The Rock of Time was a giant mystical boulder that served as a major plot device in the two-part Season 2 episode “Rangers Back in Time”.
History[]
Ms. Appleby has her class bring in nostalgic items from their childhood to talk about as part of a class project. However, this inspires Lord Zedd to use the Rock of Time to regress the Earth by ten years, turning the Power Rangers into children with no memories of being Power Rangers and thus let him easily conquer the world. This causes compasses to go haywire and clocks to speed back in time faster and faster much to everyone’s confusion. When Appleby is confused by the classroom clock turning backwards in time, Goldar gives him praise throughout suggests speeding things along just to be sadistic and Zedd does just that which fully regresses the Rangers back to childhood. Later on, after the Rangers are returned to normal and destroy the Photomare monster, time still remains in the past so the Power Rangers head out to destroy it but soon find Goldar atop the mountain it is located on. Determined to stop them, he summons some Putties and Lord Zedd resurrects the Invenusable Flytrap, the Dramole, and the Oysterizer to aid him in battle but they are all destroyed and Goldar is forced to retreat. With Goldar gone, the Rangers summon the Power Cannon and obliterate the Rock of Time which returns time to normal
Powers and Abilities[]
- Time Reversion: When powered up by Lord Zedd, the Rock of Time could shoot out a red-orange glowing disc to circle around the Earth counter-clockwise and make it spin backwards through time in the style of the first Superman movie.
Notes[]
- The Rock of Time was an American exclusive creation not in Dairanger.
- It was created to regress the Power Rangers to explain why the adult actors couldn’t be in much of the two-parter (since the production of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie went through made them unavailable but they needed to film new episodes to appease Fox Kids).
- It was later told by Solon in Power Rangers Dino Fury.
- Despite being referred to as the ‘’’Rock’’’ of Time, it was clearly a giant boulder.
