The Oysterizer was an oyster-themed monster who served as the primary antagonist of the final episode of Season 1, "An Oyster Stew."

The Oysterizer was a monster who apparently had a past with Rita and yet managed to escape the war with Zordon in the past. How he did this is unclear but he likely went underwater and remained there for thousands of years. He was the guardian of a set of magic pearls called the Pearls of Stillness which could "render anyone near enough to them as still as statues." According to dialogue in the episode, the Oysterizer went into hibernation for at least ten thousand years until Rita awoke him in 1994 after Goldar recommended him when she planned to ruin a date Zack had set up between himself and Angela. The plan was then to send the Oysterizer out into the ocean and poison the Earth into oblivion since there would be no one left to oppose him. After Zack finally got Angela to join a double date with Kimberly and Tommy, Rita subsequently got into contact with him through her crystal ball and the Oysterizer gave her his Pearls of Stillness. A Putty gave him the Pearls and, after he fought it off, handed them to Angela which successfully paralyzed everyone except for him and Tommy because they went to the toilet which was apparently too thick for the Pearls' magical effects to penetrate.

Zack and Tommy were subsequently sent to Angel Grove Beach by Zordon to fight the Oysterizer and prevent him from poisoning the ocean. Due to the size of the beach, Tommy investigated the south of the beach whilst Zack examined the beach although the Oysterizer then back flipped out of the sea and confronted Zack, instantly jump punching him down upon exiting the water. The monster then fought with Zack but he immediately gained the upper hand by firing his acid gel at him and blasted him to the ground. However, Tommy intervened before the Oysterizer could make the final strike and cut him down with the Dragon Dagger before giving Zack his Dragon Shield. However, the Oysterizer recovered and took down Tommy with more of his acid gel although Zack managed to defeat the Oysterizer with a devastating jump punch to the chest. However. the Oysterizer escaped because it knocked him into the ocean although the other Power Rangers were freed by this in the process.

With Tommy weakened by the venom and writhing on the beach, the Rangers deployed alone in the Megazord and went to the ocean floor where they successfully destroyed the Pearls of Stillness with its Cranial Laser. However, the Oysterizer had apparently made himself grow underwater and had been standing nearby. The destruction enraged the monster and he went all out on the Megazord, easily gaining the upper hand and knocking it flat with a powerful double punch to the chest. The Rangers realised that the Megazord was not suited for underwater combat and was thus at a disadvantage so contacted Tommy on the beach. The Dragonzord was summoned and was able to knock him back onto dry land with one tail swing. However, the Oysterizer immediately recovered and gained the upper hand again by shoulder ramming the Dragonzord back. He then summoned his personal weapon which was a dagger and pearl connected by a chain before smacking it back with the pearl before tying it up. The Oysterizer then pulled it forward at which point he disabled it with his acid gel and blasted it to the ground with an energy blast. Luckily, the Megazord was able to cut the chain with it's Power Sword and free the Dragonzord from the acid gel. The Oysterizer charged at them but the Dragonzord was able to use his missile attack on the Oysterizer, knocking him flat before the Megazord finishes him off with an energy slash. The Oysterizer was later used by Lord Zedd to guard the Rock of Time along with Goldar, the Dramole and the Invenusable Flytrap. He was destroyed by one of Kimberly's Power Bow arrows. Tvicon.png TV STORY-Rangers Back in Time

The Oysterizer later attended Master Vile's End of the World party. Tvicon.png TV STORY-Master Vile and the Metallic Armor

The Oysterizr was also among the audience in the Machine Arena when Jason as the Gold Ranger, was made to fight against Tommy, who had been brainwashed by Prince Gasket. Tvicon.png TV STORY-King for a Day

Two years later, the Oysterizer was one of many monsters who were attempting to take over the universe for the United Alliance of Evil. He was seen in the army of Rita and Zedd and the army of the Machine Empire with him likely being sent to the latter as an act of good will. The Oysterizer probably survived being destroyed by Zordon's Energy Wave since he was later seen alive despite the Evil Space Aliens having been wiped out. The Oysterizer was a sadist who took great pleasure in destroying the Rangers yet he is also quite protective of his pearl, as shown that he got highly enraged when he saw the Megazord smashed it.

Powers and Abilities

  • Strength: The Oysterizer is a lot more stronger then the other monsters, knocking back the Megazord with single punches and kicks as well as managing to take it down with a single double punch to the chest.
  • Durability: The Oysterizer was merely knocked down by the Dragonzord's missiles and was able to immediately recover.
  • Sight: The Oysterizer was somehow able to see without having any visible eyes.
  • Underwater Breathing: The Oysterizer could very clearly breathe underwater.
  • Adapt Swimmer: The Oysterizer can both swim and move freely underwater.
  • Extraordinary Jumper: The Oysterizer can backflip out of the ocean from the sea floor.
  • Extraordinary Leaper: The Oysterizer can leap incredible distances.
  • Pollution: According to both Goldar and Zordon, the Oysterizer can both pollute the ocean and kill all sea life.
  • Acidic Gel: From the holes in his body, the Oysterizer could spray pink gel that can burn anyone or anything. Anyone hit by it will be immobilized and unable to move.
  • Energy Stream: The Oysterizer can fire a strong orange colored energy stream from his pearl-like face strong enough to knock down Zack and later the Dragonzord with one hit each.
  • Self Growth: The Oysterizer seemed to be able to grow himself underwater, just appearing giant after the Pearl of Stillness was destroyed without the wand tossing.

  • Dagger and Pearl In Chain: The Oysterizer carried a chain that had a small dagger for combat and a pearl in chain for offense combat. He could also use the chain to wrap his enemies with as well.

Behind The Scenes

  • The Oysterizer was voiced by Scott Page-Pagter and basically every line that he spoke was yelled at the viewers.
    • The Oysterizer and Pirantishead had nearly the exact same voice.
      • Ironically, both are Zyu2 monsters based on things you'd find underwater (an oyster and a piranha).

  • The Oysterizer comes from what is commonly referred to as Zyu2 footage by the fandom, and was not seen in the original Zyuranger.
    • Recently released Zyu2 footage shows that Zack used his scanner built into his helmet to find the Oysterizer while he was in the water although this didn't make it into the actual episode. This was most likely cut from the episode because it is ultimately completely unnecessary.
      • Additionally, there was an entire scene of the Oysterizer openly bowing to and worshipping the Ecocyte Pearl that was cut to remove Christian imagery given his stereotypical bowing and thus prevent alienating the audience.
        • However, remnants of this can still be seen in the final episode because he bows to Rita on her crystal ball but was left in since it felt appropriate considering she was the supposed Queen of Evil.
  • The Oysterizer was the final monster to be faced by the original Megazord.
  • The Oysterizer appears to be a unique monster in the first seasons of Power Rangers since the monster was clearly giant when first seen on Rita's crystal ball, became human sized when he fought Zack, and then was giant when he confronted the Megazord.
    • A very similar concept was used, albeit not in Power Rangers itself, was used more frequently eleven years later in Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger with the Trinoids which were giant monsters that could become smaller at will.
