Synopsis[]
This is it. There is nowhere left to run and no more time to prepare as the Omega Rangers must stand off against one of the Empyreal… with the fate of an entire planet at stake. And when the Omega Rangers discover the true nature of the threat to Earth, will they be able to warn their former teammates in time?[1]
Plot[]
Aboard the Spectrum II, Drakkon is casually observing the approach of the Empyreal to the planet Hartunia, admiring the fact these "scavengers" on the planet will know how it feels to be invaded and destroyed. As the evil cosmic entity descends through the atmosphere, the observing Emperor Rether Til proclaims that his glory has arrived.
Empress Evor is with the Omega Rangers in secret, telling them her husband is a fool and will doom the Hartunians, that her people hoped her marriage would change their leader but she obviously failed. She reveals she had kept up appearances in court but hid subjects that ally with her, now knowing her planet is doomed. Evor begs on her knees for the Omega Rangers to help in saving her people.
Rether Til orders his soldiers to attack the Empyreal, but the entity simply retorts that the arrogant emperor is delaying the inevitable and creates an army of creatures from the stone and soil to attack the Hartunian army. Trini and Jason arrive in their Omega Zords to assist, instructing XI to land the Spectrum II near Zack to evacuate the refugees since the castle's mineral deposits interfere with large scale teleportation. Zack heard the "good news" and tries to head to the ship while Trini and Jason try to fend off the Empyreal and buy him some time. Evor is aiding Zack with evacuation efforts but they are stopped by some of the imperial guards. The Empyreal easily pulverizes the two Omega Zords and then turns his attention towards the castle, musing that time is inevitable and all must die and be reborn eventually, and that its doing the will of its master. The castle's towers begin to crumble as Rether Til begins to show fear of the awesome might of the gigantic being heading towards him.
Evor and Zack fight off the guards and she tells him to leave her so she can fend the rest off while Zack helps her people survive. Zack objects to this as the Hartunians need leadership but she claims she will catch up with him soon.
The Empyreal continues his battle with the Omega Zords, curious as to why these heroes would help a planet of ravages and conquerors as justice would deem them fit to die. He is distracted long enough that Trini and Jason are in position to do an Omega Energy Vortex blast, but it does absolutely nothing to harm the cosmic being other than feeling a bit of pain.
Zack and Drakkon are loading refugees onto the ship, but XI says they need to hurry as the planet's radiation levels are spiking, a precursor to its destruction. Zack refuses to leave Evor behind, but XI reminds him she wished for her people to be safe and by calculations they need to be in a safe distance soon or they will not escape at all. Zack apologies to her as they take off, but sees Rether Til racing towards the ship to try and board. Zack shuts the hangar bay doors on him as the ship takes off, abandoning the cruel emperor to die. Drakkon comments on this, but Zack denies he saw him trying to get on.
XI orders the others to evacuate as the Empyreal prepares to detonate the planet, both agree as their Omega Zords are almost out of energy and there is nothing they can do to stop it. As they take off the Empyreal hints that he will visit Earth and repeat the process there soon. Hartunia is engulfed in a nuclear fireball as Rether Til spends his final minutes in disbelief that his "glorious" reign will end like this. Evor watches her people ascend into space, apologizing to them and Zack before she is burned to ash.
The Hartunians thank the Omega Rangers for rescuing them but are in disbelief when they learn Empress Evor is dead, wondering how they will carry on. Zacks tells them to respect that she sacrificed her life for theirs so they can start over. They agree and decide to honor her by living the way she truly wanted her kingdom to be. Zack leaves the room and is angry that all their heroics accomplished was rescuing thirty seven inhabitants out of millions. Jason tries to be positive, they prevented an alien race from becoming extinct. Trini tries to console Zack that he did all he could, while Drakkon suggests finding a way to track an Empryeal and find the one being in the universe that knows how to kill it.
On the charred husk of Hartunia, the Empyreal converses with its master, stating its task is done and the Omega Rangers are no threat compared with their predecessors. The entity's master is revealed to be Zartus, who orders the being to return to its brethren and await further instructions.
"..all is going according to plan."
