The RyoTegaSword (リョウテガソード Ryōtegasōdo) is a two-handed sword weapon used by the core Gozyugers to power-up into the TegaSword Gozyugers.[1]

Overview

"This is the RyoTegaSword! It is the power that Hoeru Tono and I seized together with both our hands! (この剣はリョウテガソード！遠野吠と私の両の手でつかみ取った力だ！ Kono ken wa Ryōtegasōdo! Tōno Hoeru to watashi no ryō no te de tsukami totta chikarada!)"

Known as The Final Sword (最後の剣 Saigo no Tsurugi) and The Ultimate Two-Handed Sword (究極の両手剣 Kyūkyoku no Ryōte Tsurugi), the RyoTegaSword is a powerful two-handed sword that appeared in the previous Universe War. It chooses those that it sees as its chosen user, but no one had been able to release it. It also tests those it chooses, as it does not want anyone to simply be its user despite choosing them. When both Hoeru and TegaSword took the handle, TegaSword realized that not one being can release it alone, requiring both its chosen user and TegaSword to come together as one to pull it free.

History

Similar to the OrcaBooster5050, the RyoTegaSword appeared in the previous Battle of Rings in its petrified state, appearing only to the ones chosen by the sword. However, none of them were able to pull it out of the stone base so the sword remained in its sealed state.

RyoTegaSword later chose Hoeru Tono, where he was given a trial to enjoy a peaceful world without TegaSword, Bridan, and the Calamity, as TegaSword perished from overexertion when he completely eradicated the Calamity in that world's Universe War, and as a consequence of TegaSword's death, the Bridan did not come into existence. Thus, Hoeru lived a happy life with his family, including Hisamitsu. Hoeru was then given a choice by TegaSword: continue to enjoy the peaceful world or to return to the original one filled with conflict. Hoeru decided to choose the latter out of loyalty to his friends and attempted to pull out the RyoTegaSword to no avail. TegaSword had briefly assuming it is due to Hoeru's lack of determination before Hoeru replies to TegaSword's assumption that the latter has the responsibility of helping him pull the sword. It was then the two realizes the sword required both the power of the chosen one and the god to pull it out, allowing them to successfully pull out the sword on the next attempt.

The sword is then kept by Hoeru, though in some occasion, Hoeru can lend the sword to other Gozyugers to transform into TegaSword Form. While TegaSword can also possess the weapon to help Gozyugers.

Functionality

The RyoTegaSword acts both as a weapon and a transformation device, which can be used by one of the core Gozyugers to transform into a TegaSword Gozyuger, which is done by placing the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring onto the slot in the crossguard of the RyoTegaSword and cladding the Gozyuger with the TegaSword Gozyu Armor (テガソードゴジュウアーマー Tegasōdo Gojū Āmā). In combat, the armor can extend the dual TegaSword Hands (テガソードハンド Tegasōdo Hando) to allow the TegaSword Gozyuger to block enemy attacks and execute mutiple strikes simultaneously. The RyoTegaSword can also use different Universe Rings to the channel the power of previous Sentai Reds and perform their attacks.

Transformation

To transform, the user inserts the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring into the slot on the middle of the crossguard and rotates the sword in a circle starting from a downward position and ending with said sword positioned parallel to the opposing arm. When the user presses the trigger, they immediately turn into their Gozyuger form, then appear in a space that absorbs its surroundings, forming the TegaSword Hands onto them before they close together, transforming into the TegaSword Gozyu Armor. When Hoeru transforms, he gets an additional cosmetic change to his helmet, making it look like the TegaSword Red Ring.

Combination

To begin the combination sequence, GozyuWolf opens the legs on his TegaSword followed by extending the RyoTegaSword into the air. Then, as Giant God TegaSword would release all of its joints, unfold its legs and twisting 180° counterclockwise, and repositioned its arms on its back, the giant-sized RyoTegaSword would split into separate components as armor and arms. The arms with the Ryoga Swords, and the crossguard hilt are attached to the torso. After that, the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring would manifest as a giant version of itself, forming the cockpit. As with TegaSword, Hoeru's clothing will change into the white garb with black and gold vest, black jeans, and pair of brown boots, followed by the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring attaching to the top to form the head. To complete the combination, Hoeru Tono places the smaller version of RyoTegaSword in Robo Mode into the cockpit space and exclaims "Ring in! Transcendent Man and God as One!" (リングイン！超越人神一体！ Ringu in! Chōetsu jin-shin ittai!), followed by the remaining components of RyoTegaSword attaching to TegaSword's legs by the Sole Boosters opening to become the new legs and feet, completing the combination.

By inserting a Universe Ring into the RyoTegaSword, the user is able to channel the power of the Leader Ranger featured on the Universe Ring, allowing them to perform an attack either related to the aforementioned Ranger (i.e. Shinkenger Ring => Shinken Red's Many Fires Profusion), a team attack, or a weapon finisher. Alternatively, the user is able to insert a TegaSword Ring into the RyoTegaSword and perform an attack related to the designated weapon of said TegaSword Ring.

To activate the RyoTegaSword's finisher, a TegaSword Gozyuger holds down the trigger on the RyoTegaSword. The TegaSword Hands unfold from around the TegaSword Gozyuger's chest, wielding their weapon(s) for a powerful final strike in conjunction with an energy slash from the RyoTegaSword.

  • TegaSword GozyuWolf: The TegaSword Hands wield the WolfDecalibur50 and OrcaBooster5050, allowing them to perform two energy slashes and an energy blast in conjunction.
  • TegaSword GozyuLeon: The TegaSword Hands create a blue energy blade similar to the TegaSword's blade from one hand and wields the LeonBuster50 in the other hand, allowing them to perform two energy slashes and fire several miniature planets as bullets in conjunction.

RyoTegaSword (Giant) (リョウテガソード（巨大） Ryōtegasōdo (Kyodai)) is the giant form of RyoTegaSword, typically appearing only before its combination with TegaSword into its Robo Mode.

RyoTegaSword (リョウテガソード Ryōtegasōdo) is the combination of the TegaSword, the RyoTegaSword, and the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring.[1] This form serves as the ultimate power of TegaSword, surpassing all previous forms. Mirroring the power of a TegaSword Gozyuger's wish, it wields the dual Ryoga Swords (凌駕双刀(リョウガソード) Ryōga Sōdo) to execute dual sword techniques and repels enemy attacks with armor powered by TegaSword's wish. The Ryoga Swords can also be used as bracers to execute kicks, generate energy manifestation of the Ryoga Swords to attack aerial-bound opponents, and the robo can freely change its size with the power of wishes to fight according to the opponent and the battle situation.

The finisher is the TegaSword: RyoTega Burst (テガソード・凌手駕(リョウテガ)バースト Tegasōdo: Ryōtega Bāsuto), where the hands on RyoTegaSword's armor flips to expose the palms and the Ryoga Swords are pointed toward the opponent. Energy is then gathered at the armor's center for the robo to unleash a light-blue energy beam powerful enough to destroy the target instantly.

RyoTegaSword Five Color (リョウテガソードファイブカラー Ryōtegasōdo Faibu Karā) is the combination of the TegaSword, the RyoTegaSword, the weapons of the core Gozyugers and the RyoTegaSword Sentai Ring.[3] This form grants RyoTegaSword the Wolf Dehood (ウルフデフード Urufu Defūdo) on its head, the Horn Drill (ホーンドリル Hōn Doriru) on its right shoulder, and the arrow portion of the EagleShooter (イーグルシューター Īgurushūtā) on its left shoulder. It additionally replaces RyoTegaSword's right and left arms with the LeonBuster Cannon (レオンバスター砲 ReonBasutā Hō) and the left Tyrant Fist (暴君拳(ぼうくんけん) Bōkun Ken) respectively.

The finisher is the Gozyuger: Sword End (五獣者(ゴジュウジャー)・ソードエンド Gojūjā: Sōdo Endo), where the robo combines the five Gozyugers' energies and creates a manifestation of the RyoTegaSword weapon to slice the opponent in half upon its destruction.

Design

  • RyoTegaSword:
    • RyoTegaSword's design is based on a sword, TegaSword, and the universe.
    • The gold inscription on the sword is the katakana for "RyoTegaSword" in regular and mirrored positions. This is clearer when the RyoTegaSword combines with TegaSword, as the inscribed section of the blade turn into the Ryoga Swords, as well as RyoTegaSword raising his left Ryoga Sword (the one with the katakana in the regular position) after the combination.
    • The RyoTegaSword Ring features "No.1" as part of the ring's design.
    • The RyoTegaSword's petrified form is a reference to the sword in the stone from Arthurian legend.

Etymology

  • The name RyoTegaSword is a combination of "both my hands" (両手が Ryōte ga) and "sword" (ソード sōdo), which when translated together means "both sword hand" (両手がソード Ryōte ga sōdo). It can also be translated to "Both my hands are the sword". The name is also similar to a type of sword called a Zweihänder, which means "Two-hander" in German.

Notes

  • While shown that all the Gozyugers can use the RyoTegaSword, Hoeru is the only one to receive a helmet change as the latter was the one chosen by the sword, and merged with TegaSword in its first use.
  • At 505 meters tall, RyoTegaSword Robo Mode (Super-Giant) is the second tallest Super Sentai mecha in history, surpassed only by Transcendent Storming Ultimate Perfect King-Ohger.
  • The RyoTegaSword toy features extra joints that are not used any official combinations for it.
