This article is about a/an set of grunts in Power Rangers in Space, the last installment in the Zordon Era. |
The Quantrons were the robotic foot soldiers of Astronema.
History[]
They are armed with enormous bladed weapons called "Q-Blades", which can also fire blasts of energy, and they pilot the Velocifighters. They were last seen being destroyed by Zordon's energy wave in "Countdown to Destruction". They come in two color schemes: black with grey techno designs, and grey with black techno designs.
The episode "Shell Shocked" reveals that the Quantrons are capable of speaking English with a robotic voice, as one is interrogating a captured T.J. They do not display this ability afterward, instead communicating in robotic mumbling.
Strangely, although they are robots, their armor can be removed and worn, as demonstrated by Andros and Zhane in "Dark Specter's Revenge".

Etymology[]
Given the show's space and high science themes, as well as that these grunts are robots, Quantrons is likely constructed from quantum, referring to the field of subatomic studies, and the sci-fi-inspired -tron (from electronic).
Notes[]
- The Quantrons are the first foot soldiers to have handheld weapons that are named. They have the Q-Blades.
- The Quantrons are the fourth group of foot soldiers exclusive to Power Rangers, following the Z Putty Patrollers, Tenga Warriors, and Piranhatrons. They would be followed by the Stingwingers, Tyrannodrones, and Zentinels.
- Parts of their armor were later recycled for use by the Ancient Warriors in Wild Force.
