his power. Once Sakura is freed, Satoru aids his team and the Gekirangers in defeating Pachacamac.
At the end of the movie, Sakura calls him by his first name (Satoru-san). This hints that their relationship has progressed after the finale, for which they are teased by the other Boukengers.

Gokaiger[]
Legend War[]
A few years later, Satoru fought alongside not only his own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gomin and their Sugomin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them and gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. After the Great Legend War, Satoru, alongside Go-Onger Saki Royama, is the one who informs the Goseigers that they destroyed the Zangyack's first invasion.

The Adventurer Heart[]
Satoru appeared in the 21st episode of Gokaiger. Because the Boukengers support the collection of precious items from adventures—as was the case with the Akaki pirates and the Ranger keys—he begins by reassuring the Gokaigers that his team will not try to take their Keys back. He then asks for the Gokaigers' aid in retrieving "The Heart of Hades" (黄泉の心臓 Yomi no Shinzō), a powerful Precious. During the mission, Satoru taught Marvelous about having an Adventurer's Heart. At the end of the episode, Satoru mentions AkaRed, wondering if this is best for him.

Empowering the Combination Nin Shuriken to form Wild Tousai Shuriken King, the first 38 Super Sentai further imbued their successors with the power to perform the Zyuoh Ninnin Super Sentai Burst, destroying Gillmarda with the combined power of all 40 Super Sentai.

MOVIE STORY-Kaizoku Sentai: Ten Gokaiger
Personality[]
Even though he mostly shows a calm exterior, Satoru actually hides hot blood inside. It is evidenced when he simply catapulted Masumi and Natsuki into the GoGo Dump's bucket and carried them and an entire tub of dirt and gravel at full throttle out of the Gordom temple before dumping the entire load upon coming to a full stop. He is also oblivious to Sakura's heavily implied attraction to him as he is a workaholic.
Among the Boukengers, Satoru is the one who loves adventures the most. This is to the extent that he has admitted that he would have nothing left without adventures and adventures are what makes him who he is. Satoru admitted this in Task 32 after he failed the entrance exam of the Adventure School which later turned out to be a mix up of the test scores.
TV STORY-Task. 32: The Secret of the Adventure School
Satoru also hated being laughed at and expressed annoyance and anger whenever people start laughing at him for some reason either usually due to what he said or for another reason.
Satoru also loves taking risks and doing anything that causes thrill. This is also a reason why he ventured into outer space in the finale despite Masumi and Eiji opposing this decision, saying it was too dangerous and reckless.

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Satoru Akashi is portrayed by Mitsuomi Takahashi (高橋 光臣 Takahashi Mitsuomi).
- As Bouken Red, his suit actor was Hirofumi Fukuzawa (福沢 博文 Fukuzawa Hirofumi).
- In the Korean dub of Boukenger entitled Power Rangers Treasure Force, which aired in South Korea, Satoru is renamed Caine (케인 Kein?), while his designation is Treasure Red (트레저 레드 Teurejeo Redeu?). He is voiced by Kim Youngsun (김영선?) in the main series and Sim Kyuhyuk (심규혁?) in Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle.
Design[]
BoukenRed sports red and white spandex with the big Boukenger crest across the chest and a pair of shoulder pads. He wears a silver belt. He also wears red gloves and boots, each pair comes with silver accesory. His helmet visor resembles the windshield of the GoGo Dump.
Etymology[]
- "Akashi" (明石) is from the surname of Japanese officer Motojiro Akashi (明石 元二郎 Akashi Motojiro), who entrapped Russia to confusion as a spy of the Imperial Japanese Army in the Russo-Japanese War.
- The kanji for "Satoru," "暁," can also be read as "sunrise" (暁 akatsuki, literally red dawn). "Satoru" is also Japanese for "to realize".
- The First 3 Letters in his Surname (Aka) also refers to the kanji for his color.

- "Boukenger!"
- ―Mobilates' Gokai Change announcement[src]
The Bouken Red, alternatively Boukenred[3][4][5][6][7] Ranger Key (ボウケンレッドレンジャーキー Bōken Reddo Renjā Kī) is Satoru Akashi's personal Ranger Key and what became of his powers after he along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.
This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. Marvelous and AkaRed found the Bouken Red key together, with AkaRed saving Marvelous from a trap shortly before.
TV STORY-Ep. 21: The Adventurer Heart The Bouken Red Ranger Key was mainly used by Captain Marvelous (Gokai Red), who used it to fight as Bouken Red. It was also used by Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue) and Gai Ikari (Gokai Silver) on several occasions.
- Joe became Bouken Red as part of an all-red Gokai Change when the Gokaigers traveled to the past and fought against Shitari of the Bones and his Gedoshu during the Goseigers' team-up with the Shinkengers.

The Boukenger keys, along with all the Ranger Keys of the first 33 Super Sentai, were briefly taken by the Black Cross King and turned into Ranger puppets that were fought by the Gokaigers and the Goseigers. Splitting up, the puppet Bouken Red was defeated as part of a group of surviving Red warrior keys by Gokai Red and Super Gosei Red.

After Zangyack were finally defeated, the Gokaigers gave the Ranger Keys back to their rightful owners. Satoru received his key and became Bouken Red once more.
TV STORY-Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates
The Bouken Red Ranger Key was donated to be used in the Super Sentai Derby Colosseum. The Bouken Red Clone was summoned in a Red Ranger Clone Group that went after Gai Ikari and Masatoshi Niwano but was beaten by Joe.

The Super Sentai Zyudenchi (スーパー戦隊獣電池 Sūpā Sentai, Super Squadron Beast Batteries), alternatively named Legend Sentai Zyudenchi (レジェンド戦隊獣電池 Rejendo Sentai Jūdenchi, Legend Squadron Beast Batteries) in the toyline, are a special line of Zyudenchi that contain the likeness of the Sentai teams before Kyoryuger (represented by the main Reds). These Zyudenchi are in the same fashion as the "Legend Rider" lines of Collectible Devices
in the Kamen Rider Series
.
Boukenger Ressha
The Legend Sentai Ressha (レジェンド戦隊レッシャー Rejendo Sentai Ressha) are Ressha based on the mecha, specifically those belonging to the Red heroes, of the ToQgers' preceding Super Sentai teams. They can form a unique combination of ToQ-Oh reminiscent of past Sentai Robos by switching with Red Ressha. The ToQChanger toy is shown to have sounds for Legend Ressha of all 37 previous Sentai.
Boukenger Ressha (ボウケンジャーレッシャー Bōkenjā Ressha) - Appears as an SG Ressha. The actual ToQ Ressha is likely based off of Bouken Red's personal vehicle GoGo Dump; should it replace Red Ressha in ToQ-Oh, it would most likely form ToQ-Oh Boukenger Robo.
The BoukengerSoul (ボウケンジャーソウル BōkenjāSōru) as yet only exists as an unused sound in the Ryusoulgers' Ryusoul Ken.[9][10]
