Behind the Scenes
- Nuppefuhofu is based on the Nuppepo, a yokai resembling a walking mass of pungent flesh. However, the mythological version is harmless. The concept of stealing faces may instead be based on the Nopperabo, a faceless species of Yokai known for stealing faces, which Nuppepo is believed to be a type of or at least a distant relative of. While a Nopperabo is a Yokai featured in Kakuranger, it does not steal faces.
- Nuppefuhofu's episode was meant to be the 23rd episode of Kakuranger and was advertised as such in Monthly Newtype magazine prior to airing. However due to the staff's decision to do the arc that preceded this one, it was held back to become the 32nd episode with certain elements refilmed (such as Nuppefuhofu fighting Super Kakure Daishogun instead of Muteki Shogun); however stills of the previous intention, including Nuppefuhofu fighting Muteki Shogun (which was published in a Televi-kun publication), still exist.
