Occulo was an eye/Dodomeki/hermit crab-themed Sporix Beast in Power Rangers Dino Fury Season 2 and the twentieth Sporix Beast to awaken in the Dino Fury series. He was the central antagonist of the two-part Void Knight episodes in the second season of Dino Fury, "Missing Pieces" and "Tiny Trouble."

Over 65 million years ago, Occulo and the other Sporix Beasts were created on Rafkon by military leaders hoping to use them as weapons against an approaching evil. Aiyon believed they are dangerous and as he predicted, they eventually turned against their creators and desired to destroy all life in the universe. Though Zayto and his fellow Knights of Rafkon fought hard, the Sporix ravaged Rafkon and removed all traces of life from the planet. The Sporix then turned their attention to Earth but Zayto and the remaining Knights had managed to escape Rafkon and tracked the Sporix Beasts to Earth where they engaged them in battle with the help of the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Despite the Knights initially having the upper-hand against the Sporix, most of them grew enough in power over time to grow giant and force the Knights of Rafkon and thier dinosaur allies to retreat. When all seemed lost however, the Morphin Masters arrived and bestowed the Morphin Grid's powers to Zayto and his followers, as the first Ancient Dino Fury Rangers which gave them the advantage they need to defeat the Sporix Beasts and seal them inside of their eggs.

When the other Sporix are accidentally released in the modern day during Void Knight's invasion of Dinohenge, Occulo's is amongst the Sporix Beasts that escape. Despite this, Occulo does not hatch until after the supposed death and subsequent return of Void Knight. 
TV STORY-Destination Dinohenge
Occulo hatches in an unknown location shortly after the debut of the Dino Fury Cycle and teleports straight to Area 62 much to the surprise of the Void Family. After Occulo reveals that he knew where to come because of his x-ray vision, Void Knight recruits him to use his special vision to find more Sporix Cells without needing to go hunting. Though Occulo agrees to work with them, Wreckmate wonders how they will stop the Rangers from interfering so Slyther reveals a memory erasing amulet. The plan is that this will allow them to steal Sporix without the Rangers remembering where they were. Later the next day, though only seen in a later BuzzBlast report, Occulo first encounters the Dino Fury Rangers and badly injures Amilia's shoulder. Sometime after this, the Rangers' memories are erased and he retreats. Occulo, Mucus, and Slyther later find a Sporix Cell in the middle of Pine Ridge only to meet Izzy and Javi, who are also after it and the two morph and fight. However, Occulo is too strong and badly hurts Izzy so Javi uses the Flare Key's Flare Flash to blind the Beast and render him unable to see. The other Dino Fury Rangers then arrive but Occulo's omnidirectional vision still allows him to fend them off and Slyther uses the amulet to alter their memories. After the Rangers were convinced that the Sporix was just a pickle, Occulo and the other villains retreat.
Occulo later returns to the city with Mucus and Slyther and reveals that they have most of the Sporix as five of the Rangers (sans Zayto who is searching for Rafkon) arrive. Slyther summons Hengemen and both sides fight but Occulo defeats Izzy and takes down the Rangers with his Eye Bomb Barrage before Slyther uses the memory amulet again. Before they can leave however, Zayto arrives on the Dino Fury Cycle and blasts the amulet out of Slyther's hands before destroying it. After the Light Dino Key restores the Rangers' memories, Occulo re-enters the fight but Ollie uses the Flare Key again in conjunction with Javi's Slick Key to completely blind the three. With the villains helpless, the Rangers repeatedly strike Occulo down before combining their finishers only to be shot down by the arrival of Void Knight. After he takes down all six Rangers single-handedly, the villains quickly withdraw. TV STORY-Missing Pieces
Despite the amount of Sporix collected, it still isn't enough so Occulo is sent to collect more but can't find any even in people's dirty laundry. Though he finds the final Sporix in Pine Ridge, he spies on the Power Rangers training and the first appearance of the Baby Pacha Zord. Occulo later presents the last Sporix but it still isn't enough. Frustrated at the repeated failures, Void Knight threatens to use Occulo's Sporix to fully power the machine. However, the panicked creature tells him of the new Zord which could be used to blackmail the Rangers for their Sporix supply so Wreckmate is assigned to help him. They later capture the Zord when Aiyon lets it off its leash but they argue long enough for the Rangers to arrive and morph so Occulo fights as Wreckmate holds the Zord but it escapes when he is attacked.
Wreckmate and Occulo later enter the city only to find four Rangers (sans Aiyon and Ollie who are looking for the Zord) waiting for them. The Rangers are overpowered and chained up but Aiyon and Ollie appear and cut them down so Occulo enlarges and Aiyon forms the Mosa Razor Zord Battle Mode. However, Occulo is still too strong until the other Rangers are free and summon the Pacha Smash Zord, which overwhelms him and they form the Dino Fury Megazord Smash Formation. Occulo then boxes the Megazord but even his vision is unable to help him against the repeated blows until he is finally sent flying by the Megazord's upper-cut. Zayto then summons the Mega Fury Saber and they defeat the monster with the Pacha Mega Smash, causing him to explode as he hits the ground. Void Knight is able to teleport down himself and capture Occulo's Sporix, commenting that he always planned on using his Sporix regardless of whether he succeeded in his plan or not. Occulo's Sporix Cell is placed into the Sporix Machine and is enough to fully power the machine and revive Santaura. TV STORY-Tiny Trouble
Occulo participates at the invasion of the Sporix during the final battle against the Rangers and the Rafkonians, fighting along with Trackenslash. The monster is defeated off-screen by the Rafkonians, and his Sporix Egg was used by Void Queen to create her secret weapon, a gigantic chimera-themed Sporix Beast called Nemesis Beast. Occulo was a slightly dim Sporix Beast, but was extremely violent and loyal to his masters. He also seems to like cute things as seen with his comment on the Baby Pacha Zord.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Strength: Despite being an early monster of season 2, Occulo is one of the stronger monsters. He possesses a great deal of raw strength since he was able to grab and throw Amelia against a wall hard enough to injure her right shoulder and easily overpowered the Mosa Razor Zord Battle Mode later on, and he was also able to fight all of the Rangers simultaneously.
- Durability: Being themed after a hermit crab, Occulo has thick skin that withstood numerous blows from the Chromafury Sabers and the Mosa Razor Zord Battle Mode without getting a scratch.
- Teleportation: Occulo could teleport to any location in a purple energy column.
- Ocular Powers: Being themed after eyes, Occulo possessed multiple vision based abilities:
- X-Ray Vision: Occulo could see through anything that were covered.
- Omnidirectional Vision: Having a large quantity of eyes all over his body, Occulo could see in multiple directions at once.
- Multi-Lightning Laser Vision: Occulo could fire a large red energy stream made of lightning from his center eye while also firing purple energy lasers from the ten eyes around it. This was his most powerful attack as it was strong enough to disarm and take down the Mosa Razor Zord Battle Mode with one hit.
- Enlarging: Occulo could enlarge himself with the energy he gained while fighting.
Abilities[]
- Speech: Despite lacking a visible mouth, Occulo was able to talk.
- Skilled Fighter: In addition to his raw strength, Occulo was also a skilled fighter, being able to fight and overwhelm Izzy and Javi with his pincers despite being unarmed and outnumbered. He was also able to overpower all six Dino Fury Power Rangers with ease.
- Super Jumps: Occulo could jump in incredible lengths and heights. He was able to follow Javi with a single bound despite the latter being knocked several hundred meters.
- Boxing: Occulo was able to very briefly but effectively box with the Dino Fury Megazord Smash Formation.

- Blindness from Light: Being themed around eyes, Occulo could be blinded by bright lights such as the one created by the Flare Dino Key.
Arsenal[]
- Pincers: Occulo had pincers for hands which could be used as bludgeons in combat.
- Shockwave Punches: Occulo's pincers could release shockwaves with each punch.
- Eye Bomb Barrage: Occulo could launch a barrage of red eye-shaped energy missiles from his pincers that homed in and locked onto his targets. This attack can cover a huge range.

Portrayal[]
- Occulo was voiced by David Mackie in his first Power Rangers role.
Design[]
- Although not made clear in Power Rangers, Occulo was based upon the Dodomeki (sometimes called the "todomeki"), a Japanese Yōkai that is depicted as a human woman who is cursed to have long arms covered with hundreds of bird eyes due to its habit of stealing money. He is also based on a hermit crab.
Etymology[]
- Occulo's name was a pun on ocular, which is to do with vision.

- Occulo was the final Sporix Beast used to help Void Knight revive his lover Santaura since his Sporix Cell was the final one required to power his Sporix Machine.
- Since Occulo was able to find the rest of the Sporix Eggs that were not found by the Rangers, as well as being the final Sporix after his defeat to power up Void Knight's Sporix Machine to also revive Santaura, this would make him indirectly responsible for also creating Void Queen and thus having a major impact in the second season of Power Rangers Dino Fury itself. This makes Occulo an important Monster-Of-The-Week in the Power Rangers Dino Fury series.
- Occulo is the second monster of the Power Rangers Dino Fury series to appear in two episodes, the first being Fogshell.
- Coincidentally, both Fogshell and Occulo are Sporix Beasts that are themed after aquatic animals, and also appear in two episodes.
