Power Rangers #2 is the second issue of the ongoing Boom! Studios comic book series, Power Rangers. This issue continues the Unlimited Power story event and is a continuation of Power Rangers #1 and Mighty Morphin #2. This issue features the debut of The Horrid.
Synopsis
Two New Series. Two New Teams. The UNLIMITED POWER ERA continues as the Power Rangers betray Zordon! A new cosmic threat is here and the all-new Power Rangers team will put it all on the line to stop it, even if it means trusting their mortal enemy Lord Drakkon. But as the new threat launches its first offensive against the Power Rangers, the question remains – will Drakkon act as friend or foe? After all, Drakkon always has a plan…[1]
Plot
In the Spectrum II, Zack's Omega Kamas is left floating, Yale trembling in fear, Trini floating in space in her Omega Ranger form, and Jason holding the line with his Omega Katana telling the enemies they are going down with him.
Six hours earlier, XI is telling Jason they still have 12 hours left until they go the assigned l place that Lord Drakkon had told them about. XI questions Jason's leadership, saying that Zordon has been trying any methods to track down the Omega Rangers. Jason justify his actions saying that The Empyreal would wipe out countless planets until they reach Safehaven so Jason had no other options. Trini then escorted Drakkon to his cell, with the latter telling the former that with her caring side, she should be making decisions for the team. But Trini refuses saying they are all in this together.
Meanwhile, Zack pretended to play basketball to himself while Yale was watching, with the former not wanting to play fetch with him, Yale scratched the ball in response. Then, the power in the Spectrum II went off. XI explained that the main power is losing energy, but the auxiliary power is still on. So the three Rangers went to separate decks to reactivate the engines.
While Zack was trying to disconnect a wire he heard something behind him. Trini assured Zack it wasn't her doing, until she noticed a group of creatures want to "feast" on her life force. Trini warn XI to put the Spectrum II on lockdown, while Jason try to reach her location before he was ambushed by the creatures. Jason tried to fight them, but he was no match for their strength, forcing him to retreat to the corridor. Zack then tried to hide from them, only for them to immediately find where he was and attack since Zack can't hide from them. He is forced to fight to where Jason is, only for the creatures to overpowered him. Before they could finish Zack, Yale arrived and attacked, with the former thanking Yale for his loyalty. Trini then tried to fight the creatures but they keep multiplying, so she breaches the airlock to pull them out from the ship. Trini assures XI that she hold off the Horrid for as long as she can.
The creatures then went to Drakkon's cell, with the evil ex-Ranger asking who they are. The leader says they are the Horrid. Drakkon desperately tried to bribe the Horrid King with more planets with life for them to feed upon their intentions to feed on him. But the King took Drakkon hostage, saying the Ship belongs to them now.
