Sakurako Igasaki (伊賀崎桜子 Igasaki Sakurako) is the mother of Takaharu and Fuka Igasaki[1] and Tsumuji's wife who is a ninja freak. She created the idol duo Ninnin Girls (ニンニンガールズ Ninnin Gāruzu), consisting of Fuka and Kasumi.
History[]
Little is known about her life before her marriage to Tsumuji Igasaki. It is assumed that she was already an idol producer by then and that she married Tsumuji in part because he came form a family of ninjas. It is implied that the marriage deteriorated after she learned that Tsumuji could no longer cast Ninjutsu (because Tsumuji's Nintality was stolen, though he did not know that at the time). Sometime after Fuka's birth, Sakurako and Tsumuji separated, possibly divorced, and the former focused more on her career.
Sakurako was not a part of her children's lives again until after the second defeat of Kibaoni Gengetsu by the Ninningers. At some point after, she learned that Fuka was interested in becoming a ninja idol. She recruited Kasumi into joining Fuka as an idol duo called the Ninnin Girls, with the catchphrase "Instead of hiding, we'll thrill you!".
When the Ninningers reunited for the two-year anniversary of their victory over Kibaoni Gengetsu, she demanded that to avoid brand confusion with the Ninnin Girls, the male Ninningers retire their weapons, their title as Ninningers, and even the team catchphrase "Instead of hiding, we rampage!" She proposed that they stake all of those on a series of one-on-one competitions with the Ninnin Girls.
To help even the count, she recruited Luno Kokonoe to join the Ninnin Girls, giving her Green Transformation Shuriken that Izayoi Kyuyemon had received before her death. She also reluctantly allowed Tsumuji to fill their fourth slot. His match during this would be the first time Sakurako learned that he had recovered his Nintality.
When the Ninnin Boys lost due to sabotage by the remnants of the Kibaoni Army, led by Ariake no Kata, Sakurako held them to their promise and had them retire their changers. It was during the Ninnin Girls' next appearance that the Kibaoni Army would reveal themselves and Sakurako would learn that they had interfered with the fights, including Fuka's victory over Takaharu. Scared that this meant Fuka might in fact not be strong enough to survive the fight and could lose everything, Sakurako unsuccessfully tried to dissuade her from fighting.
When it appeared as though the Samurai Commander had killed Fuka and Kasumi, Sakurako would scream in fear and anguish. When the former Ninnin Boys arrived to stop Samurai Commander from finishing her offf, Takaharu would remind her that Fuka had not found her own dream, but rather adopted her mother's, and she was not so weak as to die before she fulfilled her own destiny. Sure enough, both girls were fine. However, the damage had been done; Sakurako's fear from earlier was used to revive Kibaoni Mangestsu.
Sakurako acknowledges that the bet is invalidated insofar as she does not object when Tsumuji brings the Ninnin Boys' weapons, restoring the Ninningers to full strength. The two get to safety and watch the fight form a rooftop, with Sakurako wondering if she was wrong to push Fuka the way she did. Tsumuji assured her that she wasn't, and that she still played a key role in helping Fuka towards her dream. Sakurako still admitted that she neglected her children for too long, to the point where she missed them growing up entirely.
Legacy[]
It is implied that after the Ninningers go their separate ways again and Kasumi announces her graduation (retirement) as an idol, Sakurako chooses not to represent Fuka anymore as Naagi volunteers for the job. She also has fully reconciled with Tsumuji, possibly resuming their marriage.
