This article is about a/an series entry (the "28th" and the "29th") in the Power Rangers franchise. |
Power Rangers Dino Fury is the 28th and 29th seasons of Power Rangers[2], serving as an adaptation of the 43rd Super Sentai series, Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger.
The series is Hasbro's second production under their film division Allspark Pictures & Entertainment One following their acquisition of the franchise.
Production
On February 22, 2020, Hasbro revealed at New York Toy Fair 2020 that the next Power Rangers adaptation would be based off the 2019 dinosaur-based Super Sentai season, Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. However, the official title wasn't revealed at the time. It was revealed as Power Rangers Season 28.[3] On May 15, 2020, it was revealed that the adaptation would be called Power Rangers Dino Fury.[4]
As revealed by show-runner Simon Bennett, post-production on Beast Morphers wrapped around January 2020 but Ryusoulger was still airing and the writers of that show didn't want to release plot-points too early so the writers pretty much had to make things up as they went along with nothing but the raw footage as a reference. Given the fact that the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic started partway through production, it is yet unclear how the restrictions affected the series proper.[5]
In late April of 2021, it was revealed in an interview with actor Chance Perez that Dino Fury would be moving to the streaming service Netflix for its second season upon the 2021 expiration of the series' contract with Nickelodeon - thus marking the transition of the Power Rangers main series to streaming exclusivity.[6] In late May 2021, the series wrapped up filming.
Synopsis
When an army of powerful alien beings are unleashed on Earth, threatening life as we know it, a brand-new team of Power Rangers, fueled by the pre-historic power of the dinosaurs, are recruited to deal with the threat.

Notes
- The season name was almost Power Rangers Dino Knights but executives at Hasbro ended up deciding on Dino Fury instead. Why this is not made clear but it could be because the title is extremely literal to the point of bluntness.[9]
- First series of Power Rangers to have episodes released on Netflix before the actual TV airings since the episodes "Cut Off, Phoning Home and "McScary Manor" were aired on Netflix on June 15th 2021, about three months before the re-airings began on Nickelodeon in September.
- Although every past series of the franchise has made it onto Netflix at some point, this is the only one to occur both while it is airing new episodes and to air new episodes before the channel running them.
- This is the first Dinosaur themed season not to have a Ranger based on a Pterodactyl (Though there is a Zord).
- This is the first canonical season in the Power Rangers franchise to have a female Green Ranger.
- Although both Hyperforce and the Boom! Studios comic runs have have female Green Rangers, they are non-canon to the greater franchise as a whole and exist in thier own standalone continuities.
- First season since Power Rangers Wild Force in 2002 nineteen years earlier to flip the gender of a Ranger from how they were in the Sentai series since Izzy's counterpart (Ryusoul Green) was male in Ryusolger.
- Hayate Ichinose and Keito Tsuna portrayed Koh (Ryusoul Red), Bamba (Ryusoul Black), and Melto (Ryusoul Blue) in Ryusoulger, have acknowledged and given their blessings to the show.
- In April 2021, Simon Bennett confirmed that Dino Fury would not include any team-up episodes due to issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- This makes it the first season since Dino Charge not to feature a team-up in any form and the first since Jungle Fury in 2008 not to cross over with any teams whatsoever (since RPM teamed up with Samurai and then Dino Charge crossed with Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel [10]
- However, Mick Kanic from Power Rangers Ninja Steel/Super Ninja Steel appears in "Unexpected Guest" (to the point that it is named after him).
- This was likely possible due to Kelson Henderson (who played Mick) living in New Zealand which had one of the lowest rates of Coronavirus cases in the entire world during the pandemic.
- In Episode 11: McScary Manor, Javi explains that the suits were made of spandex, which means the suits must've changed since Power Rangers RPM.
