This article is about a Legendary Ranger in Power Rangers Super Megaforce. |
This article is about a/an Ranger in the Power Rangers comic sub-franchise by Boom! Studios. |
Phiro is from Planet 0117 of the A47 Galaxy. After an encounter with the Morphinaut, he cycled through multiple Yellow Ranger powers across time & space & eventually became the Yellow Squadron Ranger of the Squadron Rangers.
Later, after sacrificing his Morphin Heart to save the Phantom Ranger, Phiro became the Yellow Emissary, an ethereal entity who represents the Morphin Masters. Adopting the appearance of Power Rangers respectively colored Yellow, he was not shown to have distinct forms but instead shifted through the forms of various Yellow Rangers throughout history.
His Squadron powers were later used by the Super Mega Rangers as part of the New Powers that Gosei gave the new team.
History[]
Prophecy[]
As seen by the philosopher, Sire Lentinvous, sixteen thousand years ago, as he witnessed the beginning of the universe in a vision, the Morphin Masters created the Emissaries from the light of a star, each one a different primary countenance. The purpose given to these Messengers, was to spread peace & tranquility throughout the universe. The Messengers existed outside of time, & could view the entirety of time in a non-linear fashion, allowing them to see into the past, & somewhat into the future. Because they also existed outside of the natural flow of time, they were effectively immortal in that they could not die naturally.

The Emissaries eventually became guardians of the Morphin Grid itself, & would observe each team of Power Rangers, new & old across time itself.
Shattered Grid[]
During the events of Shattered Grid, Zordon personally besought the Emissaries Three to intervene & stop Lord Drakkon from stealing the Morphers of the numerous Ranger teams across different times to enhance his own & his armies. The Emissaries listened to Zordon's pleading, but ultimately dismissed his concerns, believing Drakkon to be no threat to the Grid & that the Rangers Zordon chose would be able to stop him before sending Zordon back to his reality.
The Red Emissary reassured her fellow Emissaries that Drakkon was no threat, but they were proven wrong when Drakkon fused numerous Morpher power sets to his own, ultimately allowing him to enter the Morphin Grid itself. The Emissaries tried to stop Drakkon themselves, but were defeated, allowing the tyrant to steal the Heart of a Morphin Master & destroy the multiverse, & create his own ideal reality where he was God. The Emissaries were cast out of space & time, where they came across the essence of Tommy Oliver, a version of Drakkon from Zordon's reality who never strayed from the path of good.
Because Drakkon's insecurities were weakening his hold over his new universe, the Emissaries were to regain their power & sent Tommy back to Drakkon's world & reawaken his friends memories of their true lives. Tommy then introduced the Emissaries to his teammates. The Emissaries explained their role in protecting the Grid & their failure to prevent Drakkon's rise to godhood, before explaining alongside Tommy how to stop Drakkon & restore the multiverse by reclaiming the Heart of the Master from him. Ultimately, Zordon's Rangers were able to defeat Drakkon & take back the Heart, consigning Drakkon to his crumbling reality in the process.
The Emissaries pulled Tommy & his friends into the Morphin Grid & instructed them on how to use the Heart of the Master to restore reality back to as close to its original form as possible, while warning them there would be changes due to the extent of the "Shattering". They also told them they would not remember the events that led up to its collapse & restoration, due to the temporal paradox being impossible for their mortal minds to contain. Ultimately, the teens remade reality back to what it was, undoing the destruction Drakkon had wreaked upon it.
Upon reality's restoration, the Blue Emissary expressed awe & impression at Zordon's Rangers for repairing reality & subduing the threat of Drakkon, something they overlooked. The Yellow Emissary fired back that it was a threat created by them from an alternate reality. The Red Emissary ceased their argument & bid her brethren to inspect the new reality piece by piece, to ensure there were no threats to again shatter the Grid.
The Yellow Emissary observed a fierce battle between the In Space Rangers team against their evil counterparts, the Psycho Rangers, aboard the Astro Megaship, & the final event witnessed by the Yellow Emissary was the beginning of a new team of Beast Rangers.
Empyreals[]
Later on, after the murder of the Blue Emissary at the hands of Kiya, & then the murder of the Red Emissary by the Orange Empyreal, the Yellow Emissary--the last one--would hide themselves on a cloaked planet in an attempt to divine a means of defeating the Empyreals & ensure the last of their number could not be revived as the planet hid them from being found by the world ravagers. The Omega Rangers would soon encounter the Green Empyreal destroying the planet Gorvino III, & they soon afterwards returned to Earth for Zordon's help. The Sage knew next to nothing about the Empyreals, which forced them to take Drakkon into their custody so they could use what he knew to find & defeat them.
After a failed battle against the Orange Empyreal on the planet Hartunia, Drakkon was able to teach Trini to successfully resonate with the Red Emissary's remains to find the location of the Yellow Emissary, who warned her not to seek them out as they would only bring bring death in their wake. The Omega Rangers then sourse atrse to the Emissary's location to finally gain the answers they sought in hopes of stopping te mon sters. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 9
The Omega Rangers were able to travel to the hidden world where the Yellow Emissary had hidden themselves. Initially, the Emissary attacked the Rangers with its cloak, murmuring cryptic words before finally showing themselves to the Omega Rangers. The Yellow Emissary made it clear they would not help them the way the Blue Emissary had, but Trini beseeched the Emissary to tell them the origins of the Empyreals&d how to destroy them.
Reluctantly, the Yellow Emissary revealed they had seen two divergent paths: one where the Omegas fall, but the universe would live, & in the other, the universe waited for death in a rain of fire & screech of metal. The Yellow Emissary led the Omegas to a monolith that would show them the answers they sought, but warned them that they would face their fate together if they chose to look. The Omegas decided to peer into the images to learn the truth they had been looking for.
As the Omega Rangers watched the images in the monolith unfold, the Yellow Emissary bitterly ruminated his & his brethren's past arrogance of believing themselves all knowing immortal gods, but declared themselves nothing but insignificant links in chains holding a fragile balance in place. The Yellow Emissary showed the Omega Rangers the death of the Blue Emissary by Kiya's trident, & Zartus' subsequent acquisition of the Celestial Shard. The Omegas assumed destroying the crystal would destroy the monsters, but the Emissary clarified that only by slaying Zartus would the Empyreals be removed from reality.
The Yellow Emissary then revealed that their purpose was not to stop Zartus & the Empyreals, but to kill them. Trini realized what the Yellow Emissary's words meant, moments before the two Empyreals arrived to kill the Emissary to complete their ranks, having tracked Drakkon to the hidden world as he completed his end of the bargain they struck. The Omega Rangers fought valiantly to protect the Yellow Emissary, but when the Green Empyreal threatened Trini's life, they intervened to save her. The Omegas tried to convince the Yellow Emissary to leave with them, but the Yellow Emissary calmly accepted their fate & bid the Rangers good luck before being grabbed by the Orange Empyreal. Finally, the Yellow Emissary was killed by the same creature.

The Yellow Squadron Ranger Key is Phiro's personal Ranger Key. Because the Squadron Rangers are now Rangers of the Emissaries, Gosei seems to possess their powers via the Legendary Ranger Keys.
