Operation Seasoning[1] is the seventh episode of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. This episode marks the only appearance of Heckyl's Dark Ranger form in the live-action Power Rangers continuity.

Synopsis[]

To save Pine Ridge, Team Cosmic Fury must dismantle the system of Squidrills creating an anti-Zord forcefield around Earth — with the help of a spy.[2]

Plot[]

The base returns to Earth, 14 hours after leaving Erridus, remove the tracker from the Cosmic Dragon Zord, and Solon got the Scuttleworm slime out of her cybernetics as Zayto meets up with the other Rangers, who were amused that he slept throughout the entire trip. They then go over their plan, which they had dubbed ‘Operation Seasoning', where they will wait for Heckyl to sabotage Squillia's Mega Squidrill, which will cause a chain reaction, disabling the Anti-Zord forcefield. Then they would take out the remaining Squidrills, and liberate all the captured citizens and Rangers from Zedd's prisons.

While on the Mega Squidrill, Heckyl tries to send Squilla away with a gift card to a luxury spa before Tarrick signals him that the Cosmic Fury Rangers are ready for him. He immediately blows his cover and morphs into the Dino Charge Dark Ranger before attempting to fight Squillia and Omwhyzo, but is outnumbered and knocked out with the former intending to send him to Zedd's prison.

Without the forcefield disabled, the Megazords were then pulled into Earth by its gravity before crash landing. Amelia Jones, Javi Garcia, Izzy Garcia, Fern, and Billy Cranston, who were all in the Cosmic Fury Megazord, are then captured, while Aiyon and Zayto were able to evade capture before Zayto sends the Zords into the Morphin Grid, but it then causes him to faint as Tarrick and the Rafkonians show up before they immediately head to Tarrick's resistance base. While Zayto recovers, Solon, who hid the base on the moon, comes in to assess him before learning from the former that when the Morphin Masters revived and gave him magic, it was the only thing keeping him alive, which Aiyon realized what the tree on Levvina told Zayto to enjoy what time he had left. Zayto doesn't want to divulge any of the Morphin Masters' secrets, even after Aiyon and Solon attempt to ask him about it, until he admits that he will die when he used up all his magic. Soon, Pop-Pop arrives, having smuggled some Grid Battleforce Transponders, compliments of General Shaw before they then make a plan to use them to send the Mega Squidrill over Zedd's prison to drop it on the building, disabling both forcefields so that they can free the Rangers and prisoners, but will need a distraction for the Transponders to be placed. While Aiyon and Solon were reluctant, Zayto goes along with the plan and wants them to keep the magic drain a secret, which they agree.

While Tarrick, Pop-Pop, and the Rafkonian resistance remain hidden near the prison, Zayto uses Master Red's staff to make Solon giant and rampage to city to use as the distraction, which the latter enjoys, while Aiyon sets up the Transponders. Once they were set up, Zayto eventually faints and Solon turns back to normal size before Aiyon activates the Transponders to teleport the Mega Squidrill over the prison so it can drop down onto it, destroying the shield, giving Tarrick, Pop-Pop, and the Rafkonian resistance the opportunity to liberate the prisoners as Aiyon joined in once Solon takes Zayto back to base.

As the Rangers briefly reunite with their loved ones, the Cosmic Fury Rangers, Billy, and Heckyl stay behind to morph and fight Squillia, Omwhyzo, a Copyguard and some Zentinels as Tarrick returns to help. With many Zentinels on the ground, Billy suggests cutting off the reinforcements, which Amelia agrees before she and the Cosmic Fury Rangers take off to destroy the Squidrills as the Copyguard grows giant to try and protect them, but is taken down along with the Squidrills, even if one went into battle mode and destroyed by the Cosmic Fury Megazord. Tarrick takes down Omwhyzo before helping Billy and Heckyl subdue Squillia with Sleepy Cuffs and take her to his base.

While the Rangers celebrate their victory and check their recharged phones that contained missed calls, messages, and voicemails from loved ones and friends, Tarrick, Billy and Heckyl contact them to compliment the Rangers on the plan, to which they compliment back before they show off the sleeping captive Squillia, amusing the Rangers.
