Ruby Dragon is a red dragon/orchid/gondola-themed monster. He appears as the main antagonist of the episode "House of Cards", the first part of the four-part series finale of Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
History[]
Ruby Dragon is a dragon-like monster that was created by Elsa from the Ruby Dragon card which is part of the card game called Dragon War, and the most powerful card. Unfortunately for Ethan, Principal Randall takes the card from him when she catches him and Devin playing on school grounds.
As Elsa, she uses the Geno Randomizer to bring the Ruby Dragon to life. The Ruby Dragon's first mission is to defeat Trent, then he battles the other Rangers. The White Ranger shows up to take him down, but the Ruby Dragon knows Trent is keeping Mesogog's true identity a secret from the other Rangers.
The Ruby Dragon uses this to his advantage, but the Power Rangers were able to come together and defeat him with the Z-Rex Blaster Super Mode.
He was then enlarged and it took the Thundersaurus Megazord, the Mezodon Megazord, and the DinoStegazord's combined efforts to destroy him completely.
Personality[]
Ruby Dragon is a ruthless and aggressive monster who will attack anyone in his path, though he is shown to be more intelligent then previous monsters in Power Rangers Dino Thunder, as he knows the White Ranger's secret.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Eye Laser Blast: The Ruby dragon can fire red colored laser blasts from his eyes.
- Lightning Eye Beams: The Ruby Dragon can also fire light purple colored lightning beams from his eyes, which is his strongest attack since it caused all three Megazords to be severely shaken up.
- Optic Blast: The Ruby Dragon can also fire light pink colored energy blasts from his eyes as well. This attack can cover a wide area and was able to take down all five Dino Thunder Power Rangers.
- Lightning Empowerment: Sometimes, the Ruby Dragon's optic blast can be energized with light pink colored lightning during the attack, giving it an increase in power.
- Energy Laser Shower: The Ruby Dragon can rain down white colored energy lasers like a meteor shower.
Abilities[]
- Strength: The Ruby Dragon is shown to be one of the stronger monsters in terms of strength, being able to overpower all four Dino Thunder Power Rangers with ease, as well as stopping the Dino Stegazord's Tail Attack.
- Superhuman Speed: The Ruby Dragon can run in extremely fast race car-like speed, his speed is similar to the White Dino Ranger's and was able to match it in combat.
- Durability: The Ruby Dragon possesses thick scales that make him nearly immune to every single attack the Rangers used on him.
- Extraordinary Jumper: Ruby Dragon can jump at incredible heights.
- Agility: The Dragon is extremely agile while jumping.
- Flight: Being a dragon-themed monster, the Ruby Dragon can fly in the air thanks to the butterfly wings behind his back.

to be added
Arsenal[]
- Claws: Being a dragon-themed monster, the Ruby Dragon possesses large claws on his fingers that he can use against his enemies.
Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Ruby Dragon is voiced by Bruce Hopkins.
Design[]
- As his name applies, Ruby Dragon is a dragon-like creature colored in red, he also posses a yellow colored rose-like flower on his chest, and has a set of butterfly wings on his back.
Etymology[]
- The Ruby Dragon's name comes from the words "Ruby", a type of crystal, and "Dragon", a mythological creature.
Notes[]
- In Abaranger, Trinoid 1: Dragondoran was actually the final Monster-Of-The-Week faced in that show and was sent to try and revive the main villain using some mysticism, where as in Power Rangers Dino Thunder, the Ruby Dragon serves as the penultimate Monster-Of-The-Week.
- Instead, the Ugly Monster serves as the final Monster-Of-The-Week of Power Rangers Dino Thunder, which interestingly, DezumoVoorla came later than the Ugly Monster's counterpart, but was a combination of the two main antagonists and not a Monster-Of-The-Week.
- While The Ruby Dragon isn't the final monster of Power Rangers Dino Thunder, he is the final original monster to be fought by the Rangers, as the final monster, the Ugly Monster, is a renamed version of the DezumoVoorla, the major antagonist of the Power Rangers Dino Thunder's Super Sentai counterpart, Abaranger.
- The Ruby Dragon seems to know the White Ranger's secret about Mesogog possessing Anton Mercer, going off the impression that Elsa might have told him off-screen, or it is possible that the Ruby Dragon is more intelligent then most monster in Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
- The Ruby Dragon is the first dragon-themed Monster-Of-The-Week/villain in the Power Rangers series to not have the ability to breath out flames and/or fireballs, or have any fire-based abilities and/or attacks as a whole.
- The design of the cards were from Dragon War, which bare a resemblance to the cards seen in "Yu-Gi-Oh!"
- Coincidentally, Ruby Dragon is also the name of a card in Yu-Gi-Oh!, which was used by a duelist named Rebecca Hawkins. Both monsters had a shade of red on their skin.
