Power Rangers was an upcoming American superhero drama in the Power Rangers franchise.
Originally produced by Hasbro for Netflix, it was to be developed by both Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein, who would serve as primary show-runners. However in 2024, it was announced that the series would no longer be moving forward, with Hasbro attempting to find a new showrunner to develop with.[1] Since the cancelation, reports surfaced that the project had been in development hell since 2020 due to Netflix's disinterest with the project. Although Hasbro stated that a new developer was being sought for, they announced they would no longer finance any film and television projects based on their IPs, due to recent commercial flops.[2]
Production
On October 20, 2020, it was announced that the franchise would receive a reboot, with Jonathan Entwistle attached as executive producer for an upcoming series of television shows and films.[3] The series is being developed alongside the upcoming film reboot.
On June 14, 2022, it was announced that Jenny Klein had joined the project as the series' show-runner.[4] According to Simon Bennett, production will start in 2024, and a finished product will release sometime in 2025.[5]
However on June 11, 2024, it was announced that the series would not be moving forward, with Hasbro attempting to find a new developer.[6]
By November 2024, it was announced that Hasbro no longer desires to finance film or television projects based on their IPs due to recent flops, leaving the fate of the reboot unknown.[7]
