Promethea is an R&D tech corporation created by Grace Sterling. It is located off the California coast near the city of San Francisco, as the Golden Gate Bridge can be seen in the distance. Students with high academic scores and great potential are sometimes offered a chance to win an internship for the company and a funded scholarship program as an incentive to bring the brightest minds of each generation together to build a better tomorrow.

The corporate structure is massive in size, representing a city of the future with each section of the city dedicated to specific R&D sectors of tech and research. Among their projects are developing new alternative energy sources to gasoline, including experimenting with dark matter, and a top secret "weird tech" division that develops technology to counter the forces of Rita Repulsa and her monsters. Such projects include a manned Megazord-like mecha simply called a Mechazord and monster detecting surveillance tech and satellites. Despite this, some of its tech is questionable in terms of ethics, such as devices used to interrogate prisoners that generate powerful electric shocks and developing military grade weapons.

Issue 29 reveals that the facility would become Terra Venture, as Grace revealed to the Power Ranger army that her entire company building was capable of space travel as a mobile base if the situation called for it, though it’s components for that function were partially incomplete at the time. Thus, Grace is the creator of what would eventually become the home of the Lost Galaxy Rangers.

History

After relinquishing her Ranger powers to Zordon in 1969, Grace quit working at NASADA and worked hard to build a company that would fulfill her promise to Nikolai, Jamie and Daniel that she would make the world she defended worth saving. It took several decades, but she managed to accomplish this, creating Promethea and become one of the many prominent tech billionaires of Silicon Valley.

Notes

Promethea's concept as a city of the future that develops the tech of tomorrow sounds very similar to Walt Disney's original vision of EPCOT.
Promethea could be compared to Science Academia from Choujuu Sentai Liveman, as that also was a high tech facility that accepted gifted students.
