This article is about a/an ally and former Ranger in the Power Rangers comic sub-franchise by Boom! Studios. |
Rhianth is the adoptive father of Sage who forbids his daughter from going to the Ranger Academy. It was later revealed that he was once a cadet enrolled in Ranger Academy and achieved the rank of Red Junior Ranger by passing his Morphin Trial.
History[]
Rhianth spent his youth at Ranger Academy, making friends with Nika and several other classmates. Later, Rhianth and Nika discovered an underground cave system within the core of the asteroid the Academy was built on. The caverns had a large lake that they all could swim in or splash around.
Amongst his accomplishments at the Academy, he won a robotics club competition. Rhianth’s first attempt at the first Morphin Trial did not go well as his classmate Zilan fooled around during their trek to Prism Peak, including getting into a lizard’s nest and deciding to fight a pair of Fire Hawks. This resulted in them getting to the Zeo Chamber too late and being held back a year. He managed to reach the Zeo Chamber after the second try and successfully morphed into a Red Ranger, gaining the rank of Junior Ranger and advancing into a Second Year cadet.
However, something happened that caused Rhianth to drop out of Ranger Academy and shut himself off from his friends and everyone. He somehow found an infant Sage and raised her on his own in isolation on a remote lunar colony on Vaela. Whenever his daughter felt sad or scared, he would tell her stories of “The Knights of Stardust” to comfort her. He taught her not to interact with offworlders and try to avoid them and then wait until they left their moon.
One day, years later, his teenage daughter came upon a crashed Astro Shuttle from Ranger Academy that, due to the pilot making a trajectory miscalculation during a jump, ended up nine lightyears off course. Sage aided its passengers back to his home and Rhianth reluctantly helped the cadets, Tula and Mathis, giving first aid and repairing their Astro Shuttle but strongly urged them to leave after he finished. He expressed a strong dislike of the Power Rangers and the Academy to them. Sage became curious about Ranger Academy and wanted to go, but Rhianth angrily objected and told her that she must stay with him. Sage then went to her treehouse, sad she was missing out on life, but hatched a plan with the cadets to sneak aboard the shuttle on a cargo crate.
When Rhianth went to apologize to Sage in her bedroom, telling her that he loved her and just wanted to keep her safe, he found their goat Nugget in the bed instead of her and angrily realized that she ran away from home. COMIC STORY- Ranger Academy Issue 1
A few days later, he activated a communications device to contact Nika, whom he no longer considered a friend, demanding to know where Sage was. COMIC STORY- Ranger Academy Issue 2
While the rest of the conversation was not revealed, Nika did relay to him that something was wrong with Ranger Academy’s communications.
When Sage went to counseling, she used the Spectra-Tube to connect to the Grid which would seek out someone to help her with her problems. The Grid chose her father, but due to the communications problems, neither of them could respond to each other and it seemed like Rihanth had left Vaela, but the transmission got cut off before Sage could see any further details on what was happening.
