Power Rangers Dino Fury are the twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth seasons of Power Rangers, serving as adaptation of the 43rd Super Sentai series, Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger.

The series is Hasbro's second production under their film division Allspark Pictures & Entertainment One following their acquisition of the franchise.

Production

On February 22, 2020, Hasbro revealed at New York Toy Fair 2020 that the next Power Rangers adaptation would be based off the 2019 dinosaur-based Super Sentai season, Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. However, the official title wasn't revealed at the time. It was revealed as Power Rangers Season 28.[2] On May 15, 2020, it was revealed that the adaptation would be called Power Rangers Dino Fury. [3]

As revealed by show-runner Simon Bennett, post-production on Beast Morphers wrapped around January 2020 but Ryusoulger was still airing and the writers of that show didn't want to release plot-points too early so the writers pretty much had to make things up as they went along with nothing but the raw footage as a reference. Given the fact that the 2020-2021 Covid-19 pandemic started partway through production, it is yet unclear how the restrictions affected the series proper.[4]

Synopsis

65 million years ago, a war raged on a distant planet called Rafkon where a war was set into place by the Knights of Rafkon and the evil Sporix Beasts. After the destruction of Rafkon, the Sporix went to earth to search destroy life and other living creatures that lived there. The Knights of Rafkon followed their enemy to Earth and continued their relentless battle to protect the innocent life of the living, however the Knights of Rafkon were able to fight ferociously with the help of prehistoric dinosaurs that aided them in their battle with the Sporix. After one of the Sporix Beasts grew huge from its previous size, the Knights of Rafkon felt the remorse of losing their battle until the Morphing Masters gave them new incredible powers with the bond of their pre-historic allies they've became the first generation of the Power Rangers. After the Sporix defeat, only one knight was able to recall that day when he had "lost" his teammates in that war for peace and was placed inside by a tube-like container that his mentor put to sleep in.

Now, 65 million years later, an evil alien warlord named Void Knight went to search for the Sporix Beasts in the hidden base of the previous team so that destruction against Earth can begin once again. Then a new battle had commenced as Zayto was reawaken once again to eliminate the Sporix Beasts along with a new team of Power Rangers under his wing as he will once again defeat the Sporix and to protect the Earth from evil.

Notes

  • The season uses two very strange and random elements from the infamous Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 episode "Big Sisters." Said elements were the Morphing Masters themselves and the Power Eggs (which admittedly aren't actually present here but the Sporix Eggs are analogous to them).
    • This is specifically a strange lore to call on since the Morphin Masters didn't actually appear at all until now except as cloaked figures in that episode. And even then, they existed solely as plot-devices to explain why the Power Eggs were on Earth in the first place.
  • This is the first season since Power Rangers Wild Force where a female Ranger's Sentai counterpart is male. In this case, Towa, the counterpart to Izzy Garcia, was male.
  • This is the first season since Power Rangers RPM that doesn't have a cold opening.
  • The season name was almost Power Rangers Dino Knights, but higher ups at Hasbro ended up deciding upon Dino Fury instead.[9]
